Just watched "Bright" on Netflix. I really enjoyed it. It's a pretty typical decent Will Smith movie. Lots of action and intrigue. The movie was really reminiscent of "Alien Nation" but without aliens and using fantasy characters instead. Definitely worth the time to watch.

I enjoyed it and thought the same things about Alien Nation.

Similar but different enough.

Sin City (2005) : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0401792/

Apart from the story line i'm still trying to know what its really about, its still entertaining. The Black/write and color where it's needed is basically *why* i watch it :)
I disliked Sin City because of the styilized CGI which has always turned me off. There may be exceptions, but usually I want CGI which is indistinguishable from reality, where the only reason i know something is not real is my knowledge, not my eyes. :)

I liked The Crow, but there too the CGI was a hinderance to my enjoyment.

Agree. I've never watched all of sin city for that very reason.

A good film that has a few (mostly predictable) twists and turns.

Worth watching though. I've yet to see something I didn't like Irdis Elba in.
Watched that two months ago. It's also called Bastille Day. Solid film. There were a few familiar faces from other European produced films. Great cast all around. I'd kill for a mint 500SEC.

Been watching some ol Eddie Murphy movies ...
Trading Places(1983)

Coming to America(1988)

Great nostalgia.

Cheers
Check out Life Sucks.

Darkest Hour was good not great. The makeup on Gary Oldman is incredible and his performance is great, but Daniel Day-Lewis is better in the strange but effective Phantom Thread.

But DDL would build a time machine to go back to London during WWII.

I really enjoyed Sin City for all of the reasons you guys didn't!

he he he.
Same here. I enjoyed it for the artistry of the cinematography. C'mon! It was based on the works of Frank Miller, a comic artist without equal. It was like watching a comic book for me. So well done!
[doublepost=1519610846][/doublepost]Also went with the family to see Black Panther today. Awesome flick! Marvel knocked it out of the park again.

I wonder if Skyscraper is going to be as good as Tower Inferno. Willis' upcoming film revival has me nervous, too.

I liked Trading places, but I've not seen it in years. Coming to America not so much.

I'm enjoying the humor of that era (80s), and looking forward to seeing(or re-seeing) some more. Next up will probably be Ghostbusters (the original/real one).

Watched For the Love of Spock. Was a good movie about Leonard Nimoy, but a tad too long.

Annihilation..

I finally figured out the meaning of the movie, and in hindsight I really like it. Recommended!

Usually I feel the same way as you in regards to CGI, but in the case of Sin City I actually liked the style the film was made in. Obviously I also like Frank Miller's style in the comics, and was actually pleasantly surprised that the film was as faithfully adapted as it was. Meaning the comics basically were the script for the film. Granted, I haven't read all of them, but the ones I have were put on film quite nicely.

As for what I'm watching right now, the Scarlett Johansson -film Lucy seems to be on television. The "we only use whatever % of our brain power" -trope is already a bit tiring, but the film seems to entertain thus far. Let's see where it goes.

EDIT: It came, and it went. 90 minutes of fluff, at times even entertaining. Not a film I'll be revisiting any time soon. But this did remind me to rewatch another Besson film, one that I've neglected for far too long, namely Léon.
