If you are referencing me, my only determination is to know a bit about what I'm walking into as there is quite a spectrum of likes and dislikes wrapped around personal taste. :)
I do not wish to be party to the spoiling of this type of movie. If fellow MacRumors members should choose not to listen to my suggestion, there is a whole internet full of spoilers awaiting them just outside. Please delete your quote of my review from this post. Thank-you.

I altered my reply, but I certainly won't delete it. The link provides a service for those who like myself want to know more. They don't have to read it if they don't want to so don't feel guilty. ;)

You can do as you wish with your own writing. My request was for you to delete my review which you have quoted in that same post. Please remove it at your earliest convenience. :)

Some indie 'Fu today.

V.I.P. (1978) - good for Yasauki Kurata and Chan Wai Man's mano-a-mano and some good fights between them and the rest of the cast who were definitely sleep walking through this would be diamond heist / triad vs. cops / fu film. Thankfully those two have so much charisma to spare you don't even give a toot about any other character.

Blooded Treasury Fight (1979) David Chiang and Chan Wai Man two great tastes that taste great together... well okay, I'll be good. This was another heist fu film with everyone but Chan being something other than their characters would have you believe. And it gets bloody. Chiang strangely made me think of the 80s / 90s comic book Wolverine here with his tough guy English dub, thick side burns and little guy I-don't-care-if-I-live-or-die schtick. He may very supplant Hugh Jackman as Logan in my head cannon because I swear I was watching Larry Hama's Logan without claws. Chan was delightfully evil as usual, delivered some nasty claw (either Tiger or Eagle claw) fu deployed in the final fight too. I'd be curious to see this in a restored print, native language dub and uncut.

From Russia With Love (1963)- Great theme. The real Ernst Stavro Blofeld and cat (both uncredited), motivate by other than sibling rivalries. :p Venice, Istanbul, Bulgaria, Zagreb, back to Venice. Sean Connery's Bond could pull off the quips and he kind of has a thing for Tatiana the Russian (Italian actress) girl who helps him steal the Lecter decoder. A very young and blond, Robert Shaw plays the SPECTRE agent after Bond. This was my first James Bond, nothing hokey or over the top, one of my five favorite Bonds. :)

Great film!

Possibly my favourite Bond. We share similar tastes in movies, I think. :)

I'm not a fan of the newer films. :( The old ones always had a bit of tongue in cheek, were funnier, more charming and had better villains.

A test might be if you loved QoS. :D

The franchise, as time went by, became more silly and outlandish reaching a low point with Roger Moore whom I dispised as Bond. In his prime, Connery was the best IMO, handsome but rugged, not pretty. Quips coming from him, felt natural. Craig carries Bond with his character, but is not handsome and quips coming from Craig, although an outstanding Bond, always felt forced as in do I really have to say this? ;)

The new Casino Royale lifted the franchise with flying colors, Craig's Bond had a great start, with real, not hokey action.

I've always been puzzled why QoS is held in such distain, as it a direct continuation of the CR story and Dominic Greene was a worthy villian, along with Mr White and the sinister Quantum organization. A great Bond film contains great chases, and Quantum delivered with 3 outstanding choreographed sequences. Rarely have I been pulled into a Bond story at the outset with a riveting car chase (QoS).

Just saw The Martian in 3D. Just my sister and me alone in the theater on a Thursday afternoon (HEAVEN!!). After needing to find a manager to fix the 3D projection so we could watch it without nausea, we both thought it is an excellent movie. They were even kind enough to rewind the movie after they fixed it so we didn't miss anything, lol. No contrived bad guy and no gratuitous last minute deaths like so many movies do "just when you think everyone is safe". Everything seemed plausible (although I know a few facts were stretched, like the wind on Mars) and it was a feel-good, everyone-working-together-to-make-it-happen movie. Very enjoyable!

Wish more sci-fi movies were like this one so there might be fewer people with crazy conspiracy theories of some evil people plotting against us with technology. It's gotten to the point where some people need to go live in a cave to get away from the chem trails and GMOs, lol. cuckoo!
