Tomorrow, R1!!
Later this evening after I buy new glasses. I've been shoe-horned into seeing it 2x but that's fine. I'm honestly more jazzed to hang out with my friend this evening and family later this week than actually see it. Though I can honestly say I already like K-2SO and Cassian.

Re: Fury Road. Hugh Keayes-Bryne too. He made the first Mad Max and he was awesome in this one too.

Interesting, because when I think of the the original Mad Max, I tend to think of The Road Warrior which was Mad Max 2. I don't remember much if anything about the original including Hugh Keayes-Brycne (Toecutter) whom I might of guessed you were referring to Humungus (TRW) or even Wes (Humungus's Lt). :) Maybe I should watch that.

Was the original MM or was TRW the first of these movies to feature extensive chase sequences? Fury Road IMO is the most polished and visually stunning with great choreographed sequences and compleletly magnificent vehicles. I WANT the Gigahorse! :)

I liked the first one, but then they just tried to keep it going, but failed.

I had to re-watch Mad Max, and still really don't care for it. But, I love The Road Warrior, Beyond Thunderdome and now Fury Road. Watching Thunderdome, there are still bits that really don't make sense, but you "just gotta run with it". And, so many funny lines.

I loved how they threw out any sort of story for Fury Road, and it's just a long, great car chase. With Charlize Theron.

I couldn't stomach any of the Home Alone's.

Hey, there is a story: Furiousa is spiriting away Immoten Joe's prized breeders to a new life. Joe objects. Mad Max finds himself in the middle and helps himself by helping the girls. Nux transforms into a good guy. :):)

:) I never caught any of that. Distracted. I'll watch it again.

Yeah, there was a story. I didn't let it get in the way. ;-)

Yup, Toecutter (jeez Hugh was really awful. Such a great villain). I was thrilled to see him work with George Miller again (actually if Miller's Justice League was greenlit, Hugh would have been the Martian Manhunter). I like Hugh.

I prefer the original Max and Fury Road to those which came between, the main reason being the villains and the support characters. The villains weren't as slimy, nasty enough and the support cast in RW and the kids in Thunderdome kick those down a few notches for me anyway.

I kind of liked Rogue One, more in that thread.

The original Mad Max and The Road Warrior are still my two favorite movies in the Mad Max franchise. Fury Road was good, but there were some scenes that were so far fetched that it took me out of the movie. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but not my favorite.

Beyond Thunderdome was horrible in my opinion. Horrible.

I just watched "Rogue One" which I loved.........

I really saw nothing I could call far fetched. :):)

Super Bodyguard (2016) Awesome fighter Wu Lin gets tied up in mob drama and ultimately tracks down his sadistic father. Said pop threw him off a cliff when he was young since the boy's mother died giving birth to him. Everything bad in the father's life can be traced back to Wu Lin...and that's only revealed in the 3rd act. Until then, we see Wu Lin performing all kinds of not fun fake martial arts (so much wirework and c.g.i. I just started laughing as he unleashes his Iron Kick kung fu). What does it say that I didn't care about any character except for the father (well, okay, he was played by Chan Wai Man and this was one of CWM's better current roles). Still, it would have been nice to sympathize with Wu Lin but he was so 2D (even though his skills could be 3D). I think this would have worked much better as a period piece or wuxia given the absolute phoniness of the fighting. At least in current wuxias and such the endless stylized editing, c.g.i. and such can almost work. Glad I didn't waste money on this one.

I really enjoyed the sci-fi movie Passengers!

It is a rare 70's style utopian science fiction movie, despite the current popularity of dystopian material. The two leads are believable and have good chemistry and the script is well written and logical. The set design is out of this world!

It has sadly been underrated by professional reviewers because of the moral dilemma posed in the movie. I haven't seen a similar protest about other movies such as Gone Girl which portray questionable character ethics, but in the case of Passengers it seems to have poisoned the objective assessment of the film. (Here's an example.)

Personally, I haven't enjoyed a sci-fi movie this much in years - it's an old school treat. A

(I haven't gone into the plot, because I believe it is better enjoyed unspoiled, but for those who want to read more about Passengers, I recommend this review from the Empire Online website, which generally has exceptional insight on science fiction movies.)
