i like the os itself... i just hate that it looks like it was designed in kindergarten. the "art" of it is so childish and ugly. too minimalist

I'll definitely agree with not being able to delete texts by swiping, have to hit edit first now, takes longer.

I also dislike all the white on the text messages,
Not to mention the colors are terrible, looks like a child's color scheme now, not very professional to me, not to mention very blinding with the bright white.

You cans till delete texts like the old way, however you need to swipe from right to left.

I hate that folders on the iPad now only show 9 apps. It's just a waste of space

This is something that Apple needs to know since having their products used in a business environment increases sales. And they do not want to loose that market share ($$$).

If people that rely on their phones as business tools start sending 'certified' letters to the top people at Apple to inform them how the update has effected productivity in business, Apple will have a hard time ignoring it.

The reason I suggest a letter is it's more personal, and has a greater impact, than email does. And sending it 'Certified' mail requires someone to sign for it.

Just a thought,

Jon...

I sent a couple polite messages on feedback. But I'll take your advise on the certified letter. I'm tired of hearing my guys complaining about this PDF thing. It's amazing that if something otherwise so insignificant gets messed up how big of an issue it can be.

Btw for those that missed my post I'll mention it again in hopes for a solution. We email pdf's to our employees as work orders giving them all the information of the job they should need (mechanical services mostly gov contracts).

Typically in emailed PDF files the guys could copy and paste addresses, names, phone numbers etc out of the PDF and apply it elsewhere.

While we can still highlight text it can't be dragged to select more surrounding text like in iOS 6. So for example you can only select 3 digits of a phone number, or just the road name in an address.

Yes this sounds very trivial but imagine doing something like this 100 times a day to going to memorizing or writing it down on a notepad etc. Its a step backward and will lead to data loss and misinformation mostly caused by laziness.

I have to share what someone sent me last night.....

ios6-vs-ios7-zebra-meme.jpg

I know, that's bad. But I laughed really hard when I got that in a text msg. and I could not resist sharing it in this thread.

Jon...

Good one!. Actually Jonny Ivy will puke when sees this image!. Yeah, there is a thing line between "simplicity" and "stupidity" and he does not seem to know better .... designer, my foot!.

The music app is a mess I will be downgrading tonight.
I walk every night and listen to music on my iPhone. I used to select an artist then play all the songs by that artist which used to play them alphabetically so I could easily skip songs with my headphone controls to the songs I liked most.
Now all I get is shuffle all songs by an artist its a complete mess.

All the more reason some people still uses the dedicated iPod nano and mini for music as it is predictable and works the same way as it always was. For Apple to screw around with the music player is just not accetpable. Their iTunes people certainly are poor quality software folks unfortunately.:(

Never had a problem with iOS or OS X looks. It was fairly neutral, and timeless. Gets a bit boring with time, but I expected gradual changes to the UI. Not a total conversion in just one OS iteration. This for sure alienates people, including me.

Minimalist but not really clean. They turned a classy os into a child's toy. Apple, do you have to alienate your core fan base to gain couple extra clients among pre-teens??? Seems like changes were made for the sake of changes, often removing functionality. Slider in videos now obscuring the image?? And you added transparency where nobody cares if it there? Would not happen on Steve Jobs watch! Can't innovate, Johnny? Than just leave it alone! :(

selling my 5s and going back to 5, with good OS

Steve admired Jony and the two were very close, especially in terms of ideas on design.

To say that this would not happen on Steve's watch (the most ridiculous statement in the world) is just completely ignorant and childish.

A small detail that I'm upset about: Apple removed the Map view in the Photos app. I've traveled quite a bit and it's great to flip into Map view and take a look at photos by location as opposed to time.

I'm well aware of Ives position in the company when jobs was alive. However, ios always remained classy to match the classy hardware. Now it's just childish colors and lot of unnecessary changes at the expense of functionality. Steve would not let it happen.

Oh ok, I forgot you knew Steve jobs personally and spoke to him in the heavens to get his opinion on iOS 7.

For all you know, Steve had mentioned some of these changes to Jony before his passing. The fact is, that you don't know that, and saying "Steve would not let it happen" is just asinine.

The trendy thing today in UI design is Flat. I'm not a big fan of it because I prefer a 3D look. I prefer Windows 7 vs Windows 8 and OS X vs Classic. That doesn't mean I would never be against a Flat UI if it were properly done.

From what i've read iOS 7 lacks polish which surprises me because Apple once was all about polish. There was the Maps fiasco and that lacked polish although it appears it's gotten better sans the morons who used Maps and drove on an Alaskan airport runway. :D

My biggest problem going with iOS 7 and it's a medical issue is that I suffer from migraine's and bright colors especially white can set them off. So instead of upgrading my iPad's i'll wait for the new iPad's and hopefully by then iOS 7 will have had a little bit more time to bake.

Ive never headed the OS design team under Steve, so your opinion is just as ridiculous. Ive only looked at Hardware and thats what he is good at.

- All day events lacking in pull down bar
- Safari has no iPad or desktop user agent
- No notification indicators on the taskbar
- Battery life has been very average

Not really, you think Steve never shared his opinions on iOS with Jony? I highly doubt he would not speak with him about that just because at the time he was heading only hardware. No one knows what Steve talked to him about, or what his plan was for the future but those at Apple.

The new lock screen!

I carry my phone in my pocket and when it rings, if I grab it wrong I can either dismiss the call or send a text I don't want to send.

Horrible! Going back to 6 as soon as my daughter gets her 5S and I'm taking her old one.

2) The animations are cool, but take too long. I find myself tapping on an icon I want to launch before the icon becomes "tap-able"

I'm glad I found this discussion here. I thought I was losing my mind and not tapping right. I really hate these delays! It happens in most apps too.

+1 YES!

I much prefer the version in IOS 6 where these extra options (REMIND and MESSAGE) were accessible with a pull down menu

99.999% of the time, I want to ANSWER or DECLINE

I believe Apple should at least offer the option to either show or hide these extra options, especially cause they use the same big buttons placed right next to the ANSWER button

When were you aware of the issue?

No time to roll back to iOS 6?

Animations are occasionally laggy and I get the same battery life on a 5S on iOS 7 that I got with a 5 on iOS 6. I bet iOS 6 on a 5S would prob get double the bat life.

but, iOS 7 is out just because the 5S is out. It is so far from being what it should be.
