This film does a decent portrayal of what it was like during the early 90’s of ‘gang wars’ in L.A. More so, it’s also a film that differentiates how police officers significantly acquired less professionalism through training and failed at effective communication with minorities in place of combative violence, which was direct transcendence of amped violence and hostility during that time frame. Lets just say ‘community rapport’ was pretty much non-existent.

Anyways, I liked the film. You can’t go wrong with Robert Duvall and Sean Penn was very impressive in this film, [especially because being one of his first.]

Enjoy!

C-Grade movie at best. (And that’s being lenient.)

A male & female are boarding a small aircraft flying across an ocean, when the pilot suffers a heart attack, and then they’re forced to fly the plane not knowing which direction, controls and they’ve lost all radio communication.

Sometimes it’s easy to confuse bad acting with a bad plot, this movie just has a bad plot, the acting was Ok. It does provoke thought that someone could easily be in this situation and what would you do/how would you handle it, so that part I found interesting.

What I really like about the film, it’s actually filmed partially in Mauritius, which is an island east of Africa, near Madagascar. (It’s also the same island where ‘Serenity’ was filmed with Matthew McConaughey/Anne Hathaway.)

That’s actually one of my future destinations spots I’d like to visit, gorgeous scenery.

Sounds like an interesting premise. :)

You might like certain parts of it, (being you're a former pilot). The CGI they used movie when they through fly the storm is actually decent, it’s just the rest the movie just doesn’t really mesh very well together. The airplane used in the movie was a ‘GippsAero GA-8 Airvan’ (Yup, I had to look it up, I didn’t know what model it was.)

BTW:

You should look into ‘Microsoft flight simulator 2020’. It’s Available for the PC now, (you’re gonna need a powerful rig to play this game), and it’s coming to the Xbox Series X summer 2021. If you get a chance, you should go to Microsoft’s website to take a look at this game, it uses ‘real time’ clocking to show you specific geographics around the world when you’re flying, real time weather affects, exact flight pattern controls and geometrical data all powered by Azure A.I. with ported landscapes from Bing maps.

There’s no other game on the market that can bring you this type of experience, and it’s the sole reason why I have the XSX for this game.

And? I’d like to hear an appraisal. :)
I loved it!

Aging, depressed, retired goth rocker, goes on quest to find his father's tormentor from Auschwitz.

Seriously, that is the plot and Sean Penn is brilliant.

@MtLoin2020 good share! I starting watching it yesterday morning while I was getting ready for work. Finished it when I got home.

I'd posted the trailer to this earlier in this thread and was looking forward to this one... oh well...

I’d still encourage you to watch it. I’m highly critical on movies being such a buff/enthusiast, you might like it, I just tend to be very open and Honest with the most apparent flaws, but I also highlight the good in every movie (If any). It’s not horrible, it’s just average at best, but sometimes that’s expected with ‘smaller budgeted’ films with actors that may not have been the most appropriate for a roll and script writing that teeters to the point that’s it’s not plausible to the viewer.

I watched The Trial of the Chicago 7 the other night. It was pretty good but I feel like people are overrating Sasha Baron Cohen's performance. It was good but it really wasn't the meat of the movie until the very end. Rylance had a better performance, IMO.

I need more movie recommendations. I'm finding I want to see a movie but there is so much out there I spend most of my time looking for a movie rather than actually watching on. Has anyone seen that Miami movie, or is there a good sci fi movie I should be paying attention to?

I watched part of this yesterday when I heard that Christopher Plummer had died. Great movie.

Actually, tonight, I watched it from start to finish.

And yes, agreed, it is a terrific movie.

And to others reading this thread, I would argue that the Laendler dance scene is a superb scene, one which treats of desire, and the shock of suddenly (and belatedly realised) mutual attraction, all flawlessly executed in a stunning and exquisitely expressed (and completely silent and superbly acted) meticulous dance sequence.

The reality is, I’m a fan of Liam Neeson, even though I do think like 60% of his films are primarily recycling the same plot, just in different way that he kills people.😁

But, I found this movie that he stars in and it’s a different type of role for him, usually he’s more of the ‘action type’ genre, to my surprise, he actually has very few scenes in this movie, which this film shocked me in quite a few ways. It’s about a couple who is struggling with there marriage, and the wife, [played by Julian Moore], suspects that Liam Neeson‘s character is having affair with his college students, so she hires an ‘entertainer’ [Amanda Seyfried] to Lure him in to see if he indeed is being unfaithful.

And that’s where things kind of get awkward in this movie. It’s a movie that I thought would be more of a ‘suspense’, when it’s more of an -erotic unrealistic drama- of events that is not feasible in any regard whatsoever. The movie had me hooked enough to want to watch the end of it, but the sequence of events isn’t how sensible people handle things when it comes to infidelity, that’s what this movie leans towards is showing the viewer why the film industry is totally unrealistic.

I’m pretty convinced David Fincher [Director of the movie], is not just a great script writer, but is also a genius. He also directed my other favorite with ‘Gone girl’.

The movie includes Rooney Mara, (who I’m actually not really all to-well-familiarized with her as an actress), she was excellent in this movie. And of course Daniel Craig who we all know. The plot surrounds a murder that was unresolved from 40 years ago, and Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig‘s character team together to help resolve this murder.

It’s a very dark movie, with a little bit of satire mixed in, but it’s also very lengthy film that really does an excellent job showing you piece by piece how this murder is resolved and who is behind it.

Also, if anybody’s familiar with ‘Gone girl’, it has an excellent musical score, and this film actually uses the same soundtrack incorporated into this film, but tuned a bit different. Interesting that Fincher decided to use the same musical score twice.

I saw the Swedish-language one. The first one made... very good.
