Question... Is there still no way to delete ALL of your Mail messages? I did try searching and found nothing. If this is still the case, why? Doesn't that seem like a basic mail feature that most people will use? I only use this app sparingly on mobile and would rather clear them all to gain space.

iOS7

I positively hate everything about this so called awesome upgrade! I lost 75% of my photos, it puts the ones it decided I wanted, in whatever manor it wanted in whatever order place and date it wanted. Photos I lost were very important to me! People who have died, grand babies who were being born and many other, just gone. Gone and can never be retrieved. Some I was the only one who had a copy! I lost 50% of my music, games and all of my ring tones I had purchased and l. have had to buy them again. Not only my iPhone but also my iPad. After being on the phone for 2 hours trying to get what they called an "airlock" straightened out and still had another hour and a half to finish trying to fix what this wonderful update screwed up. Ryan , the Tech, sent me an e-mail to finish what he and I started, yeah that didn't work at all.
This stuff is gone, just gone. Our youngest daughter got married on Sept 21, first time our kids and grand kids were together, Most photos are is gone. You should be able to delete iOS 7 and go back to how you had before iOS7.
Apple should be ashamed and really fix this. I will never trust them or their help and if possible will find a company that cares. Maybe someone should start one.
I can deal with list books, and games, screwed up contacts. But I can't with photos, messaging, music and ringtones. $.99 to $12.99 doesn't seem like much, but to me it is.
The keypad, constant lock ups the icon, not being able to put or save things where I want that and delete stuff I don't. I hate this upgrade.
As far as I'm concerned it's nothing I needed or wanted, it's what was crammed down our throats!
There were photos of my grand babies being placed in their Mothers or Fathers arms, JUST GONE, JUST GONE, our Mother, Father & nephew who died, ALL JUST GONE. JUST GONE

WELL I FOR ONE WANT MY PHONE AND EVERYTHING ONE IT AS IT WAS BACK. AND iOS7, JUST GONE, JUST GONE

You know, I hate iOS 7 as much as the next guy, but **** like this just takes the cake.

You claim your precious family photos are priceless and irreplaceable, then you never bother to make a backup. Sorry, but you got precisely what you deserved. Next time, learn to backup everything you can't live without.

The new features that Apple has added to its mobile operating system iOS 7, Graphic User Interface aside, are a timely addition towards a better functioning system. Adapting the fingerprint ID technology, Control Center with its convenient slide-over window, Siri updates, iTunes Radio, accelerometer for gaming, and more, all are welcome enhancements in this new release. However, the disappointment in viewing and interacting with the GUI is very troubling to me.

I upgraded my iPad to iOS 7 and was hoping that it would be a pleasant surprise, maybe even one of those magical moments that only Apple Computing can create. Instead, the graphic interface has an amateurish appearance and feel. I was glad that I left iOS version 6.1.3 on my iPhone. If Apple has 'Reinvented' anything, it has done so in a time warp ..... back to pre-Mac SE (1988)! It is without a doubt the worse interface I have ever worked with. The complete scheme looks to me like someone decided to use a draft, project mockup, and by all measures, one which would have been 'questioned' by at least one past "Think Different" Master.

The very flat icon skins are humdrum. The hyper touted Home Screen parallax tilt effect is lame. Text isn't concurrent. Colors one could say are comparable with kiddie drawings taped to the refrigerator. The keyboard symbols are so thin that they are laughable. Highlight bars so gaudy bright that they wash out blocks of type. Generally, the entire symbol and text suitcase is proportioned poorly, with a mishmash of badly balanced color hues. Throughout the entire Apple mobile operating system (iOS 7), backgrounds, buttons, boxes, etc., which exist with less frequency than ever before, are featureless.

iTunes, Safari, Mail, Calendars and so much of the rest all have a rudimentary look. It's staggering the lack of graphic character. Comparing BEFORE and AFTER mobile operating systems, iOS 6 is full of rich detail. What's most important is that its creators perfected user interaction with style! Say what you want about grayscale, shadowing, skeuomorphism, much refinement went into that near perfect arrangement. I sympathize with everyone who feels that unlike the previous Apple operating systems, the new mobile iOS 7 is rather ..... shallow. It's horrible.

The future unfolds at the moment an Apple product is switched on. You see that our beautiful world is not flat. (All is Well) The next step, creativity and then onto productivity. Amazing how inspiring it is to work in a digital domain with an intriguing graphic interface, and sophisticated quality hardware. This has been the unique combination that constitutes the ultimate personal computing and mobile electronic experience which is solely Apple's hallmark. If one needs proof, the next time you restart your mobile device it will be evident as you'll be admiring the most elegant logo ever conceived.

I'm not going to abandon the wonderful textures, coordinated characters, and the depth of field that is iOS 6. This means that I will refrain from buying that Gold 5s iPhone and the Pro Desktop computer. Apple hardware is grades above any of the rest, but without software with a Graphic User Interface that offers dynamic digital electronic excitement, my allegiance to Apple is for the first time starting to waver. I crave Apple products, at least until now. If there is a software company that can emulate the iOS 6.1.3 experience, I want it.

And then there is Mavericks. Now ..... Listen to the Lion's Growl.

Man... You really should have made a backup of your photos if they were that important... I hate iOS 7 but you can't blame an operating system for this... OK, iOS 7 didn't help, but what if you dropped your phone or something... Without a backup you would still lose your photos...

-Long/slow animations make the phone feel laggy/unresponsive, and make the user feel disconnected. I felt more connected to my 4s with iOS6

-My mailboxes now show ALL of my unread emails as new emails, instead of just paying attention to the most recent 50 emails or so

-I don't seem to be able to search my email any more by "From" or "Subject" or all the options we had in iOS6

-The Notes app no longer lists the total number of notes at the top

-The brightness/color of the bubbles in iMessages/texts is just weird to me. I thought it would be harder to read than it actually is, but it's still a bit weird to me. I think maybe I just preferred the black text of iOS6.

-Touch ID - when this is enabled, the only option for locking the phone is "Immediately." This means I can no longer "Slide to View" a text that just came in, for example. I turned TouchID off pretty quickly, as a result.

These are my thoughts after about 2.5 days

On your last point - swipe on the message as normal, then scan your fingerprint. Should then open to the text.

Not much

The only thing I like is how the video capture function works. I used to have trouble figuring out if I was actually recording or not (I know, I have issues). I like nothing else about the upgrade, period. I would happily go back to iOS 6 if I could.

Apple products are luxury items which I have indulged myself with because the experience of using them was so much better (to me) than other products. With iOS 7 Apple has ruined my experience with their phones and I have decided to not upgrade to the 5S from my 4S as I am no longer willing to do business with them. I"ll maintain my 4S for as long as I can and either change to Samsung in a few years or, hopefully, Apple will fix the crap that is iOS. My spanking new iMac will last a good long time and can easily be replaced by a cheaper PC when the time comes, also.

Sorry, Apple, I don't mind paying premium prices for premium products but IMHO your products are now just over priced bling.

Sorry this happened to you and it really does underscore that in terms of losing data like photos, no one is immune, it will happen to everyone at some point to some degree.

This would be reason number 8 or so for me as to why as a top earning professional photographer I have gone back to using film for 90% of my work as of 4 years ago, especially in fine art.

And yes, this iOS update is pretty bad, the thin font against blinding white is horrible, I like to spend as little time on computers and devices as possible and this so called update makes that harder to do.

Agreed, doing an OS upgrade, especially a major revision without a proper backup first comes down to an error on the end user.

WOW , that's terrible but hardly iOS7 's fault.

It happened to some friends of mine on their computer . I'm so paranoid about loosing my photos that I burn them on a DVD , backup with TimeMachine and Super Duper . Only then I erase them from my camera .
All photos from iPhone are imported to iPhoto and backed up to the above .

I've posted this into 2 other threads already, do some research:

Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Accounts

Select the email-account associated with the large amount of "new" e-mails.

At the bottom it should say: Mail Days to Sync

Set it too 3 days.

First off, don't be so assumptive that people have not done their research, there is only so much time some of us what to spend on your beloved internet.

Secondly, I have went through this 4 times and there is no Mail Days to Sync that either my wife or I can find.

For some damn reason, her POP decided to upload her archive folder too, 3,447 emails, real pain in the rear.

Anyone else who is *willing* to go out of their way to give me some advice, by all means, put your best foot forward. By the way, the nearest "Genius" is 210 miles away, 4 hours drive away, so that is out.

I used to do that before Carbonite. My quick advice is to make sure you have a copy of them all offsite if you aren't already. A fire / flood / theft / etc. would wipe them all out at one location.

My biggest gripe by far is the whole music management piece. The UI is just beyond awful as is the how icloud integrates. Songs won't delete, they reappear. Yes, I've been through all the settings and done all the steps, it doesn't really work 100% of the time. At best I can hide all the songs I haven't downloaded to the phone from icloud, but maybe I just want to hide that drunk album purchase? You can't do it. It's all or nothing.

But it's not just the ios7 piece. iTunes has gotten way too big for its britches.

Thank you for the tip , I'm going to look it up .

I don't like how the new camera works, it has made it really difficult for me to take sharp photos of my kids with the phone. It seems like it's more sensitive to hand movements now. Before, I'd click on the screen to focus on them, then take the picture and they'd come out perfect (if the kids managed to sit still for half a second ;)). Now, I do the exact same thing, but more often than not, the pictures are a bit blurry.

I don't know if it's this new "faster shutter action" that messes with the auto stabiliser or whatever it is, but I doubt my hand has become less stable since the upgrade...

Agreed.

Yes I prefer the IOS 6 method of taking photos -- hold finger on screen to focus and wait for the right moment, then release to take the perfect picture

Now I can only tap the screen, as this seems to mess up the photo and it's blurry

If I hold my finger on the screen, it takes multiple burst photos

Apple needs to make the burst mode an option, as I prefer to take 1 photo at a time that's in focus

Only 1% of the time, I would want a burst photo mode, so this should not be the default and unchangeable

I don't want to point fingers or anything, but I must ask... How come you've never made a backup of all your important games, pictures and so on? And why didn't you take notice of the pretty obvious warning that you really should have a backup made before updating?

A backup is automatically made to iTunes when you connect your device, unless you have iCloud in which case it will automatically back up to the cloud once a day (or whenever you connect your phone to a charger and you're connected to a wifi network).

Also, all of your purchased items will be available in the App Store/iTunes Store when logged into your Apple ID. If they're not, the problem is in no way related to iOS 7.

Not a iPhone owner, but i really liked the fine tuned design of Apple products, yet now it really reminds me of ubuntu with all the blur and especially total buttons mess in its control center. Why just not make the dividing lines less visible, so they still serve its purpose but dont distract from the controls. So simple so apple like. And dont even want me to start on the icons...

I prefer the left one.

The 3x3 icon arrangements in a folder is disgusting.

This, and the fact that it goes to the middle of the screen every time.

Say I have a folder in the dock with email, messages, and phone, and I want to get to the messages, iOS6 folders will make it so that you're just a few millimeters away, iOS7 on the other hand forces you to go to the middle of the screen every time.

As I found out, it's a feature exclusive to Exchange Services only. Meaning that if Active Sync isn't in use the feature does not represent itself. I was assuming this feature was common enough for it be available with all email-providers, apparently it is not. So if you're using anything other than Hotmail or Outlook, you do not have this feature available.

I am sorry if I came off a little aggressive, this was not my intension as alot of people actually do neglect to look at the features their Mobile OS have to offer.

alarm clock

Maybe someone can tell me what I am doing wrong or if this functionality has changed for the worse as well. I usually have the alarm set to wake up with the phone put to silent (the switch) and the ringer volume all the way down, so that the alarm is the vibrations only. This prevents my wife from waking up an hour early. When I do the same in IOS 7 the alarm can still be heard (which pisses off my wife), and I have not been able to get the alarm in IO7 only to trigger the vibrations.

Any advice out there so I can move back to the bed from the sofa?

What was apple thinking in putting a neon green bar when on a call??
