This is one of those one 80’s movies I have no idea where it fits in the ‘film genre‘, but it’s basically like ‘Rocky‘, except without the violence and with a lesser of a plot with an arm wrestling theme.😁

Definitely not the most sought after ‘Stallone movie‘, and I’m sure many probably haven’t even watched this unless you’re an avid fan. But hey, as long as you realize the 80’s was a very strange time frame in the movie industry and was in a weird transition Where it was trying to find it’s identity, then you’ll probably enjoy the film.😁
I recall it not being his best work.

I don’t know how to pinpoint Stallone. He comes off as such a lethargic actor to me with his monotone voice, slurred speech and delayed reactions. I don’t believe he’s a bad actor, he’s just so ‘different’ in that sense, but yet he was wildly popular during the highlight of his career.

He was perfect for Rocky and Rambo. Struggling to think of another film where he looked like he was a good fit.

So, I actually went and looked up his theatrical library with all the movies he starred in as the main protagonist, Aside from what you mentioned, almost all his movies have terrible ratings. He’s kind of like Schwarzenegger, they both have been in movies that have been wildly popular and a lot of the others just completely failed.

but believe it or not, I think what’s carried Stallone’s career, isn’t so much he’s a ‘good actor’, if that he’s physically always been in very good shape, for movies like Rocky & Rambo. Just like Schwarzenegger being in the bodybuilding shape for Terminator and Predator.

2/10

This is one of the worst films I've ever seen.

It fails on every level.

No style, they tried, no panache, I think they tried ...

The acting... again I think they tried.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016)- 86% RTAS.
The story behind the Rebellion obtaining the Death Star plans. This is the finest, truest, highest fidelity, tough, sad, post-original Star Wars trilogy Movie. Yavin 4 the original rebel base is incredibly faithful in appearance and tone, and K2-SO became my favorite droid.

That really is a good film. One of the best in the SW canon, imho.

Richard Gere seems to be one of those ‘lost actors‘ that no one talks about anymore, but I really like him in this movie. The plot is awesome. Essentially, he’s having an affair, where he flees the scene of a car accident Where his mistresses killed in a car accident, but makes it seem as he has no involvement, leading up to an investigation.

Even though Richard Gere is supposed to be the ‘main star’ in this particular movie, he’s not. Tim Roth who plays the detective leading the investigation of the car crash and how it happened, is just brilliant in every way. Really, I think Tim Roth (He’s been in multiple Tarantino movies) performance was spot on of actually how a detective operates based on playing a lot of ‘mind games’ To achieve the answers needed to lead an investigation with interviewing techniques, follow ups, ect and he just nailed his role.

But back to the plot, it’s really a game of ‘covering your tracks’ so you’re not exposed. I find I don’t know anyone that’s aware of this film, but it’s very good if you give it a chance.

The Room (2019)- 48% RTAS.
A couple find a big old house to buy and live in, that has a room in it that will grant them anything they desire with a huge caveat.

Besides my fondness for Olga Kurylenko, was not satisfied with the ending which was overly complicated and ignored the obvious solution to fix the predicament they find themselves in. And I’m happy to discuss the obvious overlooked solution if anyone has seen this and cares to. ;)

Of note, this is supposed to be a house in Upstate New York, but a high shot of the trees shows these ball things (plants) that I have only noticed in France. Yes, a French production, I think. :)

A terrific movie. Way better than Solo or the other prequels.
