Yesterday, Sunday, we went to see
"The Favourite".
I can't praise it highly enough.
Actors who manage to convey these grotesque characters without cartoonish caricature. Behind the ghastly wigs and face paint (and that's just the men!) there are real humans who plot and love and suffer…
Sure, the film plays loose and fast with history — but not in a way that had me tearing out my hair as I often do with many of the current "historical" films/series.
This requires suspension of disbelief. And I for one was happy to just willingly go along and join in.
The soundtrack is smashing. A great use of Baroque/19th Century/20th…
Go and see it if it shows near you. It is
brilliant.
