Been playing Dead Space so why not watch the accompanying animated films :)

Downfall was released same time as Dead Space (game) being a prequel to the events on the ill fated USG Ishimura. Aftermath is similar in presentation to Animatrix being multiple shorts that form a larger story. Good stuff if your into Dead Space, if not still worth a watch if you dig SciFi and or animation, personally preferring Downfall.

If unsure of the Dead Space universe; The Thing and Event Horizon combined is a pretty good explanation, dark and unsettling. Playing the game is where it's at and Dead Space (2008) has aged very well and remains to be a thrilling & immersive game to play through. In many respects Dead Space is horror done right, as much of the feat is in the players mind...

Huge fan of Dead Space on the Xbox 360. What an amazing game that was, I had no idea they actually converted into animated movie. What’s unique about ‘Dead space‘, is that it’s like ‘Doom’.... except better.

American History X

I literally haven’t seen this film since the year it was released and it’s every bit as powerful today.

It's really a modern classic in my opinion, and Edward Norton is a big reason for that. His fantastic portrayal of Derek Vinyard aside, it appears he was "a bit" difficult to deal with on set (a reputation he still seems to hold), to the extent that his demands for rewrites and such were the reason Tony Kaye would have liked to have his name in the credits changed to Alan Smithee (possibly the greatest director ever) as he felt that the finished movie wasn't exactly portraying his vision anymore.

Be all of that as it may, it's a brilliant film. I'd be really interested in seeing Kaye's vision brought to life one day, but as it is the movie does have a special place in my heart.

Project Power (2020 Netflix)- 57% RTAS. This movie should be better. A gene altering drug/substance gives people special powers for 5 minutes and is being sold on the street. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jamie Fox.

Watched that yesterday. I barely got through it. I agree with you, it should have been better. The story had potential, and they had the actors to do it... it just kind of fell flat for me.

I’ve given that movie multiple chances and never cared for it. I’d rank it as bad as ‘Total recall’ with Schwarzenegger. The Sci-fi genre just is so hit & miss sometimes.
Although they were released two years apart, I watched both The Fifth Element and Twelve Monkeys for the first time within a couple nights of each other in 1997, and so they're muddled in my brain. And to make the confusion worse, both star Bruce Willis. It's Twelve Monkeys I prefer for the story, although I haven't rewatched it in at least 10 years so couldn't say how it holds up.

The Door in the Floor [2004]

This type of movie usually wouldn’t be my forte preferably. But anything with Jeff Bridges, is an instant score for me. The movie itself is about a writer (Bridges), And he hires a assistant over the summer to help around their household. This assistant (who is John Foster), developed a relationship with Bridges wife, Kim Bassinger, who is struggling with depression with the death of a family accident with her sons.

It’s one of those films that’s hard to describe, You have to watch this to fully understand everything and it’s not even worth trying to describe here. It is a rather ‘downer‘ of a movie in how the mood is set, but the acting is good, the musical score is very good with a pace that draws the viewer in emotionally.

I’m gonna repeat myself again just for the sake because I can😁, but Jeff Bridges is so incredibly talented not just in this movie itself, but how he’s so natural when he acts. Nothing seems ‘forced‘, and this movie really shows you his true talent.

This film feels like a period piece from a slightly skewed alternate dimension. In an unknown time, the unnamed authoritarian "Empire" attempts to hold a small patch of land in a place only know as the "Frontier", defending it from a (real?, imagined?) "Barbarian" hoard.

This film shows you the trajectory of Johnny Depps career, which is unfortunate, (as he’s a vet-actor), but this a C-grade movie at best.

I haven't seen this movie and in general avoid Johnny Depp's later stuff, but what is Mark Rylance doing in this? He's a well-respected UK actor, most notably in the somewhat recent the adaptation of Wolf Hall as Thomas Cromwell.
