Alfred Hitchcock’s “Strangers on a Train”. My first time seeing it.

For such an old movie (1951), I was impressed with its sophisticated writing. The baddie in this film is a true psychopath—a privileged, manipulative, completely immoral ***hole. You could drop him into any thriller movie today and he’d be just as believable.

Only two scenes haven’t aged well. One is the carousel scene near the end, which looks laughably bad. The other is where Bruno is trying to retrieve the lighter from the storm drain; his arm stretches so much it reminded me of Eugene Tooms. 😄

Edit: I went one page back and noticed Huntn just saw the same film.

Netflix original- sand castle.

It’s a pretty good war movie. I liked the characterisation and the story telling of the war scenarios. The ending was really good as well, 6 /10 for me. Although can be a bit disturbing for a lazy evening watch.

Just finished this one. I really liked it.

8/10 for me.

I‘ve seen it many times over the years

Good points! When my wife and I watched it this last time we both commented on what must Bruno be doing to his arm to squeeze/force it though a metal grate that far, is he Mr. Elastic? ;) I also questioned would a real carousel have the ability to throw it’s speed control lever as to go at such a speed, and then reverse it to have it basically come off it‘s bearings? It seems obvious a model was used, but I did not mind. :)

Exactly. Just as it’s obvious from the 1950s technology they had that it was a rear-screen projected image. Very soft and grainy.

It wasn't bad and it was 99 cents to rent it on ATV

I like some of his movies - Babylon A.D. - Pitch Black - The Chronicles of Riddick

Pitch Black is actually one of Vin Diesel better movies. The CGI Definitely shows its early ‘not-so-good’ stages in this movie, but the plot was good and overall boosted his career around the time he was filming the ‘Fast & Furious’ films. [Knockaround Guys was another really good film that I think was one of his better performances.]

Fun fact time:

‘Vin Diesel’ is actually not his legal name (It’s Mark Sinclair), that was the name given to him back when he was a bouncer at a nightclub before his movie career actually started.

Toy Story 2 (1999)- 86% RTAS, with an incredible 100% critic score. The tremendous second edition of the Toy Story franchise. Watching this on Disney+ with our 4k TV the fidelity of the image in incredible, along with an outstanding sound track. This movie almost made me cry telling Jessie’s back story, really. :)

I'm stoked to re-watch these in 4K, I didn't realize how much D+ was in 4K (including Marvel and SW titles), so when the main TV room [eventually] gets sorted out, I'm making a really good glass of bourbon and doing it up ... in 4K (and proper audio).

I bet not even any breaks for the bathroom, just sitting there, in your own filth, basking in the Lynchian glory ...

Tempting, but there were restroom breaks whenever a roadhouse song appeared on screen. I must improve and go for no breaks.

This is one of those one 80’s movies I have no idea where it fits in the ‘film genre‘, but it’s basically like ‘Rocky‘, except without the violence and with a lesser of a plot with an arm wrestling theme.😁

Definitely not the most sought after ‘Stallone movie‘, and I’m sure many probably haven’t even watched this unless you’re an avid fan. But hey, as long as you realize the 80’s was a very strange time frame in the movie industry and was in a weird transition Where it was trying to find it’s identity, then you’ll probably enjoy the film.😁
