I love this movie on so many levels, Michael Mann, the Director, did such an amazing job with this film. And the musical score is awesome, that I actually have downloaded.

The whole movie has flair, and there’s awesome cars and boats, solid acting by Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx.

If you haven’t, watch ‘Collateral’, Which has the same Director, it stars Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx, another amazing Michael Mann film.
Watched Collateral, but for me Miami Vice easily kills it. Latter has it all going on, just need to keep your eyes & mind open, it's all in the visuals :)

80's what a rush  Way better than the sadness we are currently stuck with...

Picked up the 4k blu-ray of Sicario.

While the plot is a bit meandering, this is such an excellent movie. I love how Denis Villeneuve uses his sound production to keep up the tension.

Amazing performance by Emily Blunt.

One of the best war movies I have seen, movie showing life on a small warship trying to "shepherd" a convoy across dangerous seas. Based on a book "The Good Shepherd".
Due to pandemic it was delayed, Apple decided to show it on just launched Apple TV+, and is still their best opening movie on new network, 1.5 years later. It was a very good decision, and its success proves it.
Let me say, Hanks played the character superbly.

Also so "Finch" OK movie but fantastic acting by Tom Hanks.

Eternals, more because it ties into MCU phase 2 (more drama than action, still good).

Shang-Chi, a really good MCU movie.

And who I dressed up for Halloween as (did on supper low budget too, like $0.00! Had very similar cloths and cup, made the badge myself)
Loads of fun.

Thankfully never occurred, nor should such an event ever be considered as absolutely nobody wins. I strongly believe the events of the ill fated Chernobyl nuclear power plant educated & grounded the leaders of the world in the day, bringing us back from the brink of destruction. A lesson many leaders should reprise today for very good reason...

The Unforgivable (2021 Netlix)- A story of a woman who spent 20 years in jail for killing a cop, part of a team of law enforcement coming to evict them, her and her little sister. Now she is out on parole, living in a halfway house, and wants to reconnect with her sister who has been adopted by a family who the parents want no part of her. I found this to be excellent, but the critics hammered it. ?

Sandra Bullock is a brilliant actress. This is a brutal film. Certainly not an exercise in “entertainment”.

This film is, in my mind, a masterwork. Stunning. Gut wrenching. Thought provoking. It might not bring anguish to the viewer, but we are certainly witnesses to the anguish of her character. “She was only five years old!!”

For myself, when a story makes an impression on me, I am effected and impressed when a story can emotionally touch me. And what touched me was the brutality of the system, and what happens when you are hammered (rightfully or wrongfully) by the legal system, you must claw your way back up. Now I’ve seen many movies about felons, how your life is ruined as I would describe it, and how difficult it is to recover, if ever.

For this particular story it helps that at the ending:
is upbeat, not being shot by police and reconnecting with her sister. Based on the tone of this movie, I was fully expecting the main character to be shot by police at the end.

I was very impressed by the movie an American Crime. I had heard about him before, but somehow I missed it. And when I looked I was horrified by the realization of human cruelty and human indifference. The film is based on real events that took place in the last century in the 60s.

Invisible Guardian - Netflix. Long and interesting. A detective returns to her hometown to find a serial killer and face her personal demons.
The Offering to the Storm looked intriguing. But I noticed it was the third of a Trilogy. So I started from the beginning. I just finished #2, The Legacy of the Bones, and am looking forward to #3. It is amazing how dark and violent the history of the Human Race is. I don't speak Spanish, so I watched the over-dubbed English version. I might go back and watch the Spanish with the subtitles, to experience the original actors' performances. I recommend both Invisible Guardian and the Legacy of the Bones. We are so enamored with this "bubble of now" we find ourselves in; but the past still has many secrets that need to be brought to light. This Trilogy is quite compelling; and at least points us into the direction of a number of past lives we have forgotten ...

The Power of the Dog (2021)- personal drama, 2 brothers, a wife and son, sigh, slow, drab, dreary, some treachery to get it over with, 1925 Montana story filmed in New Zealand, the critics love this, the audience not so much. I was somewhere between get to the point, and let it be over. One reviewer likened the atmosphere to a horror film while giving it a positive review. ?

I can watch a somewhat depressing felon movie (Inforgivable) and still be drawn into good drama.

I tried to watch "The Family Stone" but couldn't stand it and turned it off in the middle. A very strange movie with a strange message. I absolutely do not understand either the main character, or the hero, or, moreover, his family. If there are people here who watched this movie and you liked it, it will be very interesting for me to hear your point of view. Perhaps I misunderstood something.

Gave it a go last night. Realized I could noodle on my ipad while watching it. Did so and just turned the movie off 15 minutes later. It’s not a bad movie, per se, just hard to engage with. At least it was last night. Maybe I‘ll finish it later...(Borat voice)not.

Power of the dog? And what kind of a title is that? Yes, I know it’s from the Bible by way of the movie, but still, not something to draw me in. Not saying this is the only reason to dislike it, just something to heap on top. ;)
