LED flash for Camera

improved speaker sound quality
dedicated camera button
make touch screen larger i.e. make the black squares a bit smaller
come in different colors

I can't believe no one has mentioned this already (or did I miss it?) ...

The iPhone desperately needs more RAM!!!

DVB-H, slider QWERTY keyboard, memory slot.

But I don't care about such a locked-down platform.

So true. Apps that use over as little as 15 to 20 MB have problems.

Exactly. And it's ridiculous to have to reboot several times each day to free up memory.

  • More RAM as mentioned
  • The original iPhone glass (dont know what it is but the 3G feels different for me!!)
  • WiMax (just for the hell of it)
  • Better Battery (Although the one at the moment is alright-ish)
  • Bit less click to the home button, ever so slightly softer action
  • Front facing camera under the front glass for photobooth (just for the hell of it again)
  • No LED's, but Apple managing to implement their recent second low power LED screen under the main screen patent
  • Digital thermometer (forget location aware, temperature aware lol)

To be brutally honest, for the amount of time Apple has been in the phone business they have done pretty phenomenally, they should be really proud of themselves if you ask me.

More operating RAM.
802.11n.
5mp camera with a flash, and a far superior lens mechanism than the present one, ideally with a cover.
1st gen style side tapering.
Dedicated camera button.
Digital compass for maps.

Obviously 32 GB would be nice.

I would really like something better than the nasty plastic back, but only if doable without utterly destroying reception obviously...

Phazer

-WiFi 802.11n
-3.2 megapixel camera with Auto-Focus (and zoom, but that's more software)
-Higher resolution screen
-Higher capacity battery
-More RAM and higher CPU speed
-32GB
-Removable Battery (why hasn't anyone said this!?)
-Stereo Bluetooth
-Improved sound quality
-A dock included in the box

What won't happen:
-A flash for the camera and dedicated camera button. Apple is all about the looks and those will just make the phone uglier and more confusing to use.
-LED for notifications. With the possible second, low powered screen for notifications an LED at the top of the phone is unlikely. It would only happen if they could make it unnoticeable when it wasn't on, unlike the BBs.
-Thinner. It's not happening if we get a removable battery and more goodies underneath the hood.

And I have a cool idea. If a removable battery cover was put on, then they could put all of the information (like storage space) on the inside of the phone. Then, instead of each phone coming on different colors you could just get one phone and then buy different battery colors with different colors and designs.

Bluetooth

I'm pretty sure the iPhone doesn't have Bluetooth and I've heard that the itouch already has it but it isn't activated for some reason.

Slide Qwerty Keyboard?

I saw someone post a sliding qwerty keyboard for an improvement:confused:, what's the point of that I thought it already has a decent virtual keyboard and adding a keyboard would take away from the sleek and thin look.:p

It's never going to happen, so you don't have to worry.

I would like a CDMA/EVDO radio seeing as I am locked into Verizon. Also, aside from my completely unrealistic fantasies (at least for the next few years), I think that the iPhone needs:
-More RAM
-3 or so MP camera (all Windows Mobile 6.1 phones must have one now, so Apple should want to keep up there)
-802.11N
-Notification Light
-Louder Speakers
-Better vibration mechanism
-Better microphone
-larger NAND capacities
-Extra button available to applications, not the system alone

Really? Not me. With technology the way it is right now, your only shot (no pun intended) at getting decent shots is going to be with a decent- sized sensor and a decent lens. Since the iPhone will obviously have neither, I think the camera is just fine as it is. If you want GOOD pictures, take a REAL camera with an L lens. If you want quick snapshots, the iPhone is fine as-is.

I know I'm going to get lots of people making fun of me for this, but why can't they make a waterproof iPhone in the same way that they make waterproof digital cameras? It sounds plausible, right?

camera doesnt need many holes on it like the iphone does. things like sim eject hole, charging port (since u can take the battery out in most cameras and charge that seperately), and headset jack. all would have to be covered up somehow.

more operating ram and faster CPU is the biggest thing for me. Then a higher resolution screen. the iphone pisses me off at times it can be slow as molasses

dang i already posted... in hindsight i should totally have been a troller and said things like "resistive touch screen w/stylus, full physical qwerty keyboard, get rid of wi-fi" haha

i know its software related, but i wish u could make the double tap of the home button go to any app in the iphone... or if even jus apps that came on the phone like SMS or safari.

I know a better camera requires thicker hardware, but there are a few phones that manage a decently thin size and pack good cameras (nokia comes to mind. not the n95 of course, but they did pack a 3.0mp camera in the E71).

Autofocus or some other control over the picture taking would be nice. It would be cool if the zoom control could be done by multitouch...move two fingers on the screen zooms in the camera.

The iPhone is simply amazing. I don't think it needs anything else ... It's perfect the way it is (ok faster CPU would be nice of course)
:)
