I watched Isle Of Dogs tonight, what a strange film... fascinating animation, but a strange format for sure. Still was an, erm, interesting watch.

I’ll have to catch ‘A Quiet Place’ next.

Whilst Skyfall is stunning, for me I like the more out there Bond films, Moonraker, Die Another Day, Tomorrow Never Dies.. like the gadgets and mad evil person wants to take over the world thing. Seen all of them too.

Watched Polar and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri tonight.

Polar was great. Mads Mikkelsen was really good as the lead, and overall the film was just a fun two hours of entertainment.

Billboards, though, was an entirely different beast. A great, great film that at one point made me laugh, and the next minute I was sitting there with my eyes watering. Superb work by everyone involved.

Will watch Glass (2019.) tonight.

I'm going to see that with a friend tomorrow for his birthday. Today I re-watched Unbreakable and had a first viewing of Split. I'm really looking forward to seeing this!

The Larsson reboot film with Claire Foy was dreadful compared to the 2011 film. I can't believe I wasted 2 hours on that.

I can already imagine Mefisto's response. "I could have you the time and money!"

This "Mefisto" guy sounds like someone who gives sound advice.

Thanks for the reminder, I need to watch the original trilogy again. While Fincher's vision was pretty, at times even very good (the score by Reznor and Ross is superb), the ones with Noomi Rapace as Lisbeth are still my favorites.

I liked:
The claustrophobia, the clunkiness of the high tech that goes awry the feeling it is held together by duct tape. The danger. The launches were spectacular. Visually a winner.

Could have done without?
Pretty much all the rest. Weak, over long and good grief, schmaltz ladled on.

Ryan Gosling. I could not get over that I was watching Ryan Gosling playing Neil Armstrong. I just could not get him as a believable character.
It's probably because he went through the whole film with just one pained rather vacuous expression. Reminded me a bit of George W…

I remember when it was released last year the hooha about the US flag not appearing. What where people on about? It is on their suits, on the rockets, on lapels, in front of people's houses.

Anyway.

Ryan Goosebaby had said that they didn't linger on him placing the American Flag on the moon because they wanted to show that it was a world wide accomplishment and not just an American one. People then said that no shot of the flag on the moon appeared in the movie, which I think was false, and went all nutso on him. VP Pence said something too.

I loved this movie, probably because I am a space fanatic and could "re-live" on the big screen the moments I've read so much about. I watched it twice at the theatres.
During the Apollo I scene I had tears in my eyes knowing - from what the astronauts were saying, which is virtually identical to the haunting recording - what was going to happen.
During the Saturn V (of which I AM a true fanatic, I see one at least twice a year either here in TX or at the amazing center in Huntsville, AL) launch I had a total, prolonged nerdgasm.

However you forgot one thing: the soundtrack. It is truly amazing; it even featured the theremin.

Which was a dumb statement - but I'd say: who cares about what he said?

People then said that no shot of the flag on the moon appeared in the movie, which I think was false, and went all nutso on him. VP Pence said something too.

People were outraged - in my opinion erroneously - that the planting of the flag wasn't in the movie. Then it became a bigger thing than it should've ever been.

Even the original Casino Royale?

David Niven, Peter Sellers, Peter O' Toole, Woody Allen... and more! What a cast!

We watched "Polar" on Netflix. It's an adaption of a graphic novel and it was actually pretty good. Very violent with some nudity and sex, but a well adapted and written story. Kinda reminded me of John Wick in places but didn't have nearly the same body count. Mads Mikkelsen is a favourite actor of ours and he turned in a good role! This is not great cinema, but it is a good way to spend an evening if you like assassin movies!

Saw ‘Girl in the Spiders Web’. not a bad film, enjoyable, but a bit hard to understand sometimes what they were saying with their accents, my deaf ears too haha. Incredibly surprising to see our beloved Brit comedy writer and actor in it! Stephen Merchant from The Office, I saw him do a stand up show on telly once and it was very funny!

A dark undertone to the story but it did remind me a lot of ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’, which overall is a better film really. It also reminded me of the game Watchdogs a lot!
