Colossal, terrible movie; Maybe I missed something but I felt like it had zero character development, a weird plot, bad CGI and overall boring.

Maybe if you take off the monsters thing, it might feel like a tolerable drama.

kinda got dark there near the end. i liked it though.

Been revisiting Alien: Covenant, the film is growing on me as a standalone, remains to be beautifully shot. I still don't care for the demytefying of the Alien, guess I just compartmentalise the films 1 -3, then 4 being almost a comedy, Prometheus & Covenant are inexorably intertwined, with the former being the deeper more interesting arc.

I do feel Scott crumpled, Alien survival horror, better to go back to the grass roots and come up with a solid film based on Alien Isolation. Alien Covenant as has been discussed certainly doesn't build fear or tension to any real extent. Thinking of the original masterpiece or Alien 3 next, after Covenant as the film tries to cover both the first and second films extensively, yet fall to pull off each's individual success.

Maybe Alien 3, I know it has it's faults, equally the reconstructed version interests, could have been so much more had Fox Exec's not been such idiots...

Just finished rewatching The Matix (one of my favorite all time movies) and Matrix Reloaded (not as much). Will finish with Matrix Revolutions - the Mech vs squiddies battle is pretty epic.

I _just_ rewatched the first movie too, it popped up on Netflix (figuring that's where you saw it too), and while I have it on other sources, I was like, yeah, I can toss this on in the background :)

Still a fantastic, seminal film that established so many techniques for future movies - and it holds up really well too (from a technical perspective). The other movies have incredible moments mixed up with convoluted, drawn out meta-physical babbling, but I generally enjoy them for what they are. I always say, I feel like there's a really effective, 2-2.5 hour one movie sequel hidden in Reloaded and Revolutions.

I actually own all three Matrix movies (+ AniMatrix) on DVD (how quaint!). My kids have seen the recent future dystopian movies movies (Allegiant, Hunger Games, etc.) and I wanted them to see how it really should be done. The special events and CGI have stood the test of time, and although it does get complicated, I love the complexity and thought provoking plot so rare in typical Hollywood action popcorn movies.

It's strange.... I find myself watching this behind-the-scenes documentary over and over. I think its the cinematography, the score, the "characters", the settings.

And every time I watch it, I wish that someone would have made something like it about Steve Jobs (ie "in his own words"), instead of the endless cash-ins.

CATFIGHT... oh my goodness, this was a dark, riotous story of relationships and revenge. Sandra Oh was incredible.
It's on netflix if you're into weird stuff.

Just watched "The Girl With All The Gifts". Good zombie movie that followed the book it was based on very closely. Not a very scary movie, but one that thrilled all the same. I enjoyed this British offering a lot.

I consider the three movies in order, 1) best, 2) good, 3) have to watch to see the end. ;)

I would agree with that. Just finished Revolutions to complete the trilogy. Might watch Animatrix again - seen it several times. A must watch for serious Matrix fans but probably overkill for the more casual viewer.

This is on my "to watch" list. I also enjoy watching "behind the scenes" features and am a huge Miyazaki fan. Looking forward to this.

Ghost in the Shell (2017)- The shell is empty and it makes me sad. Comment about movie. I knew there was a reason I streamed this. From a story with potential, weak narrative, unsatisfying climax. Scarlet looks best as a blond. Nipples removed for a PG13 rating. ;)

Another rom-com from this pair, along with Sandler's usual gang. It was what I expected, although some of the pratfalls for Barrymore seemed forced, and my wife and I kept wondering where Rob Schneider was. It had some over the top ridiculous moments, particularly with Terry Crews. I asked my wife how they talked him into it, and she reminded me he's been the president (Idiocracy). We don't think he took to much convincing.

Overall, I enjoyed it, being smack in the middle of the target audience.

I liked it quite a bit - this coming from a huge fan of the original anime that I own on multiple formats along with several of the later DV sequels, the soundtrack by Kenji Kawai - and someone who just generally loves cyberpunk type material (Neuromancer, Snow Crash, other anime in the genre like Battle Angel, etc)
