This looks pretty interesting, anyone pulled the trigger on this yet?

No because I have Earth Defense Force instead. Unless I can have a Tomahawk Missile as my primary weapon and drive skyscraper sized mechas to punch Godzillas, I ain't playing it.

One of the very few games that incorporates the use of tactical nuclear weapons. Is so very cleverly done as when you opt to pull the trigger, you really have think on it. World in Conflict also scales beautifully with modern hardware, being one of those games that simply doesn't age...

Yeah it's weird, dont know why is posting like this, nor can I edit it out?

GoG, Steam? Third person or isometric RTS? I guess I can look it up. Fallout 4 has a shoulder launched tactical Nuke, but somewhat dissapointing you can’t blow yourself up with it, at least I have not, and it should be leveling buildings, but does not. :)

GOG, isometric RTS Is a great play, more you play the deeper it gets. When you get to the point where the game allows for the use of nuclear weapons is permissible. I've dialled it back, just no. While dropping the bomb is intriguing I can't be part of that as is very dramatic as everything is destroyed.

Absolutely a game to play...

Dropping nukes seems beyond scorched Earth…

@Huntn So remember how I told you to go play Metal Gear Solid 1? Well you got no excuse now as Konami is porting the entire series to modern hardware and PC in the Fall

And they're remaking the third game Snake Eater, which is a DEFINITE must play.

I urge you to play MGS1, but you can start with Snake Eater should you choose. You'd love Snake Eater since it's set in the 60s at the height of the Cold War, with a little flavor of James Bond

I wonder how much they will ask for it?

Most likely $60 for each volume of the collection, but it will be sooooooo worth it. You are getting FIVE games with volume 1. You are getting:

  • Metal Gear Solid. The original low poly masterpiece that to this day still holds up as one of the greats. Terrorists have taken over the top secret US nuclear disposal blacksite Shadow Moses Island, and if the government doesn't hand over the remains of Big Boss, they will launch a nuclear strike. You must infiltrate Shadow Moses, rescue the DARPA chief and President/CEO of ArmsTech, find out if the terrorists can launch a nuke, and if they can, stop them by any means necessary

  • Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. Years after the Shadows Moses incident, the digital age has hit full swing, and things are not all as they seem. Word of a new Metal Gear is in development and you need to find out if the rumors are true

  • Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater: After the end of WWII, the world was split into two, the East and the West. You are given a Virtuous Mission, to help key Soviet rocket scientist Nikolai Stepanovich Sokolov defect, as he seems to have become afraid of something he created, a nuclear equipped tank called the Shagohod. Extract him from the USSR before the Soviets can complete this weapon

And as an added bonus, the collection also comes with the two original games Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake from the MSX

(Now don't get confused, Metal Gear Solid takes place after the MSX games, but the MSX games aren't necessary to play to get into the series. You can play them after as a bonus, to see how far the series came from the MSX to the PlayStation 1.)

Awesome! :D

For you and @rampancy, I purchased the $10 Dead Space deal on Steam for Dead Space 1,2, and 3 (Not the 2023 release called Dead Space). If not already over, the sale will be over soon. I played the original on my xBox 360. So I’ll be able to check out and compare it to the Marathon stand alone titles mentioned in the Marathon reboot thread. :)

Honestly that strikes me as too much, so I assume they will appear on Steam and I’ll wait for a sale, which always comes. :)

Greetings fellow Imperial citizens! I am here to tell you about the newest playn, something you should be playn too. Warhammer 40K: BOLTGUN

A Space Marine in a boomer shooter setting, eliminating every daemon of Chaos and Chaos Space Marine they see. Nothing is more satisfying than charging at a bitcrushed Heretic with your Chainsword

Praise be to the emperor

Space Hulk: Deathwing - Enhanced Edition
spacehulk_deathwing-enhance_edition.jpg

Far better than many would like you to think. Very challenging mind and think that's why some put the game down. The initial release was broken, the enhanced version has been flawless for me. Difficulty level is no joke especially if you want to 100% on the hardest level.

As aspects of the Space Hulk are damaged/destroyed and doors locked down the pathing becomes increasingly complex with the horde (Tyranids) being as per lore, innumerable and absolutely relentless...

Value depends entirely on how much you get out for yourself of these games. I have a love/hate relationship with MGS games. The stories are great and so is storytelling, but the game parts are just bad. I'm still traumatised by MGS3 where you couldn't climb over a 1' box, but over much larger obstacles because it was scripted that way. Kojima always wanted to make movies and games were the fallback. Watching someone else play on Twitch and deal with the gameplay mechanics worked better for me in such cases.

Final Liberation was also pretty good, based off the Epic 40K setting. (which btw is currently free on GOG in celebration of Warhammer Skulls) https://www.gog.com/en/game/warhammer_skulls_2023_free_game_digitial_goodie_pack_goodies

And it gave us the hilarious Commissar Holt.

Dead Space 👍all the way. You may need to do a mouse fix and or limit FPS, other than that the game is timeless. Turn all the graphics to max and play on the hardest difficulty level. Trust me on this as you wont regret. Dead Space is such a rewarding game that still stands up to this very day in 2023.

DS2 is good, DS3 not so much The OG DS1 remains the one to play. Considering yet another play of the original. I've literally lost count of how many times I've walked through the corridor's of the USG Ishimura...

Dead Space was made & produced with a real passion, not just to turn coin. You can feel this as you get deeper into the game. Game is super imersive and you as the player are the protagonist, something the recent remake misses...

Dead Space is what the gaming experience should always be like. First bought the game on the PS3, now on the PC runs flawlessly. So boot it up, what are you waiting for...:)

Then there's Doom 3 on the RBDoom-3-BFG Engine. Be prepared as this is a very darker experience, this engine elevates the game to an entirely different level. Graphic fidelity is absurd for such an old game. This I like as can run on both on Apple Silicon or an Intel PC...

Looks interesting, stylistic 90's graphics (very duke nuke'm)

I'd wish they make another RTS, a good one. The 3rd instalment was ok, but all they really need to do is revamp the first RTS or just keep the play style and make new scenario's as it was really good.

Welcome to life as a 40k fan, where Games Workshop the license holder is the definition of evil and our video games are hit or miss. We got absolutely amazing ones like Space Hulk Deathwing, Final Liberation, Dawn of War, Space Marine, Mechanicus, and the recent Boltgun, but also absolutely horrible stinkers like Fire Warrior, Glory in Death (which released on the god damn N-Gage lmao), Kill Team, Battle Sister, and the worst of them all Storm of Vengance (which was made by Eutechnyx, creators of the worst game of all time Ride to Hell Retribution)

But hey, eventually we did get a sequel to Space Marine so maybe one day you'll get Dawn of War 4.

Yeah I heard the license has been thrown around. I really like the universe the characters, and DOW and RTS for me is a great combo, with satisfying game play. But I know RTS games have been on a decline for a number of years so that hope is diministing. Not really a fan of FPS anymore, always excited though to see what comes out for 40k games anyway.

Play Mechanicus then if you love strategy. It's an XCOMlike where you play as the Adeptus Mechanicus, the cult of the machine. The Imperium's science division and builders of their weaponry residing on Mars who desire to replace every organic part of their bodies with machine. You go to a planet you believe to be rich in knowledge, only to discover it's a Necron tomb world (Necrons are robot undead) and the entire planet will wake in two weeks unless you can lead your Tech Priests to find a way to stop it.

And of course the game is on Mac
