There seems to be more fidelity in this regard lately. Most short cuts or inaccuracies seem to be in support of a desired narrative or just ignorance. If you have not seen The Martian, I'd recommend reading it then seeing the movie.
The Martian is next on my list. However, in accordance with your advice, I shall read the book prior to viewing the film. I seem to enjoy reading books, rather than watching the movie, more lately anyway. Books just seem to allow me to "live within the story", that is not as easily done with the movie.

Excellent. :) You'll find that the movie takes a shortcut or two, including to make the ending more exciting.

The opening scene when they introduce the seekers bedroom is how I imagine @kazmac's bedroom looked!

Film was okay, but I think I'd rather have watched Monkey Magic. More fun.

I will gladly take this hit upon my fu loving self: if my Shaw Brothers and Kung Fu posters became animated, I don't think you'd ever hear from me again. :p Of course with my big and rather frank mouth, I'd probably wind up dead in some Sun Chung wuxia.

My dear friend who also loves Shaws and I were horsing around with the Chinese horoscope and discovered my "perfect match" is the man in my avatar, Mr. David Chiang (a.k.a. The Shanghai Wolverine). Trust me, when you see him slaughtering boatloads of people in Vengeance! you'll completely understand why he's usurped Hugh Jackman as my Logan. With that in mind, I celebrated by watching The Deadly Duo (1971) a breezy, easy early Iron Triangle Shaws in which beefcake broody Ti Lung and agile assassin Little Bat (Chiang) attempt to rescue a prince and ultimately engage in a body count contest dripping with very fake looking weapons, wounds and awful stuntmen. Oh, but those two are sooooooo cute, so I forgive everything else.

Why, yes, I seriously "NEED" this poster.

Anyone here seen the new Star wars movie?

If so is the new Star wars movie better than one last year?

We went Bollywood and watched "3 Idiots". It was actually quite good, plenty enjoyable and even had some deep moments in amongst the light and fluffy stuff.

Going old school watching Casablanca.

An ageless, timeless, close to flawless classic for a very good reason.

Watched this oldie last night as its a few years since I've seen it.

Trainspotting_ver2.jpg

Talking about it at work, one of the youngsters (27) asked if it was actually about trainspotters!
Kids!

And it had a fantastic soundtrack, if I recall rightly.

It was. But I like a lot of 90's music. Probably my age.

I do too, and age has nothing (or little) to do with it, as I also like some stuff from the 80s, 70s, 60s, 50s, and going back to the Jazz Age, classical music, Baroque music, Renaissance music.......trad, folk, and er, so on....

But Transpotting had a brilliant soundtrack: I have the CD somewhere, and used to listen to it a lot.

I saw 2 movies the other nite on VUDU:

Love and other drugs - sexy, romantic, comedy flick. i got a thing for Anne Hathaway plus she's naked in this movie (yes!)

The Lovely bones - this has to be one of the saddest movie around, i like the storytelling aspect of the movie, the ending is horrible and underwhelming (the way the villian dies is lame)
