I watched Shang Chi over the weekend and was not impressed. It was cool to see how it links into the MCU and sets up future events, but the overall movie just didn't have that same Marvel feel to it as prior movies.

I also watched Jungle Cruise and it was an enjoyable watch, had a very distinct old-school Disney feel like I remember from my childhood.
Really, I liked it. I wasn't overly impressed with Snake Eyes.

Should I say I saw this when it came out in '77? It was good then but I wonder how I would like it today.

Polar (2019)
"A retiring assassin suddenly finds himself on the receiving end of a hit, contracted by none other than his own employer seeking to cash in on the pensions of aging employees."

Yet another movie with a horrible Rotten Tomato rating that I almost passed on. YouTube reviewers also didn't seem to like it either.

I decided to give it a try to do to it having Mads Mikkelsen in it, and I loved it.

Maybe it was because I started watching with expectations that it might be bad, but it end up being a really fun movie.

It was a little campy, and very self aware of its campiness. I don't always like this movie style, but in this case, it was camp done right. I would compare it to the opposite of Frank Miller's The Spirit (2008), which was camp done wrong.

Some of the acting wasn't the best, and the bad guy was a little over the top, but Mikkelsen was great. I loved Ruby O. Fee's character in the movie, not sure why she got so much hate on YouTube.

Maybe only a "C" movie, but a solid C. Definitely worth watching.

Last Night in Soho (2021)

Did this film a massive disservice, first watched when was dog tired with the flu on a small screen :( Turned it off once, came back to it, still couldn't get into it :(

Few days later on a bigger display, better sound & clearer head :) What a watch. No spoilers, if into the 60's, thrills & drama this is for you. Film isn't looking to be historically accurate, yet it flows beautifully and very cleverly done in places. Top soundtrack if that's your gig, this one hooks you right in to the end and kind of brings a smile to the face.

No doubt on the big screen at the cinema this one would be a blast :)

A deep and profound drama that explores shame & denial on multiple levels across the principle characters lives. An absolutely mesmerizing watch beautifully shot, superb audio, most of all fabulously executed. The Reader is a masterclass in the what the film covers, yet one that's not for all...

Note; not children friendly.

It might be great but I make it a point not to watch Woody Allen films.
I fully understand. Match Point is a film that simply resonates for me. One that if you watch your going to come back too over again for the performance of the cast. The rest of the directors catalogue zero interest, more so these days...

I haven’t seen that film for about 10 years, need to watch it again as it was excellent from what I remember.

Watched the Red Notice last evening. A bit random storyline but was a fine evening watch.
I watched Red Notice a few weeks ago.

The chemistry between all the leads was really good.

It was enjoyable to see the three leads together, but the plot didn't make any sense, and at the same time, was really predictable.

Sadly, that is pretty much the state of most modern movies.

I am a sucker (pun intended) for vampire flicks...

Watching the "Wes Craven Presents" trilogy (Dracula 2000 / Dracula II: Ascension / Dracula III: Legacy) before it goes away from AMC+ at the end of the day (Nov. 30, 2021)...

I am still processing my feelings on this movie. It was a bit clonky, and plodding at times. I enjoyed my time watching it, but I am not sure I liked it as a sum total.

However I must say that it was in no way formulaic, and had an extremely unique premise, and plot. Great acting, with the co staring actresses leaping off of the screen. Also a visual treat to watch in 4k HDR.

It isn't brilliant, but it is worth a watch.

A film that has grown on me more and more on me over time. Far more cleverly executed than some would like you to think, in more ways than one...

I love this movie on so many levels, Michael Mann, the Director, did such an amazing job with this film. And the musical score is awesome, that I actually have downloaded.

The whole movie has flair, and there’s awesome cars and boats, solid acting by Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx.

If you haven’t, watch ‘Collateral’, Which has the same Director, it stars Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx, another amazing Michael Mann film.
