I agree with this review. The Star Wars franchise is in deep do do. The problem today is that at it’s best you have to rely on an old story like Rogue Squardon, which I liked a lot, but is still reliving the good ole past, although it actually recreates a good new chapter for an old event.

Solo is mostly forgettable and fails to deliver. It felt more like a commercialized product without a soul, made to make money on franchises fans, is if you make it, no matter how lacking it is, they will pay to see it. And the modern franchise is so dicked up, such an insult to the original trilogy, those days maybe on shakey ground. Unless the reviews are fantastic, I’ll be streaming Episode 9 (2019).

What this allows me to say about George Lucas, he may have lost it, but when he was in the grove, no one could or can tell a better Star Wars story than he could. JJ Abrams maybe able to tout his Star Wars gross figures, but I credit him for BLOWING IT. All the resources in the world can’t make up for the lack of vision and cold hearted monetization of the franchise. At least I can still enjoy, and they can’t screw up the original trilogy which is still a breath of fresh air as compared mostly to what has followed it.
The problem with SW is people wanted t see the OT characters develop. What happed was one got killed, one turned into a Sith hermit and got killed and the other turned into Mary Popins!

Besides character development, I wanted to see something new and original, not a frick’n rehash of the original story. What the hell happened to the Episode 6 happy ending? It shows just how lacking the director and writers were, their inability, FAILURE to carry the franchise forward into new territory. It really makes me sad as far as my movie emotions go.

Watched Star Trek last night. Good for a pizza & movie evening in.

I watched: The ballad of buster scruggs on netflix. It was supposed to be an tv show, instead in was released as a movie. Its a series of stories by the Cohen brothers so its an easy movie to watch at home if you need to start and stop it. I liked most of it except for the last story. If anyone else saw it, please post a spoiler guarded post about that last story I'm curious if anyone liked it.

I loved every bit of it.

Especially the last story.

So maybe I didn't really get it. I'll put the rest in a spoiler:

So, I guess the bounty hunter spooked the other riders with his story. And they were afriad to go into the hotel. But I'm not really sure why they were so scared. I watched it twice because I thought I missed something but I still didn't really follow it. He told the story about how everyone thinks they are safe and he was coming for someone else. Was that it?

I've been meaning to watch that Spanglish comedy with Will Farrell on Netflix, Casa de mi Padre for a little over three months now. Backlogged with a lot of shows and movies I need to watch before that.

I'll probably watch the Ballad of Buster Scruggs, too. Seems interesting, and Coen movies are usually A+.

they, the 3 passengers, were already dead. the bounty hunters and the coachman who wouldn't stop were the grim reapers.the hotel was the afterlife.

And I forgot that was the last one. I didn't care for that one too much either. The one about the wagon train was my favorite.

meh. Not horrible but not that good either. Not too unlike The Big Lebowski but not as funny or as endearing.

This one in just a little bit.

And pretty damn good. Grim as hell but very good. Supposedly a true story.

I didn’t really like casa de mi padre but it’s possible I just “didn’t get it”. Curious if you like it because nobody I know saw it.

Episode 1 & Episode 2
Ugh. What’s worse, the acting or the script?

I'm sorry, but these two are masterpieces compared to the worst movie ever... the Last Jedi... Okay at least the script in these two makes sense.

Watched "Crazy Rich Asians" with my wife and daughter. I really enjoyed it. It was funny, dramatic and romantic. It had many of my favourite Asian actors in it and it was very well shot and written. Can't wait to see what the sequel brings.

Jeremiah Johnson (1972) - still love this one.

I attempted to revisit Lucio Fulci’s somewhat silly Flashdance era giallo Murderrock, but real life said not tonight you’re not. In the snippets I did watch, I finally realized he was trying to emulate some imagery from my favorite of his movies, A Lizard in a Woman’s Skin.

Will certainly revisit at some point. I am ordering all these Italian horrors and then they just pile up.

It’s kind of like if you list the plot points, they add up, but the telling of the story was uninspired, and the acting in several examples was blah. I am most disgusted by the lame portrayal of Anakin Skywalker being a pawn of the emperor, and completely turning against his Jedis, and murdering Little Jedis in the Academy. Can The Force lead to mental instability? ;)

As portrayed, it did not strike me as believable, and why the hell Obi-wan, did not finish off Anakin after kicking his butt? (rhetorical question) It might have saved the Rebellion and the Jedis a lot of grief, but then we would have been deprived of a great villain. :)

As I recently said, Lucas gets credit for the idea and creating three jems, and those who followed with supposedly all the money in the world and creative talent, instead, had not one solid idea how to carry this franchise forward, and instead opted to cash in on BS recycled story elements because no one had a clue where to take this franchise. As someone said in this forum a while back, the worst thing is they basically deprived us of Episode 6’s happy ending for $$.

I seem to always be up for a Star Wars rant. It’s all your fault, you triggered me. :p

Between Terminator (1984) and True Lies (1994), Schwarzenegger certainly found his action groove showing the confidence of a major star. With the help of James Cameron, his single most polished role was True lies, imho. :)

True Lies is a great movie, too. I really enjoyed it and I should watch it again as I haven't seen it in a long time. One of my favorite lines is when Jamie Lee Curtis asks him, while under the influence of truth serum, if he had ever killed anyone. He replied, "Yes, but they were all bad." :D And with Arnold's accent, it's just hilarious to me.

I loved the humor and the entire movie was correagraphed in a highly appealing action manner, including Jamie Lee Curtis’s dance. :D.

Cameron’s attention to detail in that movie is evident, in some case small things that add to immersion, like when Arnold’s horse refuses to jump off the roof, and his double falls. You can see him drop his gun and watch it tumbling down. You might think he was actually hanging off the top of a high rise. And when Arnold dives into the water to avoid a rocket and you can see the flames billowing above him. And that break the tile, bathroom fight scene! I watched that movie over and over, and might have to watch it again. :)

True Lies is a great film. Underrated imo.

Better than my expectations. I didn’t think they’ll be able to pull this one off having had really poor experience with all the other versions post the original Arnold one.

The last movie that I have seen on the big screen is Ralph Breaks the Internet and Fantastic Beast: The Crimes of Grindelwald(this is my least favorite among the J.K Rowling's movie adaptations.
