I loved all of the books, and movies! :)
I liked how this story started as a child’s narrative, it felt simplistic, (although that may be too harsh a word) and the wizarding world seemed like mostly a happy place, but as it progressed, got more complex and dark. I realize this was because the target audience vested in the books, besides the adults, were growing up. ;)

Well, as J K Rowling herself remarked when told that some commentators think that the first book is light, pleasant and perhaps 'simplistic' in tone - "it opens with a double murder - what is light about that?"

But, yes, I think that the books because more layered, more complex, more nuanced as the series progressed, allowing the reader to see the wizarding world as an amazing - but extraordinarily flawed - place; actually, I think that J K Rowling's world building (let alone her character development and capacity to sustain an impressive plot) was wonderfully impressive.

You're right. I should reread the books since I have them on my iPad.

Seriously, you should. They are excellent.

And - unlike a lot of fantasy - the final book, Deathly Hallowes - is brilliant and brings the series home in style.

Today’s films;

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.

It’s a Wonderful Life.

Eight Days a Week.

Die Hard.

The Revenant (2015)

Awesome movie, crappy lead actor who can't act to save his life. You would think that with a $100 million budget, they'd be able to find a better actor .

I think DiCaprio is an excellent actor? A great film and great acting. Have to disagree with you there.

Thank you for being civil while disagreeing :)

Yes, I personally think that LDC has no depth and is just not believable. I don't care how many "awards" have been bestowed upon him by people who think they're the authority on movies and acting. I just can't take anything he says/does seriously.

Whilst I disagree with you I do think the main thing against him is that he looks so young! He still looks like a boy!

Yes ! That's a huge reason why he is not at all a fit for The Revenant, who is a barbaric character. Someone more masculine and rough n tumble would have been better. A younger version of Liam Neeson or Russel Crowe. Maybe even Christian Bale.

15 yr old boy trekking through the brutal snow of Argentina (where most of the film was shot) ??? Not believable to me :)

Took the kids to see jumanji. They loved it. It was well done, good enough story and very funny. I’ll put the inappropriate part in a spoiler since parents might want to know about it but it was pretty funny so I don’t want to spoil it for anyone else.

the set up of the film, in case you don’t know, is that teenagers are sucked into a video game and become the characters they picked. One girl becomes a man, and doesn’t know how to pee. So there is a scene where they teach her what to do and she loves it. Later, she, still as a man, falls
For another character and gets a boner. The characters comment on this in case it wasn’t obvious.

I amended that to speak for me...

I have become a fan LDC in the last few years... ;)

Watched Casino Royale last night with Daniel Craig.
Then after that (around 1am) came across the 60's version which has a sublime soundtrack!
nice.

who was the "Bond" in that one?

Technically Peter Sellars!
But if you've not seen it I recommend a watch.

Was it some sort of comedy?
