Jared Leto is hit or miss for me, usually it's miss. I'll give that movie a chance, though.

Edit: Just watched the trailer. Looks fantastic. Hopefully the movie lives up to the trailer.

Harrelson is _often_ great!

Seven Psychopaths
Zombieland
No Country for Old Men
Natural Born Killers
The People vs. Larry Flynt
The Messenger
[...]

Heck, even very mediocre films he's generally good, I mean, there's some material that's just not good, but he's usually not the weak link.
You forgot Kingpin? How dare you!

Out of the Furnace was pretty good too.
[doublepost=1521119397][/doublepost]Ps - pls forgive the shameless name dropping but I’ve met him twice and he was charming, personable, and friendly. Both times he was a happy jokester and down to earth. This was a couple years before he was arrested protesting on the GGB.

Re: Jared Leto, for me, my favorite movie that he is in is Requiem For A Dream. I love that movie. So dark and depressing, not your average happy ending movie that Hollywood likes to put out.

He was also good in Dallas Buyers Club. I saw to little of his interpretation of The Joker in Suicide Squad to really have an opinion on it. The movie Suicide Squad was horrible.

Oh wow, yeah, that's a pretty big omission, my apologies :D

"Who's done more research on the subject than the good people at the American Tobacco Industry? They say it's harmless. Why would they lie? If you're dead, you can't smoke."

I liked his take, he was really backed into a corner where he couldn't be Jack, Heath, Cesar, even having the shadow of Mark Hamill's incredible voice work from the animation version.

There's also a _crazy_ theory circulating about his portrayal / The Joker of Suicide Squad ...

Are you referring to the Jason Todd theory? If so, I agree it is pretty crazy and here is hoping with SS2 or if there is a Batman movie they actually go into this.

Shhh ... yes.

:D

:D

It is actually a brilliant theory in my book and if they ever bring it around and put it to film I think we might see something that rivals the other Joker performances. I would freaking love to see them do a "Death in The Family" storyline in a live action movie. For me, I didn't get to see enough of him which is sad. There are rumors floating out there that there is a lot more material out there of his performance that was cut during the editing process.

Don't know if these really fit in with this thread but I had a chance to watch Zero Days (2016) yesterday and it was a pretty fascinating documentary about Stuxnet, definitely recommended if you're interested in state sponsored cyber warfare.

Also watched Stephen Hawking's A Personal Journey today. I can't say it's the most engaging documentary but it was informative at least. I guess Curiosity Stream made Stephen Hawking's Favorite Places (Series 2016-2018) free to watch in light of the recent news, so I may check out an episode or two of that tomorrow, not to get off topic.

I hadn't heard anything about it, but put it on my watch list anyway. It had action and comedy, but just wasn't very good.

Mission Impossible Rogue Nation (2015). Not bad, but the villain was meh...much prefer Ghost Protocol (that remains my favorite of the series.)
My favorite MI was the first one. That was before the series lost it’s mind with over the top action sequences. :)

I liked the first one a lot too (and that was the only one I saw theatrically. Wanted to see Ghost Protocol but no :(). Perhaps hiring John Woo as the director for MI:II inspired all the O.T.T. action? His Hong Kong movies were known for ridiculous but fun action (I am not into the whole gun fu thing), but Woo made some great movies.

We watched the "Justice League: Flashpoint Paradox" animated movie last night. It was a really good addition to the DC animated universe. The voice acting, by some truly big named artists, was great! Good story that was true to the comics version. Well worth a watch if you're a comics or animated movies buff.

I finally saw Call Me By Your Name. I loved it. I understand some of the criticisms (the setting and the characters are polished to a degree that borders on perfection, and we don't get much in the way of Elio and Oliver engaging in the deep conversation that lovers might have), but it was a beautiful movie and I intend to see it again some time :)

Just got done watching Cool Runnings. Couldn't sleep and saw it was available on 'Flix. Damn, I really miss John Candy. :(

Saw ladybird yesterday. Very funny movie.
Is it? I thought it was a drama. Usually when a movie is a comedy drama (or dramedy if you want to get fancy with a portmanteau), it's more drama and very subjective humor.

Yeah, I thought it was going to be a drama and it did have dramatic moments. Maybe I should clear it up a little: it wasn’t non stop funny but when it was, it was very funny.

Watched Rush yesterday. A great movie if you like car racing. If not, then probably not for you.

Well this is interesting! Just this morning I watched a film called "Rush" as well! Haven't seen the film you're talking about yet, but as I do like cars and racing I'll have to check it out.

The "Rush" I watched was the one from the early nineties starring Jason Patric and Jennifer Jason Leigh about undercover cops and the drug world. A really good, and at times pretty gritty look at undercover work with great performances by everyone involved.

Doesn't hurt that at the end of the film there's probably one of the best songs ever playing, namely Bridge of Sighs by Robin Trower (of Procol Harum -fame). If I ever get to own a (strip) club there will be two songs playing there on repeat and nothing else; Bridge of Sighs and The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove by Dead Can Dance. But I digress, watch Rush everyone!
