Spoilers What Movie Are You Watching?

My family watched The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies yesterday. We all liked it.

Not starting anything, but I'm curious if you read the book? :) I don't doubt that Jackson put together a good story, (I've not watched this installment) but besides the extremely bloated nature of the 3 movies, especially this battle which was one chapter if I recall correctly. I really disliked how artificial high points were added in the movies along with over the top visual sequences, like the fight after they escaped the goblins, and sequence escaping from the woodland fairies.

There is one scene I really really liked which is when Gladriel faces off against Sauron, nothing to do with fancying Cate Blanchett. :) Oh and read the book many many moons ago.

I read the book and watched the movies. There were characters and plot-lines which were introduced in the movies. It really should have been a single 3-hr movie IMHO.

My family and I went to see the new Pirates of the Caribbean this past weekend. It was okay. I guess for me the series seems kinda played out. The character of Jack Sparrow just isn't new or refreshing like he used to be after so many sequels. I did like that the story wrapped up some unfinished business from previous movies. All in all I'd give it a 5 or 6 out of 10. I guess they aren't slowing down though as there is an end credits scene that would appear to foreshadow yet another sequel is on the horizon.

A Cure For Wellness (2016) Went in with no expectations; slowly paced, yet maintains the connection by building intrigue, little dystopian. Most certainly doesn't follow the typical Hollywood recipe. Beautifully shot, lengthy at over two and a half hours, not one for the action or thrill seekers, more a classic horror tale with a strong emphasis on drama. Overall I enjoyed the watch and will likely revisit sooner or later.

Second viewing, gets better, all the nuances, and in a few instants disturbing, a keeper...

I guess until the franchise stops making money. I was done with the series after the second one. But I could always stream it. :)

What is this about?
It's based off of the Graham Greene novel. Which I haven't read in donkey's years. I didn't even get a chance to begin it last night or this morning. Let's just say I was taking too much space on the DVR and I needed to watch other things lest I wanted to wait until Netflix cleared the current season.

Enjoyed Wonder Woman in theaters last night. Definitely worth a watch.

(I didn't like the romantic twist they gave it though)
I listened to a review on Public Radio that was half positive complementing the lead actress, but the other half critiqued the CGI, the chopped up, slow motion, exaggerated hit, fight sequences. If you are an Americans fan (FX), the reviewer said it was more satisfying to watch Paige and her mother spar in their garage. :)

Life (2017) Solid SciFi thriller, with a splash of horror. well worth a watch if your into the genre. Similar to Gravity (2013) & The Europa Report (2013) story is portrayed in a contemporary and realistic manner, versus the fantastical.

Predestination
A weird film and not as good as the 7.5/10 it gets online

A strange time travelling paradox that leaves you with more questions than answers. Very strange decision making!
