Have to go against the crowd here, I think the 6/6S is the best. Also, the rounded design was pretty much mandatory for the larger phones; especially the 6 Plus. Those sharp edges would be a literal pain after extended use. The continuous curve between the glass and the case looks most elegant and feel incredible in the hand.

Second place goes to slate 5, tied with Gold 5S.

5 series hands down is the sexiest, only beats the 4 series by a thin margin. Now if they combined the glass panel of the 4 series and the chamferred edge aluminum of the 5 series then we may have an all time favorite.

Slate 5 and silver 5S are my two favorites. The black 4/4S is close. i don't mind the design of the 6/6S, but it's not as elegant as the silver 5S or as badass as the slate 5.

6S Plus is the first iPhone screen I ever shattered. I'd like it more if the curvature was in the metal edging and not in the glass. In other words I'd like the curves of the aluminum to come up and meet a flat glass screen. That would reduce the incidence of screens shattering due to corner impacts.

If they could have colored the antenna lines to disguise them better and adjusted the device thickness so that the camera ring would not be needed, I would be more impressed with the 6/6 Plus design.

I think the bezels on all of the models are large in a slightly gawky way.

I think it was funny how a few people were impressed with the look and feel of the original iPhone and believed it was iPhone 7 in the Jimmy Kimmel segment.

I'd have to go with iP4 first then iP5 afterwards.

The original iPhone will always have a place at the top though (imo), simply because it was the foundation.

4/4S > 5/5S > 6/6S > Original > 3G/3GS

I loved the glass on glass iPhone 4 one of the best designed phones ever. The 5 was so thin, the perfect thickness for a phone IMO, and felt great the first time I held it. I absolutely love the design of the 6, but its almost too thin and the antenna lines place it behind the other two in terms of design. The original was nice to hold and is iconic, but with the exception of the 3G each new design has been better than the original. The 3G/3GS years were rough, I always wondered why Apple ditched the Aluminum for plastic. I was so glad when they went back to a phone designed with premium materials with the iPhone 4.

White iPhone 4/4s. The way the white glass reflected the light and the simplicity yet complexity of the design was down right beautiful. A PITA to repair, but beautiful.

I'll never forget the summer of 2010 when the i4 was unveiled. It was the first iPhone that actually made me want to get an iPhone. Beautiful design and a fantastic camera, especially in comparison to the phones out at the time. That was the last iPhone that came out, that was legit a game changer. Man, the summer of 2010 was probably my favorite phone launch period. iPhone 4 vs. Droid X vs. HTC Evo vs. The Original Galaxy S. Good times.

My second favorite design is the 5S, particularly the gold. Absolutely beautiful, especially with the gold ring around the home button. Just overall badass.

Third favorite design is the current 6/6S. I particularly love the space gray and silver. Classy look that clearly shows the iPod 5th generation was the inspiration.

It's hard to judge past aesthetics from our current viewpoint. When the design for the iPhone 4 came out, it was stunning. Now, of course it looks dated.

I really do like the look of an un-cased iPhone 6/6s the most at this point. However, if I were to judge this based on my reaction at the time I first saw a design, I would pick the 4.
It's interesting that when the design of the 4 was leaked from that lost prototype at a bar there was so much negativity here toward it in various long threads, and then it becomes the greatest design ever.

God yes. Fantastic times for phones. I loved my Droid X. Such a beast with 512MB RAM and a 228ppi 4.3-inch screen that everyone thought was simply monstrous. lol

5 slate black looks the coolest - when the replaced the dark grey with a lighter space grey on the 5s it lost its cool, too much contrast johny. It looks like they have darkened down the grey now though, the space grey of the apple watch sport is really cool again, not quite as dark as the slate iPhone 5, but not far off it and much darker than the 6 plus slate grey.
promotion shots on the apple website show it much darker, but not sure how it looks in person.
The 6 looks the most futuristic with the curves, if they grey is darkened down and they change the rubber band design on the back the 6 could be as nice a design as the 5

I had a Droid X too. I still remember how everybody was like "omg, the screen is sooooo huge" Lol. Tbh, the X is still to this day, one of the best phones I've ever used. IMO it's the best smartphone Moto has ever done. The only thing that I honestly didn't like about it, is Moto not putting a front camera on it. To this day, I don't know why they didn't do that. I hated how Verizon and Moto abandoned the Droid X line. After the fiasco that was the Droid X2, I was hoping Moto would come out swinging with a badass true successor to the X.

So far I have experienced the iPhone 3G, 4 and 5C and like the 5C the most: smooth, clean design, nothing "out of place" and fits my hand perfectly. More like these, please! :)

I loved the sleekness of the 4/4S, and how it had such elegance being all glass. That was my vote for most attractive.

But I sure do love my slick, silver 5S. It's such a gorgeous phone, and almost tied for first place for me.

But the backs of the 6/6S, with those thick antenna lines just look horrible. The front and sides, cool; the back, ugh.

Design appeal ranked in order:

iPhone 4/4S iconic,.. classic.. Nearly a tie with...
iPhone 5/5S A close second with an edge for the 5S with the print reader sensor button.

iPhone 5C Very rich feel for a composite body; luxurious tactile feel, and I'm disappointed there isn't a composite 6C version of the iPhone 6

iPhone 2G original

iPhone 6/6S I think it's too thin.

iPhone 3G/3GS Not sure what happened at House of Apple design with those.

I had forgotten how damned pretty the 5/5S was until I was changing my mom's case out for her last night. Damn, that's a sharp phone.

@zorinlynx Made the poll viewable only after voting. Good thinking :p

Honestly, I've loved every version of the iPhone for some reason and all had their merits. If I had to choose, I'd say the slate iPhone 5 followed closely by the space gray 5S were the best. They refined the design of the 4/4S, had the sleek metal back, the two glass panels that I actually liked, colored antenna rim, and the chamfered* edge looked really class, at least in photos. It was dramatically lighter than any model before or after it. I never owned the 5 or 5S.

3G/3GS: Didn't really like the design, but they felt great in the hand and looked cool with the curved back.

4/4S: really close to best design. They felt like heavy duty machinery, but there was a lot of phone for such a small screen.

6/6S: my 2nd place. Contrary to what other's think, I think the back of the iPhone 6/6S Space Gray is beautify. I don't mind the antenna lines. I love how the recessed volume buttons look, and although the curved display gets on my nerves at times from light reflection, I think it's a beautiful detail.

I will say that the chamfered edges looked really sleek on the black models, but made the front of the white iPhone look too busy to m. If you look at the screenshots, the iPhone 6 is beautifully simple when viewed from the front.
