Finally saw The Grand Budapest Hotel ...
Moonrise Kingdom.
...
Watched this on a flight a few weeks ago. Didn't really get quite a bit of it either.Watched "Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them" over the weekend. Not to bad. Had some nice nods to the franchise. The only thing we didn't get, was how the bad guy was. I am assuming you had to read the books to find out why he is bad, but this was never really explained in the movie. If it was, we missed it completely.

By the time the Pontius Pilate scene is done I am literally — literally — exhausted and aching from laughing so much. Every. Time.A classic I never tire of: A movie with a terrific story, superb - and timeless script - savage and brilliant satire, hilarious, witty, intelligent, insightful, very, very funny - visually as well as verbally - and just as relevant today as when it was made.
Monty Python's The Life of Brian.
There is not a bad line in the movie. That is an example of outstanding movie making.
By the time the Potius Pilate scene is doen I am literally — literally — exhausted and aching from laughing so much. Evry. Time.
Fabulous movie for a rainy Sunday.
"He has a wife, you know. You know what she's called? She's called... Incontinentia… Incontinentia Buttocks!"
I watched it many years ago and I hated it.The Life of Brian is so good, and so funny, and so relevant, and intelligent, and so savagely insightful, that I am helpless with laughter every time I watch it (which is every few years); actually, I see fresh jokes - and grace notes, which are hysterically funny - in it each and every time - and the classic jokes, well, they are timeless classics for a reason. (What did the Romans ever do for us?....)
Actually, I have sections of the dialogue off by heart......
I watched it many years ago and I hated it.
All I remember is "I was blind and now I can see" which was particularly dumb.Snigger.
Thanks for sharing that (totally unnecessary) piece of information. I suppose that I could say that I "hate" many, of not most, American movies......
Anyway, as it happens, Life of Brian is one of my top five all time favourites.
Moreover, I am incredibly intolerant, choosy, fussy, and demanding when it comes to movies: I don't like the art form, and therefore, if I must watch a movie, I insist that it - at the very least - be excellent.
Anyway, I suppose all that your post tells me is that our tastes are so fundamentally incompatible (this comes back to the topic of reading - and being influenced by reviews, a matter discussed on another thread) that if you recommend a movie, I will probably know enough to give it a very wide berth.
But, different tastes, and different folks, and so on. Each to their own. But, I loved it. Madly, Passionately. And - given that normally I can't stand movies - almost insanely.
