It really doesn't. There are plenty of Sony Erriccson phones with 5mp+ cameras, full autofocus lenses and a flash in much smaller form factors than the iPhone and in just as much space as the iPhone has available thickness wise when you bear in mind the size of their keyboard assemblies.

A much better camera - capable of taking snapshots in dark conditions or worthy of printing out in standard resolutions (6x4' at 300dpi) is prefectly plausible.

The home button thing would be great so you can take self-portrait pictures easily without having to remember where to place your finger. Although a self-portrait mirror would probably help for that also. [cough]Apple[cough]

I believe the camera only activates when you lift your finger off the screen. You could try placing your finger in position before turning the camera and see how it goes.

honestly the BIGGEST two things I want are better camera (3.2 mp w/ auto focus is ALL i ask!) and LOUDER speaker! and when I say loud i mean I want loud! add a speaker if necessary. it is impossible to listen to any videos with any kind of background sounds!!!

then of course everything else stated in here would be nice as well. RAM, camera button, LED, colors would be kool. whatever else.

But Honestly I think the next iphone will have 'minimal' enhancements to the casual observer. things like RAM and processing boosts, reception quality, battery life. things like that. just kinda perk things up a bit. then iphone4.0 is what will be the big upgrade! (right after our iphone 3g's contracts run out... hmmm )

Exactly. And it's ridiculous to have to reboot several times each day to free up memory.

Is this what rebooting does? How does it do this? So, when my iPhone freezes up (which is does every other day), it's because it ran out of RAM?

i would love to have the ability to hook up usb devices with the ipod cable (with an adapter) or maybe have a usb slot (maybe get rid of the ipod dock entirely and replace with usb dock...i know that this wont happen but still i can dream lol)

1) could attach a flash drive for extra storage for say video, maps )with gps apps possibly coming)
2) be able to hook a printer up or again, drop files to a thumb drive
3) import photos on the fly with a card reader add on for example
5) etc


I dont see how hard it could be as the ipod cable has a usb end so it can already interface with usb. All that would be required is to make a finder app (like they have on cydia) that you could then drag and drop files or play movies or whatever

Agreed. I would not call it an absolute must, but it'd be very nice to have a better camera with a flash.

off topic, i was leaving work and i was on my motorcycle with my iphone on my hip (griffin holster, so phone is exposed, headphone jack facing foward!!), i only live a few miles away tho... and i hit a huge area of deep fog/dew whatever its called, ALL i could think of is a little mist getting into that headphone jack and voiding my warranty!!! totally sucked!



what do ya know, when i got back, i hit the home button, nothing happened... tap sleep/wake button, nothing happened. OMG i just water damaged my iphone on a 5 mile ride!!! WTF!


little did i know it was just the start of the typical screen staying black and had to soft reset to get her back, whew!!!

I would like a real QWERTY keyboard that slides out, similar to the N97 and Sony Ericsson Xperia X1. I think the arc slide out design of the X1 is pretty cool and useful. It would be much easier to type on for people with big fingers and who like a tactile feel. PLEASE GIVE ME A REAL QWERTY, PREFERABLY WITH THE ARC SLIDER DESIGN OF THE X1!!!
