I love that one too, and haven't thought about it for years. It was so well done, and likely because it was a passion project for Murray. Denholm Elliott was my favorite of that generation of British actors. Time to watch it again. Thanks for posting it.
I'm reading the novel as well... again.

Any recommendations on Action Thriller Modern films ? I dont want to watch a Vintage Movie. Looking to watch something which was made after 2010.
Easy, Mad Max: Fury Road, this is several notches above what you might expect. :)

Underwater(2020)
Ugh... not good.

Completely agree. I started watching it but couldn’t finish it.
That’s unfortunate, I thought the concept of the movie looks really good and the trailers were awesome. But if it’s ‘bad’ enough where it has to be turned off or you couldn’t finish it, that must really say something about the flow/messy plot. I do like Kristen Stewart as an actress, and I know this is one of her ‘come back‘ movies after her hiatus of acting.

I looked it up on RT, low audience review and:
The plot is 'The Abyss'-lite, the horror beats feel cadged from 'Alien' and the seafood-looking CG monsters appear to have been liberated from a bin outside Iceland.

Yikes ! It is so very Dark and Shady looking and uninteresting and Boring !!
You asked for an action thriller. It’s none of those things, especially not boring. Of course this is my opinion. Now if you dislike post apocalyptic stories, you might not care for it but the choreography of the action sequences is stellar.

Something Modern like a City, Urban Film, Not like a Movie shot in Dark Planet in Space. I will give you an example for e.g. The American Assassin or those likes.

I agree; was going to recommend it myself. It was a sensory feast. Start-to-finish action.

A doozie, this one. I only have an old DVD copy myself, but the not so great picture quality actually only, ehh, enhances the experience. One of only two films I've seen at the cinema more than twice. Thrice, to be exact.

Just finished watching Nicolas Winding Refn's The Neon Demon (2016). A film about an aspiring model and the world professional models live in. With a twist, obviously, as it's a Refn movie.

Visually stunning, soundtrack is great and the cast does a great job. A small, but standout performance is delivered by Keanu Reeves as an extremely sleazy motel owner. Good stuff all around.

Sorry, not really sure what you're asking so I'm just gonna wing it! If you mean where I watched it the Blu-ray is sitting in my shelf so my couch would be the answer :) Other than that I'm sure it's on some streaming services, but other than that I can't really help.

Watched The Shape of Water last night. Lovely film.

I’ll be honest, this movie strangely weirded ‘me out‘ in ways I’m sure you probably understand what I’m referring to. It has great plot and it keeps you tied in the entire movie when the ‘asset’ is taken from the research facility.

Sally Hawkins, (main protagonist) in the film, did a great job. I’m not familiar with her prior to this movie, but to portray a movie without words as a ‘mute’, she made it look so easy, when I think it’s probably that much more difficult When you're relying on body language to act without words.

Michael Shannon is a great actor and one of my favorites, but I didn’t care for him in this movie. I think that was partly due to the ‘writing style’ versus how he portrayed the character.

Dude, it’s not a dark planet, it’s bright and sunny Earth. :)

Yes but the characters in it are all Savage. Pre-Human existence kind of looking people. The Plot is Dark and Shady. Even the Locales, Shooting ambiance should appeal to be able to watch the entire movie.

Discussion about Mad Max: Fury Road.
I think I’ve figured out this is not your genre, an accurate conclusion? Just about every post apocalyptic story involves human conflict, violence, and there are some excellent stories, The Postman, The Book of Eli, some people like Water World, and Mad Max: Fury Road. Some people like The Road, but that was just too blah for me. :)

I understand if you don’t like violence, but have you watched this movie to know the plot is “dark and shady”? That’s not how I would characterize it, instead it’s about rebellion and escape from oppression, a basic human desire.

Mad Max:FR with Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy was awesome. I haven’t watch that movie in years, but it was a great film (Not just cuz’ it was an ‘action-post apocalyptic-film-, but a great storyline To boot) it was different spin on version of the 80s from Gibson. But was interesting about Mad Max, it was rumored Charlize and Hardy actually didn’t get along on set multiple times, but yet they meshed well with their characters On scene.

Also about Mad Max, you don’t have to watch the 80s version to see the film, it has its own storyline and character development for any viewers Unfamiliarized with the 80’s.

Violence is not a problem, But movies like Waterworld and Mad Max put me into depression. Maybe Book of Eli was still a notch better and watchable for me.

The Movies I am looking at again watching is like well, being not an American I like that story of U.S. Military going after Terrorists in Africa and the Middle East. CIA Operations. U.S. Marines getting into action, There is a Mission Control Room, where everyone is watching live action as it happens on the Big Screen, Other Techies in that Mission Control room zooming in their Drones on a secret terrorist hide-out and guiding step by step the U.S. Marines on Radio lol ! It is Fun ! ;) I like that kind of Fancy. Imaginative Story, keeps you engrossed and is good entertainment.

E.g. Jason Bourne, Taken, The American Assasin etc...
