Finished my playthrough of Dying Light. Great game, really got me hooked. The attention to detail, the world and things you could do were all well done. And a story!
After completing the main story it seems you can still explore the world and possibly finish off side quests.
Not sure if I will, have a backlog of other stuff to check out.
Curious about DL2 but I'll get to that later.

Dabbled with Mafia 3 again (very underrated title). Been seeing a lot of traffic on Atomic Heart, unsure if I'll go for that, but I will go for Raven Software's most excellent Singularity

Such a shame these major corporations continue to buy out talented studios only to put them on the back burner or worse disassemble. Certainly doesn't serve the gaming community in my mind.

Have doubts? Play Singularity and see for yourself...

I picked up Atomic Heart today and started playing

Its set in an alternate future, and definitely has a bioshock vibe.

There's a large cut scene in the beginning that now after the fact can be skipped w/o missing out on anything.

Overall it seems pretty interesting, its holding my interest. I'll probably put a little more time into this weekend, though my plans this weekend have me largely away from the computer.

I am not a fan of the dodge mechanic on KB/M. Maybe I'll switch to playing with controller.

Yep, I've yet to really master it.

The game is decent. I'm not totally in love with it, and the weapon and glove upgrade seems a bit confusing to me. I'm still early on in the game.

Its not an open world game, but seems to reward you for searching and looting.

Right now given the dearth of ammo and weapons, its not a FPS game, but more of a FP axe game and as such I'm getting a little board at hacking the robots to death.

The banter between P-3 and his glove is getting old.

You can craft ammo, which is helpful. I too like the game so far, the banter between dude and the glove isn't so bad (I also am playing Forspoken so yeah). Having to find lounges for saving really helps set the atmosphere (imo). It really gives off a Bioshock vibe.

Side question, has anyone else pre-ordered the System Shock remake?

The game is growing on me definitely has some fun elements
I got on the train for the next station, and basically am going to have to watch a cut scene again cause I can't seem to find the save point so far.
My plan so far is to bait the enemies, show then freeze them then hit them with the shotgun. Seems to work so far.

Settled on Prey (2017)

Simply does not disappoint, one of the best mixed genre games (immersive sim, RPG & shooter) I've ever played. This is how games should be made & produced, it's all about the player and their experience.

Level design is superb and the amount of ways you can approach a mission or target is staggering. Prey really encourages the player to think outside of the box...

I'm not sure I'm before you or after you (I think I'm not as far).

I'm trying to find the cannisters for the Valilov Complex. Its turning into a bit of a grind

Have you upgraded anything yet?
I gave the glove freezing and boosted the power of the electro gun (whatever its called). I also crafted the Fox, its does similar damage as the axe but is one handed and faster swinging. I find the combination of the freeze and Fox to be a nice option with close up battles, and the electro gun for ranged stuff

I've upgraded the Axe, shotgun and the electro gun. Yeah that part is a bit of a grind basically once you are done there you leave the underground and get to deal with the "endless spawning enemies" of the above ground, lol.

That's what I read. I was looking at various reviews prior to buying it, and endless spawning was one of the consistent themes being bantered about in a negative way.

Yeah I saw that and was like great I planned on sneaking past anyways. Too many cameras that will alarm and cause everyone to hunt you down.

I hated the snapping padlocks until I got those two colored pad locks where you needed to get them ordered in such a way. I still don't know how those work, I just randomly play with it and somehow I unlock it.

The snapping padlocks can be easy but sometime, whether its because I've had 4 or 5 coffees, or because some are too quick I struggled at times.

4 or 5 coffees sounds about right! :)

This YT offers a nice tip in getting tons of components. Basically use Mass Telekinesis to farm robots, doing so in front of a camera will then allow endless spawning. I needed to upgrade my weapons and craft a weapon, and using this farming technique allowed me to do so. I got everything I needed in about 30 minutes, funnily enough in the same location that this YT used

Edit: This Mass Telekinesis is really great, I thought the freeze ray was good but this is a game changer. I'll do more component farming later and I'll just keep killing the robots.

Have no idea why I didn't get into this game far sooner. Level design is absolutely stunning, so many ways to progress. The levels are both interesting & challenging as are the enemy's.

Replay is massive as you can tune your character in multiple ways to suit your play style. This is a game to play, make no bones about it

I’ve completed both games already but Tomb Raider (the latest rendition) and Rise of the Tomb Raider.

I'm still on Atomic heart. I'm basically stuck trying to kill mini-boss plyusch. I've tried countless times and its at a point where I'm just putting the game down. I wonder if I failed to find some better melee weapons or my technique is failing me (I suspect mostly the latter with some of the former) Either way, the game has gotten a bit repetitive and I interest started to wane even before stumbling upon the mini-boss.

Sound like the experience I had with Control. Stuck on a boss, very frustrating mechanics, tired several times put it down because it wasn't fun. I know some games you can adjust the difficulty but for me when you reach a threshold where you interest in the game turns it's, not worth it.

Melee and dodge are all I can say helped me. I used the club with the spinning thing (base) and just kept dodging. I died four times before i killed it. I was really excited about that win, lol.

Still with Prey (2017) First playthrough is done and dusted. Such a great game and far better gameplay. Be rude not to return at a harder difficulty level 😉 Enjoying even more, finding evermore new paths & solutions, combat is getting sporting

Was always one for System Shock 2, played it to death for years with mods. Prey is all that and so much more with modern graphics. Only question is who is the Prey...

This out playthrough turns out good, I'll turn on the survival aspect's. Then I strongly suspect the difficulty will get seriously strong 😂
