I watched an oldie but a goodie last night, Beetlejuice.
A great, disturbing noir. Do not read anything about it. Hope you enjoy it.
It was quite good, I enjoyed much. Jack was his usual great self, IMO, and played the part well I thought.
Just got back from seeing Gravity in 3D. I really liked it. My wife and son thought it was just ok.
Life Is Beautiful (1997)
One of the greatest movies I have ever seen. This movie is a roller coaster of emotions.
Just seen Thor 2. As I haven't seen Thor 1, The Avengers Assemble, Captain America or Iron Man, I thought it would make it difficult to follow. However it really didn't matter. It was not the greatest to be honest, but my friend was quite insistent.
I finally saw this after years of hearing that. Not impressed myself. But I'm obviously in the minority on this one.

Thor 2? Boot leg?

To put it this way, most people would praise those who are under agonizing and yet creating comfort or happiness while suffering, considering them strong, precious, and deserve to be admire.
Now "Life is Beautiful" offer more than that, it's the ultimate diabolical hellish sadistic theme(waiting to be butchered), for a child who has no awareness of or capacity to realize and handle the depth of the cruelty; among them you see not just parental care, it's the ultimate protection of a sprout with paramount effectiveness to against the hostile situation, the sublime spirit to create emotional security in the child's mental state, and the epitome of altruism - the very best kind of quality that human trying to achieve.
The movie shows he triumphs, despite in reality his chance are extremely low, when his son finally sees the the tanks from US, the prize of "the game". That is the grandeur idea that set this movie apart.
Thor 2 was released early in other countries.
And I'm with you re: Life is Beautiful.
Watching Giorgio Moroder's version of Metropolis. Very unique and quite an experiment. Overall I like it. Giving it some kind of 80s videoclip appeal, much faster pace, tinted colors and subtitles (!) instead of the usual intertitles. It's probably a hit and miss with the music, I like Moroder a lot btw, but there are parts that work just brilliantly, so it's already worth watching for those alone in my opinion.
Even more outstanding/radical than the music is the usage of subtitles though. Lang used quite a lot of text, intertitles being shown also for a really long time for modern eyes, so getting rid of them is really changing the experience.
Interesting. I just added it to my queue in Netflix for later viewing.
Wonder what you'll think!
You know the original though? Not sure if I'd recommend it if not, would hate to see you disliking it altogether because of this version.
I like the instrumental parts best, although Freddy was a nice surprise. I expected a bit more tbh, given his previous, enigmatic soundtracks (Scarface, Midnight Express, American Gigolo...) but it's worth a shot I'd say.
