Watched Skeleton Twins yesterday. I liked it. Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig have some great chemistry together.

This Means War - I can see why Tom Hardy has sworn off Rom-Coms. I can't stand them myself but Hardy vs. Pine is hard to resist. Mindless time killer.

Dirty Harry

Unforgiven

Star Trek the Motion Picture - wow I remember not liking this when I saw it theatrically, but it was pretty cold for a ST movie.

Star Trek II Wrath of Khan - Still pretty darn great.

Star Trek III The Search for Spock - In light of seeing the reboot Star Trek recently and liking it, the third Original crew film is insane as far as plotting goes. I do like Lt. Saavik. It was neat to see a female Vulcan in Starfleet.

Annabelle was pretty good. Above average for some horror movies but still nothing to write home about. But, the people did their homework on demons, they did a GREAT job with the demon in this movie.

Ender's Game (2013)- good faithful telling of the novel. Better than I expected.

Alien - I was hollering at the crew - "Don't go in that air duct!" etc. Very creepy and I was surprised at how creepy the strobe lighting was toward the climax of the movie. Outside of The Duelists, Alien remains my favorite Ridley Scott movie.

LOL...who am I to argue with comic book man?

So Stretch Not sure where Universal studios thought the 'thriller' angle was more like action comedy crime lite. And, alas, nowhere near as funny/insane as the posted blooper reel. But it was a lot of fun if you park your mature head in the garage and let immature brain go wander.

"Stretch" is the down on his luck wannabe actor now limo driver who owes a bit of money to the foreign mafias for his gambling debt which must be paid by midnight. His job fixes him up with his potential debt clearing next drive in crooked and twisted young billionaire Roger Karos. Mayhem ensues in a very PG kind of way and it all ends happily ever after - kind of. I was kind of surprised at how low the threat levels felt. I'd love to see another Carnahan movie where Patrick Wilson and Chris Pine team up. They were tons of fun when they shared the screen and there wasn't nearly enough of them together. A good rental if you like the wonky WTH action and aren't expecting anything.

A great sci-fi horror film, despite the stupid acts of the crew. When it comes to humans, can you really say, they would not have done that? ;)

Such as, did they forget how to do x-Rays in the future? I know the android with an agenda was responsible for letting Kane on the ship, but I don't believe he was behind letting him come out of quarantine. That might have been Dallas.

Just got to the bit when the waters coming in. I think I might know how this ends.

When I first heard of this movie and that it was 3+ hrs long, I feared that it would be 2+ hrs of bordom followed by 1 hr of excitement. My fears were groundless, and it confirmed my view that no matter how much of an ass Cameron is in his personal life, for movie creation, he is a genius. :)

Tbh when the movie appeared to be over, I looked at the clock and there was another 40 minutes! I think it it could have been a little shorter.

Agreed. That's a good question I really do not know if the humans would not have done that.

Geez, I can't remember zip lately, but I think you're right regarding Dallas. If anything, I think Ian Holm was as scary as the alien.

He set the tone for bad androids so effectively that I kept expecting a secret agenda from Bishop too! :)

He sure did. :)

Ironically, Lance Henriksen was going to play the Terminator before Arnuld met with James Cameron. I was wary of Bishop too when I saw Aliens way back when, but I suppose the bad android was not repeated until Michael Fassbender in Prometheus? (haven't seen that. My Alien enjoyment stops after the first two films.)

The "Alien" movies after Aliens (Alien 3 and Alien Ressurection) were unworthy. I feared it going in and fears were justified especially AR. I Did not care for the Aliens vs Predator movies either, but loved Predator.

I used the term "bad android", but in reality, they do what they have been programmed/told to do by those who have authority over them. Although David, the android in Prometheus was bad, it became clear he had no moral framework that guided him. Some Aliens fans hated Prometheus, but more for the probable reason, it did not follow the early films formula. I thought it was an outstanding piece of cinematic art furthering the Aliens story.

Not sure about the latter but I liked Prometheus pretty much regardless. Especially that android/Fassbender was good. The scene where he impersonates/mimics the actor (Peter O' Toole) of Lawrence From Arabia was a good one.

The only real problem I had with Prometheus was that the crew was much too comical in a not so good way (unbelievable up to being cheesy - as opposed to the Nostradamus crew in Alien). The pathetic captain (Stringer Bell, forgot his name) was too much for me.

Think it was that scene from LoArabia:

I agree with you on the later Aliens movies. I didn't mind Alien 3 so much, but Resurrection was beyond dumb to me with too many technical errors that transcended the 'suspension of disbelief' we need to enjoy films.

I liked Prometheus as a back story film, but it too had a lot of technical problems and some story problems too which didn't fit the theme and or/left you wondering about things.

Interesting that you view the Captain, (Janek- Idris Elba) as pathetic. Are we talking about the same character? He struck me initially as "I'm just doing my job", but he was moral and courageous, volunteering to make the ultimate sacrifice for the human race, as compared to self serving (perceived) Meridith Vickers.

As far as comical characters, I recently said, we can hold the director responsible for introducing these characters into the story, but it's the characters craven or brave that make a story, and we really can't say what a person would do, if they are the right person for a mission. You have to consider this is not the Apollo Missions. This projects to a time in the future when space travel is more routine, where you'd be more likely to see bad attitudes on the job, just like in the original Alien when several crew members bickered over pay.

For Prometheus, I thought Fifield was an angry (for whatever the unexplained reason), possibly anti-social character and Milburn (the guy who gets a critter wrapped around his arm) was an idiot. And again, off with the helmets, but in this movie, as with the original Alien, it made no difference, but seems basically wrong when it comes to avoiding alien contamination in general. :)
