It's an iPod. Its not a camera. Its not a video camera. Its a music device that plays applications. The calling for a camera is silly, as it just makes no sense having on one on a iPod touch. Unless of course you want the device price to skyrocket like the $700 iPhone costs. The iPod Touch is .33 inches thick, iPhone is .48 inches thick. The camera is pretty tall so it would add thickness to the device as well.
Makes no sense. And yes, I own a iPod Touch and iPhone. I don't see why you don't just admit you want the iPhone, minus the phone calling ability for the same price of $200. Thats what it boils down to. Good luck.
It's not an iPod. That's a poor description for something that's rapidly surpassing not only a media player, but also a PDA. I use mine as a mini computer, and having video and still image capture would be extremely handy, especially given the 3 Gs's video quality. Yes, I've used it, just today.
Just because YOU don't want it, doesn't make it silly, and it doesn't mean there aren't tons of people that would find this addition useful.
Also, where do you get the information that the camera component of the iPhone is solely what drives the price to $700 unsubsidized? Do you have an inside Apple contact? A 3 million pixel camera with video drives it up $400? Really?
I'm fairly certain you will be. In 04' there wasn't an i Phone. Period. There is no way to compare the market we're in now to the market in 04. Also, Apple isn't going to upgrade the camera seeing as how they want to sell as many i Phones as they can. The iPod Touch is a music device, not a phone. If you want a camera buy a i Phone. Case closed.
Apple isn't going to sell any iPhones to me, no matter how hard they try, because they refuse to release the device on something other than AT&T. I, however, still want the other features of the iPhone that the Touch doesn't have. Also, I fail to see how removing the phone portion of the iPhone and calling it an iPod Touch immediately makes it ridiculous to have a camera on it. Look at what you're effectively saying:
"If you want a camera, buy a phone."
Yeah, because that makes more sense than a "media player" with a camera.
15 years ago, people would have told you the notion of having a camera on a phone is ridiculous. Look at where we're at today.
And I repeat: the iPod Touch is more than a media player. It is exponentially more functional than any PDA I've used in 15 years, yet it continually is viewed as the iPhone's retarded little brother. Why? Because it doesn't have the phone part or the camera. Wow, big difference.
