Yeah, Tomorrow War was like a less well-made, less funny, less clever Edge of Tomorrow movie.

On a very different note: I saw The Vast of Night recently, and absolutely loved it. It's a small, slow paced story with not a huge amount happening, about a small-town radio DJ and a telephone exchange operator who pick up weird, ominous radio signals during a local ball game.... but it's very intimate and believable. With very long single-shot scenes which I think really draw you in with the characters. Fantastic cinematography.

Most modern films overwhelm you with complex plots, lots of action; but with the long intimate shots I think it's like going back in time when things were simpler and people were more innocent, and the wide-eyed fascination of the characters is very believable.

Saw 'Vast of Night' when it came out and it was excellent! Very gripping and realistic.

Mulholland Drive (2001) by David Lynch.
This is by far one of the best movies ever made. Acting is perfect, and Naomi Watts' breaking role is above superb. Direction is incredible, so many things to notice after each viewing. Soundtrack is just amazing. It's one of those movies that will make you think. It MUST be watched without any distraction, no phones, no interruptions or anything as it's mostly about flow. Only movie that gave me nightmares and it's not even a horror movie.
(This time I watched in its Criterion Edition)
Yep...watched it years ago...lots of 'head-twists' and Watts deserved an Oscar! Her progression thru the movie was impressive. Will watch again sometime but like you say: you have to pay attention!

Go in blind and enjoy the ride, one of the better Werewolf films. Watch for yourself and see...

Dog Soldiers (2002)

Another unconventional trip into Lycanthropy. Both of these films are intelligently executed, yet don't take themselves overly seriously with a focus of entertaining and thrilling the audience. Not deep or telling, just good romps and outlandish tales...

TLDR - The lost art of Fun :)

Ah, Sean Pertwee, who played Hugh Beringar so perfectly in Cadfael season 1. Unfortunately, he was replaced in subsequent seasons and the relationship never quite lived up to the original one between the two men. And for what it's worth, he's the son of Jon Pertwee from Doctor Who.

Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (2011 watched on Prime Video) English version with Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig. Excellent. I saw the original movie in Swedish and read the books, but it’s been too long for me to compare them. The Rapist Pig gets a surprise. 👀

Excellent film. Rooney Mara was fantastic and David Fincher (Director) is pure genius. (Reference ‘Gone Girl’ & ‘Fight Club’).

I like both versions of this film, watching either as the mood takes...

Man, I haven’t had a chance to watch a movie in probably at least two months.

I see ‘Tomorrow War’ is available free to watch on Amazon prime, but I passed when I saw the reviews. I like Chris Pratt, I think he was excellent in Jurassic World and Guardians of the Galaxy [Where he gained a lot of traction], he is naturally very charismatic and and seems he can act impromptu on a whim, very similar to Ryan Reynolds ‘Deadpool’. But I don’t think as an actor, he’s good in everything, and quite frankly, I do think he is a bit overrated.

If anyone hasn’t watched ‘Passengers’ with Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence, that would be a good one looking into, I do think he was good in a ‘deep space’ oriented type of film.
I liked Passengers.

Rear Window (1954) - Directed by Alfred Hitchcock
Starring James Steward and the beautiful Grace Kelly, Hitchcock delivers one of the best mystery movies in history. I won't spoil anything, this movie must be watched. I think it's the first time I watched this as an adult; I found many surprising elements, from sound design to more provocative scenes (Miss Torso must've been quite a scandal back then) and the fact that it's filmed almost entirely in a single apartment makes this a movie for the ages.

Tomorrow War was an entertaining 2 hours. It's not going to win Oscars, but it's better than, say, most of the recent Transformers films. And Independence Day 2. Yes, the plot has giant holes in it, but that's pretty much de rigueur these days for a "blockbuster" style action movie.
Sadly I also watched The Tomorrow War. I agree major plot holes, quite uninspired, a movie to watch with other Sci-Fi friends while playing "bored" games.

Watched "Werewolves Within" last night. Wife hated it, I friggin' loved it! Its a silly stupid movie, but some of the supporting characters are hilarious

Saw Black Widow over the weekend.

Loved it. Hell the whole family did and I was the only one really interested in seeing it. It did a good job of fleshing out Black Widow and seeing where she came from.

Florence Pugh was awesome as Yelena.

Save your money, trust me. Black Widow isn't a terrible film by any means, however it's far from the best of the series. Should have been released several years ago with a less formulaic, more relevant script. Film tries to be too many things all at the same time, worse IMO a disservice to the main character.

Too little, too late with a weak setup at the end to facilitate yet more of the same should the box office figures pan out. Sadly Black Widow is middling at best :(

We paid $46 as a family of four to see it in the theaters, and then more for popcorn and sodas. People balk at the $30 price tag, but I do see where they came up with the number. Also, at the premier Disney+ price, you can watch it multiple times.

But I am glad I saw it in the theater. I feel all Marvel movies should get at least one viewing on the big screen.

Typical price we used to pay for a matinee was $7 per ticket (Showbiz Cinema chain) and that was just before the pandemic. :)
