Sat and watched Crawl tonight thanks to it being on sale via Apple TV in the UK

Im not sure what, but something caught my eye with it when came out and been waiting on a price drop
Its not a bad little film, small but well made, but Im not sure what it was, but I somehow felt like I had been expecting more, or maybe a different film to what I got

I enjoyed it however

The Caine Mutiny was an excellent book too describing an event where the environment, rules, perceptions, and personalities clash in the resulting event. And how later based on testimony how the event is received and interpreted in a military tribunal. Mutinies are very serious affairs usually looking down on the mutineers.

The end of that film...

Olivier Megaton: The Last Days of American Crime (2020)

Hoo boy, this was a stinker. For many reasons, the most glaring ones being the script, the cast and the length. There's no conceivable justification for this movie to be even two hours, let alone two and a half hours long. The central concept could have been interesting to explore in an otherwise well made movie, but this wasn't it. It's a shame, I quite like Edgar Ramirez in many of his other roles, but he couldn't save this one. Not groovy at all.

John Carpenter: The Fog (1980)

Much better. Not one of my favorites of Carpenter's, but still a fun and entertaining movie. I'd listen to Stevie Wayne's broadcasts all night long if that was possible. Groovy.

@Mefisto I love The Fog, especially when the ghostly zombie lepers finally make themselves known. Yes, I could listen to Stevie Wayne‘s radio purr for awhile too.

Back in the Shaw Brothers groove: Revisited The Delightful Forest, The Deadly Duo, The Proud Youth, and Five Elements Ninjas.

All fun -and in some moments- hilarious. Just what I need.

SB movies are like kaiju movies to me: very entertaining and a great way to escape from real life.

Just watched The Extraction, a very great movie.
I liked it as well. Couldn't hear half the dialogue though.

Margot Robbie is an awesome actress and is stunningly beautiful.

If you haven’t watched the film ‘Focus’ with her, [it’s with Will Smith], it Depicts the life of a con artist. The movie itself is decent, but she is very talented. I think her best performance and what really progressed her career was the ‘Wolf of Wall Street‘ with Leo DiCaprio.

On a side-note with female actresses:

I would rank her and Jessica Chastain as the best actresses in the film in history as of right now.

Devil's Advocate(1997)
Technically not great, but I found the story and plot compelling. Very "typical 90s" movie-making style. Keanu cannot seem to get any accent right :). Couldn't believe it was Furiosa(Charlize Theron)! I found most of the special effects very well controlled and used to great effect.

Natural Treasure: Book of Secrets (2007)- 67% RTAS. While I really enjoyed the original movie, this one was much harder to swallow and the Rotten Tomatoes audience score reveals this. Sneaking into the White House, kidnapping the President, and other things I won’t mention to avoid any more spoilers. Just put on your suspension of disbelief shoes before watching. Impressive set. :)

Just finished watching - The Invisible Man 2020.

It’s a pretty good thriller based on the general concept. As much as I liked the story telling it lacked a bit of depth at the beginning to set the plot. Otherwise a good evening watch.

Haven’t watched it yet. Do you remember ‘Hollow Man’ with Kevin bacon? [Release was in 2000] If you don’t, that’s OK, it was terrible.😁 That’s kind of what this movie makes me think of what the concept was like, but I kinda want to give this one a chance.

Oliver Jackson Cohen is in ‘Invisible man’, which he also played in ‘Faster’ with Dwayne Johnson that you were watching a week ago, so that alone, makes me want to check it out, as he is talented.

The reason it looks and feels a little like "Hollow Man" is because both of these films are adaptations of H.G. Wells' 1897 novel, "The Invisible Man."

When this film came out I actually looked up how many adaptations there have been since the release of the novel and it was something crazy like 25 (encompassing film, TV, and stage productions).

I’ve not seen the invisible man! :p

But makes me think of that age old question. Invisibility or ability to fly. Which would you choose?

I can appreciate your back-end research. 25? I guess originality was lost in translation a long time ago.😁

This one is much better than Hollow Man. Much, much better. It's certainly not a masterpiece that will be remembered for decades, but it's good enough for a nice evening of movie watching.

Thanks for the feedback. I’ll definitely give it a watch. I try not to pass judgment too much on movies I haven’t watched,
Unless the reviews are just abysmal.

The Vast of Night. It was recommended by a trusted NPR podcast or else I'd have never given it a shot.

I loved it. Perfect summer nighttime movie.
