K Pax. Seen it before, but years ago.
The banana scene still makes me gag though.

Great performances from two good actors.

So, that's the name of THAT movie....

Not bad, but i kinda lost interest half way through. The only thing good were the chases. And i dunno who the heck that guy was supposed to be with the flame thrower guitar.

Kept my attention.

That movie was 90% chases. :) The drums and guitar guy were inspirational and just plain cool, you know, like the Scots playing bagpipes during WWII battles. :)

The other day I watched Macbeth (1948).
In fog-dripping, barren and sometimes macabre settings, 11th-century Scottish nobleman Macbeth is led by an evil prophecy and his ruthless yet desirable wife to the treasonous act that makes him king. But he does not enjoy his newfound, dearly-won kingship... Restructured, but all the dialogue is Shakespeare's.

Life Gamble (1978) One of my favorite Chang Cheh films and a Shaw Brothers movie that owes everything to spagetti westerns. I love the triple and quadruple crosses the characters pull on each other in order to get the prized He Huan Jade. Gambling, knife fights, flag fu and a now noble blacksmith who traded his weapons making for a new kung fu technique makes for a great movie. And a downright laughably bad movie if you watch the English dub, but still...always great fun to watch this one. And my love of the blacksmith character earned me a vintage SB poster in a trivia contest.

My Rebellious Son (1982) Sweet Sun Chung family fu tale about nationalism and the growing lawlessness produced by local town officials who want to sell out to foreigners. Fu Sheng and his medicinal shop owner pop put an end to foreign corruption but not before both men learn lessons from each other. Of course, my favorite scenes are with the seven samurai (ha!) hired by the corrupt officials to get rid of any freethinkers. The Japanese are a hoot and fall in comedic line with everyone else, I love their leader the intensely abusive Mr. Yamaguchi. He smacks his brethren so hard they flip over. Not my favorite Sun Chung film, but a nice one to break up all the deliciously crazy, deep and dark wuxias he did before and after it.

As the second one is on at the cinema shortly, this is getting a rerun tonight.

A great cast and a great film for me. As a former magician the film really works for me.
Twists and turns you don't see coming as well.

Last night I watched Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007) and enjoyed it quite well.
The infamous story of Benjamin Barker, AKA Sweeney Todd, who sets up a barber shop down in London which is the basis for a sinister partnership with his fellow tenant, Mrs. Lovett. Based on the hit Broadway musical.
