The Power of the Dog (2021)

On my favorites list for 2021. Likely Oscar contender. Definitely not a Marvel film. You have to work it. It's all about the people - what they say, what they don't say, what is their history, what their facial expressions tell you they aren't saying. It's a mystery about Bronco Henry. A thinking film.

Glad it's on someone's favorite list. :D

Angel Heart (1987)

One to watch, great cast, given great material, directed by the right person. Angel Heart is a dark thriller that touches of horror, a mystery that slowly unwinds all set in the neo-noir...

The Reader (2008)

A deep and profound drama that explores shame & denial on multiple levels across the principle characters lives. An absolutely mesmerizing watch beautifully shot, superb audio, most of all fabulously executed. The Reader is a masterclass in the what the film covers, yet one that's not for all...

Note; not children friendly.

Agree! Remember watching it years ago..will probably watch again. Don't know if she did but Winslet deserves an Oscar for her acting.

It snowed today and I decided to watch "Home Alone". How nice it is to return to childhood again.
I just watched both 1 and 2 for the first time ever. Never watched when released. Too childish for me at the time. I see the appeal although I wouldn't watch again. First is definitely superior to the 2nd. The 2nd is quite forced and too saccharine. And that's saying something considering the first is quite gooey. But the wife loves them so she wanted to watch as it's Christmas. I enjoyed them because it's Christmas!

Watched Togo yesterday. Love Siberian Huskies so I would like the movie even if it sucked but it was good. Togo did the Nome (diphtheria) Serum Run, not Balto (whom I'm sure was a good dog in his own right).

An Original Movie starring Willem Dafoe and Julianne Nicholson, “Togo” is the untold true story set in the winter of 1925 that treks across the treacherous terrain of the Alaskan tundra for an exhilarating and uplifting adventure that will test the strength, courage and determination of one man, Leonhard Seppala, and his lead sled dog, Togo. The poignant and emotional adventure debuts on Disney+ on Dec. 20, 2019.

Just watched Spider-Man: No Way Home. Wild time. Movie started at 12:10 which was the same time a 6.2 magnitude earthquake hit 20 miles off the coast. Theater was mostly empty, maybe 20 of us in a 300+ capacity room. A few ran for the door, but then it was over. I got the text alert, that I signed up for, right as it happened, which imo was a tad bit late to do me any good. I don’t think any of us left, we all just sat back down waiting for the movie to start, in true California fashion. Ride the wave and carry on!
Oh yeah, the movie was great! Loved it. Anyone who’s plugged into MCU is obviously going to see this, but this is not the place to start if you haven’t seen any of the other Spider-Man movies. Nuff said.
