Just watched inglorious bastards. Not really what I was expecting from QT. A bit too much subtitles for me. Also didn't understand why the SS guy changed sides. Also factually pretty sure Hitler didn't die in a cinema in Paris (unfortunately) in 1944.

Yeah, I would have to say that IB was my least favorite of Tarantino... second least favorite (but still good) was Jackie Brown, but no one likes that one haha

loved it. bought the dvd too!

Fantastic movies, two absolute classics.

Absolutely brilliant, wonderful and classic films. Some of the best out there IMO.

Agree completely.

While - in general - I like Tarantino, to an even greater extent, (as a historian) I like my history to be accurate; even as a send up, this movie doesn't work for me.

Its been quite a while since I seen it. Its one of those movies that is based on 'some' truth, but is more for entertainment, than re-telling an old story.

Again, must say that it is a movie that doesn't work - at all - for me.

Why the (redundant) 'ha-ha'? Where on earth did you get the idea that 'no-one likes' Jackie Brown?

Actually, I, for one, love Jackie Brown - a middle aged female lead who kicks ass - what is there not to like? Me, I love it…….it is, without doubt, one of my personal favourite Tarantino movies…..

I just meant that it is kinda his least popular of all his movies. I do enjoy it, but i enjoy it least of all the other ones.

Turned on the TV a little while ago when I arrived home from work and Hannibal was on BBC America. Always a good flick.

Saw Nightcrawler with Jake Gyllenhaal. The movie was pretty good, but his performance was amazing. His best performance so far. Reminded me of de niro from Taxi Driver.

I really like Gyllenhaal, but I'm thinking of waiting for the dvd of that one. I am interested, but about as interested as I was in Prisoners, which I was fine waiting for the dvd (from the library). He is a really powerful actor, and I really like him, but I'm gonna save my $10 for the movie ticket for something else, though. (Interstellar!)

Last week my boys watched Flubber. As much as I like Robin Williams, his performance turned the absentminded professor into something darker, and I found I no longer care for the movie. This week we got The Absent Minded Professor, and it turns out I had forgotten how ridiculous the movie was. Added to the way Disney discards it's child actors, I can't really enjoy that one anymore, either. My boys liked both, though.

Maleficent - To be honest, it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Angelina Jolie was great, but the rest of the movie was kind of blah. I was expecting something a bit more.. edgy, along the lines of the evil queen in Snow White and the Huntsman.

The Maze Runner - We quite enjoyed this one. Yeah, it's another movie with a bunch of teens in a dystopian future. But the twist at the end was pretty cool.

An American Werewolf In London - One of the few scary movies we watched last week before Halloween. I hadn't seen it before, but I enjoyed it.

Saw 1, 2 - I admit, I'd never seen the first ones in the series. I'm not a fan of torture movies, and these were no exception. I guess they're good for what they are, but I wasn't very impressed.

I think the original Saw was really good in terms of being a horror mystery/psychological thriller. When it came out I had not seen another movie quite like it and while it was explicit/graphic it also had a great plot line with a great villain. I think the subsequent sequels have left a bad taste and make it hard for others to judge the original as a stand alone which is how I prefer to think of it.

When I am home one of my guilty pleasures is watching 'Downton Abbey', preferably with a glass of some serious beverage to keep me company while I do so; it is currently being broadcast on ITV (the independent British network) on Sunday nights. next Sunday is the final episode of this season (although the 'Christmas Special' will be doubtless broadcast on Christmas Day)

Actually, this is the first season since the first season (back in 2010) where my travel and work commitments have meant that I have caught almost every episode - I missed most of the past three seasons due to work abroad.

Thumbs up for American Werewolf :)

When the horror genre has to rely on graphic violence and torture to try to be scary, then it has not succeeded. I might be contradicting myself, but I remember gruesome things and graphic violence used for good effect in the first Friday the Thirteenth, but even then the scary part was the pursuit, not as much what happened after being caught. The pursuit was the cake, the bits of graphic violence was the icing, not long drawn out torture sequences which my understanding movies like Hostile has, but have avoided because of reports.

I've seen Saw 1 and 2, and never any more. I don't why I viewed them as I found them quite disturbing. I've decided to never watch that type of movie ever again.

I've seen the first five... kinda as a thing with friends. Personally, I thought they were annoying and distasteful. I liked the first one, but beyond that.... not for me.

Thought I was going to see Interstellar this weekend at the theater, but then I started reading reviews and decided to hold off. Looking for a report from anyone who leaps. :)
