I simply don't understand how many here use the mighty mouse. It is single-handedly the worst mouse I've ever used. Especially at its price. Anyway, I switch back and forth between a VX Revolution and a VX Nano.

I'm using a Might Mouse and it isn't that bad. The first one I had the ball got stuck so I ended up buying a new one. Had I know that my Applecare for my laptop also covered the mouse.

Cool!!! B)
Have you done this yourself? Was there any noticeable change to tracking accuracy or responsiveness? Any other potential problems?

I'm looking for a cordless (non BT) mouse with (optional) nano receiver that will work well for precision graphical work. Do you think that the VX Revolution could be the one?

TIA

Yes, I use the Nano receiver with my VX Revolution on my MBP. If you look on the Logitech forums, I've used this screenname to answer a lot of the questions that some might have. Best twelve bucks I ever spent, the VX Nano receiver for my VX Revolution. I had some trouble syncing it, but I wrote about how to get it to work on the Logitech Forums. 99% of the time, I forget it's plugged in b/c the Nano receiver is that small.

I game (Dawn of War, Counterstrike, Team Fortress, Left4Dead, Oblivion, Dawn of War II) on my MBP in BootCamp. Little to no loss of responsiveness. And I'm a former CAL-I level CS player. I don't know about graphical work, b/c I'm not a graphics guy but I have to tell you, I doubt you will need more sensitivity than a gamer.

So yeah, VX Revolution with a VX Nano receiver is the way to go.

MX Revolution is another setup entirely.

For the love of everything that's good and honorable in this world - can you please use IMHO if you're making such sweeping statements.

All he said twas that it was the worst mouse that he has used, especially at it's price point. Not that it was the worst mouse ever of any kind.* Then he said that he frequently uses Logitech mice. Nothing wrong with that.

*That would be silly, we all know that that "honor" goes to the puck mouse.

I use a wired Mighty Mouse. And the damn wheel scrolls my window up, no matter the direction I scroll it in. Quite annoying. (That's when it decides to do anything - half the time it does absolutely nothing)

Edit - forgot this is the MBP section. When I'm on my MBP, I don't use a mouse. The Mighty Mouse is on my iMac.

How can you give such a glowing review about a mouse that suffers from this defect?

well, i use the mouse like 7 hours a day, and i leave it on all the time. I admit BT wasnt my first choice, but i didnt want to use up a USB port for a mouse.

Tried looking for your posts on Logitech forums. Couldn't find them. How can I use my VX Nano receiver with my VX Rev?

You can get the RocketFish Bluetooth mouse for between $6-10 on ebay if you want to go that route. I've bought quite a few things from BestBuy on ebay and overstock and it all looks new.

I recently purchased Rocketfish BT Mouse and keyboard from ebay for $10.5 and $22 respectively :) They are yet to arrive.

It looks like BestBuy has discontinued BT Mouse. They still sell the keyboard though.

Logitech V470

When using a wireless mouse I'm not going to have a USB receiver plugged into my computer! My Mac has Bluetooth!!

I also have a Logitech V150. I don't like changing batteries on wireless keyboard/mouse, so if I don't have some batteries lying around for the V470 when they run out, I'll use the V150.

Sweet! 8D¨
This (together with the posts on the logitech forum) sounds promising indeed! The trick seems to be to get the older nano receiver with P/N 993-000057, as the newer ones doesn't seem to work with the (newer?) VX Revolutions..... right??

i currently use the mighty mouse. it is honestly for aesthetic looks. my mouse does drop sometimes, and the right and left clicks doesn't register sometimes. but overall, it doesn't bother me that much.

In all honesty this new ( May 2009 ) MBP is the first notebook I have not felt the need to tie down with a mouse.

I like the track pad so much that if Apple made a Keyboard with this Trackpad built in, I would ban mice from my house!!!!!

C'mon Apple gimme a keyboard with this trackpad on the side !!!! :D

I would think a gamer would need speed response, where in graphics art work you want positioning accuracy ( probably down to pixel level )

Two different worlds with two different needs, at least that's how I look at it.

average use...

Hey guys, I'm getting the new 13mbp 2.26 in a week or two and I've been starting to look at all the accessories I'm going to get. I've never used a mac before. This will be for grad school. So at class and in the library and such, I'll be using the trackpad. But at home, when working at my desk, I plan to have a mouse. The logitechs seem like nice mice. So questions...

I take it wireless is the way to go?

Is the nano receiver a good idea over the bigger ones? (in case I end up taking the mouse with me for a day when I'm out and busy all day perhaps, it may not happen much I would do that, but you never know)

Thinking about it, it would be nice if there was a button to use for spaces, so I could quickly switch between them, as I intend to be making good use of spaces.

So far it seems like v550 nano vs vx nano. Good battery life would be nice so I'm not constantly changing or charging things. Best Buy has the mx rev on sale for $50, but it seems a common complaint that the battery life is really bad, so I'm starting to rule that one out despite the sale price.

Suggestions?

Vx Nano

I used to use the vx nano, brilliant mouse with great reception.
Built to last and great to carry around.
I haven't had to use it since getting the mbp though as I love the gestures on the trackpad. With editing and other fine tuning i'd go back to using the nano.
