Kelly's Heroes (1970)- WWII spoof about a bank heist behind enemy lines. A favorite! :) Filmed in Yugoslavia and the UK.

One of my favourite WWII Movies. Donald Sunderland is freaking hilarious in this movie.

[doublepost=1496083768][/doublepost]Right now - Blade Runner (1982) Final Cut version (edited 2007). Recently watched a good few;
  • Altered States (1980) - Good, little out there, lot better than many would think, more I view. more I like it
  • Demon Seed (1977) - Not so good, remains to be watchable, years maybe not so kind
  • Colossus The Forbin Project (1970) Good, has aged beautiful well worth a watch & recommended
  • Futureworld (1977), loosely a sequel to Westworld (1973) - Westwards is by far the better
  • The Machine (2013) Ok for indie Scifi, like it, however you do have to suspend your disbelief
  • The Spy in Black (1939) A classic with a pretty loaded message, being par for the period
  • Bathory Countess of Blood (2008) - Pretty much a dramatised page from history, looking more to dispel the mythos

Where Eagles Dare (1969)- Turner Classic Movies (TCM) is on a roll today. Clint Eastwood, Richard Burton. The music is seared into my brain. :)

Last movie I saw was Alien: Covenant

What a steaming pile of crap.

Crap. (Not disagreeing with you) In the spectrum of Alien Universe movies, 3 have met my approval, so I know based on odds there could be a 50-50 chance this is crap. Can you describe the flaws of Alien: Covenant without spoiling it?

A quick check at Rotten Tomatoes reveals a low 61% audience like rating. This means I'll be streaming it.

RT Reviews
In tone it's like the original film, but even darker, with a much greater emphasis on despair and hopelessness. It depicts acts of kindness and compassion as weakness. People die precisely because they care for other people and try to help them.
----------
Yet again a crew sniffs after a mysterious ping and sticks their nose in a deadly larva pod. Are our astronauts learning? God no. And if the audience expected a different plot, we're not learning, either.
----------
The great ideas being kicked around in "Prometheus" are nowhere to be found in Ridley Scott's disappointing follow-up.

I liked it - up to a certain point (can't really say unless you want spoilers)...

Really, really hard to beat Alien and Aliens...

(Prometheus was okay at most)

I thought Prometheus was the worst movie ever, just to give you a baseline.

Covenant could have been great. The worst part about it was the characters and the decisions they make. They allowed no time to develop any characters at all. And they all make pretty terrible choices. In Alien, poor choices were made but they were discussed and developed ( like letting Kaine into the ship without going through quarantine). They just leap from poor choice to poor choice without a thought. Compared to Alien it's complete trash. Compared to the other trash we get these days it's a sold C+. I can't get much more specific with out giving plot points away.

I thought Aliens was not great. Alien 3 was really really good (directors cut) and Alien was the perfect movie.

I loved the first, still liked the second. How do you follow-up a hit with something better. I found that most of the elements that made the first work still worked in the second.

@Huntn I'm trying to remember this old 1980s flick that was an action comedy. In one scene the guy or one of the supporting actors pulls out a revolver with a very long barrel and says it's only legal in two states or something along those lines.

That does not ring a bell with me. Sorry for the delayed response, just saw this.

John candy said that. He was an armoires car driver. I think tom hanks, meg rysn, and Eugene levy were in it.

Look up "armed and dangerous" and tell me if that's it.

Yep, that's the one! Google Images brings up a snap of Candy with the gun. I kept thinking it was a Dan Akroyd movie.

Thanks guys, I'm streaming this.

@ibookg409, I admit Prometheus was a different movie from the first two Aliens, but it was beautifully filmed, with outstanding atmosphere, and I found it intriguing with some interesting concepts about the origin of life on Earth and Engineers that's tied directly into the original movies. One reviewer was really dissapointed that this movie, in no way built on these concepts from Prometheus.

It's a direct sequel with reference to Prometheus. Prometheus did look good with had so many plot holes you could sell it as a new Swiss cheese.

One of my all time favourite movies. Saw it in the theatre when it came out, oh so many years ago. Still a great flick. It has held up really well!

The Dirty Dozen (1967)- Mostly all star ensemble cast. I really like John Cassavettes, Charles Bronson, and Lee Marvin. Telly Savalis creeped me out. Filmed in the beautiful U.K. :)

A lot of horror movies seem to rely on the audience yelling at the character (who is oblivious to them) Don't do it!!! ;)

...of course in the original Alien, the android opened the door letting in the infected crew member on purpose, and in Dallas's defense going into the ducts, the last time they saw it (if I remember it correctly) it was little, but still it was little, fast, and dangerous, but then it was not that little. :D
