Just got done watching "The Batman." It was a very dark (character wise) movie. The movie started out strong and got weaker as it progressed. The ending felt as if the writers didn't know how to end the movie. Overall, I think the movie should have been shorter. I give it a B-.

Agreed... Had a very "Seven'ish" feel to it. I liked that aspect of it. I did not like Cat Women and her whole plot line. I liked it, but if they would have kept it dark and on point, I would have loved it.

Have you watched the interview with the Joker???

I watched The Batman as well and agree it was too long. I loved the style of it, though, mostly enjoying it until I started looking at how much longer it had left to finish. Pretty disappointed with The Riddler, which I’ll explain below. I liked that this movie really leaned into the gothic and noir elements. It felt like a real nod to the Detective Comics days of Batman in the 40’s and 50’s.
I really thought The Riddler was going to be the half brother of Bruce Wayne. It seemed like it was all being set up for this to happen, with BW’s mother having been in and out of mental institutions and The Riddler ‘s tease about the sins of the father. I was thinking Martha Wayne gets impregnated while locked up in a mental institution, Thomas Wayne keeps it hushed and quietly puts the baby into the orphanage. This child is Edward Nashton and he discovers who his mother is and fixates on his half brother Bruce Wayne, puts 2 and 2 together and realizes he’s The Batman. Instead he just had a chip on shoulder from growing up in the orphanage and wants to kill the entire city and only briefly do we think he knows the truth about Bruce Wayne. Boring, boring, boring.

Interesting but it isn't that really similar to what they did in Joker?

I hadn’t thought about Joker‘s storyline since watching it, but maybe that planted the seed in my head. I think I just read into the clues in The Batman and wanted a more compelling reveal. Had The Batman gone the route I anticipated, it probably would have been panned for copying Joker, though. It would have been much darker though, which this movie leaned into.

I enjoyed this movie but not as much as I hoped I would. I usually rewatch most Marvel/DC movies but I've no urge to sit through this again. It was too long and Gotham needs some more light bulbs. The constant darkness made me sleepy.

Watched The Batman. Masterpiece. I didn't expect much. After the 90s movies that went bad after the first one (well, in 1989) and the Nolan trilogy that took a turn for the worse as well, this one was surprisingly good. Fantastic cinematography and going the "detective route" was refreshing. I'm just not sure if I want to see another Joker in the next movie.

I’m gonna tune in this weekend, [as I haven’t had a chance to watch a movie in a long time]. I heard it’s three hours long, which is fine, being my intention span is longer than that of a nine-year-old.:D

And a throwback to the 1989 Batman with Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson, was outstanding. I still think in my opinion, Michael Keaton was one of the best Batman‘s ever, and Jack Nicholson really was designed not to play just the role of a villain, but a ‘mad man’. And what a great soundtrack the 1989 version also had. Heck, I might even que that one first for some nostalgia. :D

I was surprised at how good of a Batman Michael Keaton was. Thought it would totally suck, glad I was wrong.

Just watched Death on The Nile (2022). I quite enjoyed it. Really missed these kinds of murder mystery dramas. In the age of ADHD-induced bombastic action/superhero movies, dramas like Death on The Nile imo becomes a gem. I hope Branagh would continue with more Poirot movies.

Just watched the Batman. Good venue for Robert Pattinson, not a lot of talking
Well…considering most of the Batman protagonists actually have very little dialogue in the majority of the movies. That’s by design. If anything, Robert Pattinson scores higher on the charts as Batman over the likes of George Clooney and Val Kilmer, who had cringey script writing for their dialogue. So there’s that.

just being moody.
So you must’ve obviously never watched Christian Bale as Batman through ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy either.:D

Uncharted, well... I'm not sure about this. It works well for a treasure hunter movie, but not so much for Uncharted based on the games. I just don't know. It acts as a prequel/origin story as both Nate and Sully are young, but then we get scenes directly from the games?!? Massive plotholes of course, at least one big one that made me scratch my head.

Pleasant surprise, Chloe is in the movie. I've always liked her more than Elena. But her character is not used very well, more like a minor sidekick in some scenes. The ending with her is not very well done, unless she's in the next movie again and we won't get Elena for a while (I hope that's the case, but I doubt it given the mid credit scene). When Nate grabbed the bracelet from the girl at the bar in the beginning, at first I though that's Elena. I'm actually glad she's not in the movie.

Sully doesn't really work for me, but I think it's more Wahlberg. Nate, I somehow can't unsee Spider-Man, Holland acts just like in the Spider-Man movies minus the suit. But he's better than Wahlberg/Sully. Both characters are off compared to the games.

It works "ok", best parts are when the Uncharted music from the games kicks in.

Explorer: The Last Tepui, this isn't a fictional movie, but a documentary. Loved it. Found it because Alex Honnold posted about it on Instagram, they brought him in to climb a Tepui in the Amazon and help Bruce Means to look for uncatalogued species there. Not enough climbing in there in my opinion, but still well worth watching.

Moonfall, it's a popcorn flick. But even by Emmerich's standards, it's bad. I didn't expect much, only a lot of stuff being blown up and people running around, while some save the day. And that's what it is, but it's so slow and boring in the beginning that I caught myself checking the time when it's finally over. It jumped around a lot when it comes to locations, so it's easy to lose track. As for the characters, I really didn't care. I didn't hate them, but didn't like them either. Of all the Emmerich movies I've seen, this one is by far the worst.

While I loved this movie, I'll admit your description isn't inaccurate based on what you've seen so far. I advise you to finish it though as you might be surprised. It had some really well done moments and the character is set up well for future installments.
When it shows up on Disney, I’ll probably give it another chance. :)

The Take (2016)- Enjoyable, but feels far fetched action flick set in Paris with Idris Elba and Richard Madden.

Ant Man (2015)- Again! Creative Marvel entrée, unique concept, entertaining, the small perspective is well done, visually exciting, satisfying story and outstanding cast. :D

Agreed... I even liked part two! But then again, I like Paul Rudd. Dude always makes me laugh and Michael Pena freaking cracks me up in this role.
