Epic film with a star who was genuinely a star....
Another great one...Koyaanisqatsi (1982).
The only thing keeping the idiot population is check is Darwin. But once AI can overcome the consequences of "Watch this" and "Hold my beer", what will thin the herd?😬People thought Idiocracy was a comedy, until twenty years passed and it became a documentary...
One of my all time favorites!Faust (1926)

The Voice of the Tempter. God and Satan wager on the soul of a learned and prayerful alchemist as part of their eternal war over Earth. Murnau’s most baroque work - an instance of the director working both within maximalism and in examination of maximalism as well. Faust is renowned for its visual effects and is considered a classic of German expressionist cinema.

Idiocracy.

In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king. Joe Bauers (Luke Wilson) is the average in every conceivable way, the prototypical Average Joe. But 500 years in the future, President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew😏 Herbert Camacho (Terry Crews) taps him to save America due to him being the smartest man alive.
I laughed at first. Then the realization that we meet 2 of the 3 requirements: 1) Corporations having de facto control over our lives and 2) the dumbing down of society. The final requirement of AI being able to take care of our needs is the final piece.
20 years ago, this would have been a funny, funny movie. Today it's a depressing look in the mirror.😢
That sounds interesting; I’m going to look it up.Under the Skin (2013)
View attachment 2641915
A seductive stranger prowls the streets of Glasgow in search of prey: unsuspecting men who fall under her spell.
Under the Skin explores themes of identity and humanity through its abstract storytelling and haunting visuals. A film that's very unlikely to produced again, especially with it's AAA lead in a film with a budget of just $13.3 million.
Under the Skin appeals to viewers who appreciate art-house films, science fiction, & thought-provoking narratives that explore themes of alienation, gender, and the human condition. Its unique storytelling and visual style will resonate particularly with those who enjoy slow-burn cinema and abstract themes...

I have a soft spot for this film and, by extension, for all the cloververse movies.Cloverfield (2008)

Five young New Yorkers throw their friend a going-away party the night that a monster the size of a skyscraper descends upon the city. Told from the point of view of their video camera, the film is a document of their attempt to survive the most surreal, horrifying event of their lives. Has the too much shacky cam for my liking but not a bad watch for a film of the found footage genre. Want the best Blair Witch with the right cut still has the crown, the OG VHS is hard to beat... Was a time and a place.

In my opinion, it’s worth a watch, yes. That sounds interesting; I’m going to look it up.
It's a really interesting film - was taken from an original book (of the same name) by Michel Faber. The film's relationship with the book is a bit like the Road, in that both the book and film are really interesting but do somewhat different things to a degree. Might be worth reading the book first...but the film does stand on it's own...That sounds interesting; I’m going to look it up.
