Well if there was an event in March that gave us refreshed notebooks then I wouldn’t be expecting them at WWDC. The point is not WWDC, it’s that it’s been a year since macs were updated and given the chips for MacBooks are out now Apple has no excuse unless they need more time fixing the keyboard.

Years ago, We used to get hardware updates at least once and sometimes twice a year. Waiting years now seems to be the norm.

How could their resources be stretched so thin when they are the largest company in the world?

How many engineers does it take to design a keyboard that cannot be defeated by a single speck of dust?

Because it’s a developer conference not a hardware announcement ? Idk why people actually thought it would happen . Very rarely have they done it at WWDC for a while now. You have the iPhone 4, iPad Pro 2017 and the 2013 MacBook.

I had to go look...there have been lots of hardware announcements at WWDC over its history.
There definitely have been a couple breaks to that, but it's more rare to not have any, at least looking at the history on the whole.

And the lack of stuff this Spring, to most people, increased the thought/chance of some hardware this time around again.

Bummage

Yeah it baffles me as well. But it’s the only reason that makes waiting longer for a new MBP more reasonable so I’ll just tell myself that.

History sure but I’m talking recently . Not really and I was only adding the iPhone 4 which is reaching in terms of recent history .

Are there any good features of Mojave that would turn somebody who is prepared to jump ship to buy the MBP 2017?

I like the new security features and I really like my 2016 MBP. The cross-platform stuff should also make it easier for developers making Apps. To each their own.

If you want something else, that’s cool. Just keep in mind that a Dell isn’t going to last as long as your 2010 MBP.

Regardless, the next MBP is going to be a spec-bump, not a complete redesign.

Get the tool that you think will best serve your needs. I’d really like a Mac at work, but it wouldn’t work for what I do.

Don’t get me started on the Mac book air, Mac mini, or Mac Pro.

You went from early 2015 to late 2016 between an update .

Go watch last years WWDC if you haven’t.

Yeah and besides the 2017 MacBook the last one was in 2013 at WWDC. You weren’t going to get one this WWDC and I think I’ve said it in here before WWDC. At best you’ll get one in the fall or even 2019.

Check the link.
It's more mixed than that and the iP4 was not the most recent hardware heavy WWDC.

Besides - the most recent WWDC was hardware heavy, so it's not unreasonable to expect it again - at least for some products.

2017: Hardware announcements included updates to iMac, MacBook and MacBook Pro, as well as the new iMac Pro, 10.5-inch iPad Pro and smart speaker HomePod

2013: In the keynote, Apple unveiled redesigned models of the Mac Pro, AirPort Time Capsule, AirPort Extreme, and MacBook Air

2012: The keynote highlighted the launch of Apple Maps,[1] and also announced new models of the MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro including one with Retina Display

2010: Jobs announced the iPhone 4

2009: the new 13" MacBook Pro, updates to the 15" and 17" MacBook Pros, and the new iPhone 3GS

There is nothing that prevents keyboard failure if thats what you are asking about :p

But the changes to finder and continuity catapults the Mac from already being a very strong OS for document organisation and management, to an absolutely uncontested champion. Actually, I am upgrading to Mojave tonight. I can already see how much time it will save me simply in working with emails and presentations.

I was expecting it because the timing is right, with new hardware just becoming available.

Unfortunately, reality doesn't work like an XCom game. A scientific or engineering tasks doesn't get easier if you throw more people at it.

Please let us know your experience with Mojave.

Something is going on... I think something slipped in the last month and they delayed the refresh.. Either that or they'll do it via a press release or something.

I doubt that they'll do a October event for both iPads & Macbooks.

Things are looking very weird due to the following reasons :

a) Airpower wasn't even mentioned.. Apple what the ????
b) Competition is already rocking 8th gen and the Quad Core i5 punches the current 13" in the face regarding multi threaded stuff.
c) No new SE or iPad? Are we rallying up for a 3 hour event in September or even a 2nd event come October?
d) So that's it? We missing Back to School in 2018 regarding Macs and iPads?...

I have no idea what the heck is going on over at Cupertino at this point tbh...

Due to the keyboard lag, unable to play back youtube videos often, crazy fan and extreme hot issues, continuing to use my MBP 2010 will just drive me crazy. Shall I just buy an iPad PRO 12.9" 2017 first and see if there will be silent updates?

If you absolutely need a new machine right now I'd suggest the 2015 MBP.

How many (apple engineers) does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

nvm, point already made.

The real bottleneck is Jonathan Ives' obsession with thinness at the cost of practicality and functionality.

To add to this list, they also did not mention the Touch Bar at all. Their one huge Mac feature, that was supposed to revolutionise how we use our macs and is only available on high end ones.

It wasn’t even mentioned. They didn’t say people love it. They didn’t add anything to it. They didn’t talk about upgrades to it. It’s like it doesn’t exist.

Not as many as it takes to design

I was hoping JI to show up at the Keynote. Why he did not come out? Feeling shame on making such a bad keyboard?

Functional superior in your opinion

Functional superiority in objective reality (not functional superior), not merely an opinion.

SD card slot
usb ports
thunderbolt (higher speed option)
HDMI port

comfortable, quiet, reliable, durable keyboard

magsafe to protect your investment.

zero dongles (unless you insist on ethernet hard wiring)

superior battery life

Case closed.
