Don't miss anything yet from the PC World

I have had my new G5 for about 3.5 weeks and do not miss anything from the PC World.

The Mac World is soooo awesome. And I have been saying "why did it take me so long to switch?"

I bought, took home, plugged in and was off and running.

I have just bought a Mac and i like many of the apps on it but i gotta be honest this mentality that they are vastly superior to PCs in every aspect is total nonsense. I dont know why people cant just give credit where it is due and stop trying to feel superior because of what computer they use.. I know not everyone is like this but theres seems to be an overwhelming majority who think its a competition..

I have had so many die hards try and tell me how much better Macs are and how much easier things will be for me now i bought a Mac, but then when i start to discuss something from PC land it seems people have little or no idea what im talking about, so if you arent aware of all the options how do you know whats best ??. Being elitist with limited knowledge makes a person look like a total tool if you ask me.

Meanwhile here i am doing a million OS and software updates from OS X 10.2 to 10.3.9 cause nothing is comaptible.. Now id like to go to Tiger but theres some programs im led to believe wont run.. Ok so what happened to everything just working and being easy ?? Windows doesnt have any of that on it, you can still run apps from 5 years ago on XP..

Also as I have said before, a big part of the reason PCs are riddled with adware and other crap is market share.. I get the feeling everyone thinks this is due to some superior underbelly on Macs but then nobody can tell me what that is.. Its market share, when you got 97% of people running PCs its no wonder thats who gets targeted. Hey, i just read where someone said AOLs Mac page is never updated, it's not hard to see why other smaller companies or virus writers wouldnt care about targeting Macs if AOL can barely be bothered. It doesnt reduce the fact that it is nice to not have that on Macs but all im saying is see it for what it is.

There are many things i agree which suck about PCs. The software uninstall and registry stuff is messy and nowhere near as nice as copying and deleting one file like on Macs. A lot of the software is totally bloated and full of unecessary crap.. These things suck no doubt.. But please come down off your high horse, otherwise i will refuse to participate in the disussions at your forum.
Personally, I hate heights...I can't even climb a horse without getting dizzy and passing out
I don't miss anything from the pc world...on the rare occassions that I need a pc fix my Dell is in the other room...pc's are cheap enough so you can have both if you want...solves my problem

You think like this because you just bought a mac. I thought the same. I wasn't a switcher, when I bought my mac. I was a dual user. I still loved my PC and running XP. Give it 6 months when you really find some great mac software and feel at home on the OS. I think you might change your mind. I still have and use a PC, but I can't stand using it anymore.

I desperately miss Cool Edit/ Audition.

I just want to make a rough selection of a sound file then use cursor keys to move the start & end points while it's playing to make a loop ready to cut & paste.

But no, there's not a mother****ing program that does such things

Now I have to run parallels.

What are you thinking Adobe???
It's a great piece of software...:confused::confused::confused:

-definitely Picasa, I love that program
-most pc games, but I don't really mind booting into windows for that
-identical software that is cheaper on pc
-Office 2007

Those are the main ones I think

My list is short -
any and all applications related to archiving my media collection.
I use on Mac Handbrake from time to time but less and less.

On the Windows side -
AnyDVD HD
TSMuxer
EAC3to (GUI)
DelayCut

So they all run in Fusion for now. If one of those crossover apps worked properly with these items I would say adios to Windows entirely.

I do have lil dislikes of OSX over say XP. As example - the "get info" on a file brings up a window to the far left of the screen. If you have a 24" or 30" screen its just plain annoying to span across your screen to view it. Again just little things.

i just miss newsleecher, unison is just not up to par. Other than games thats all i miss, but thats why i've got a $600 gaming machine.

I don't miss much from the windows side...about the only program I really wanted to keep was mIRC, because I've basically been using it since '96 or '97 and it's still regularly updated.

I do like Colloquy, but there's just something about mIRC that I like better, so thanks to getting Crossover for free the other day, I can run just one or two programs (also Yahoo Messenger for windows lets me transfer files to other users....Adium's not letting me do that for some reason.)

So just those two programs right now, otherwise I'm happy not to have to run windows every day and have to keep all these antivirus/antispyware programs running all the time, and have to optimize my system once a month cos it's slowing down.

Switcher for life :apple::D

Nokia PCsuite..
SMSing with keyboard is way easier (and the software's free!). Sigh, those were the times. I hope Nokia will develop a PCsuite for Mac soon.. :(

StormCodec?
It can make WMP run almost anything (even RMVB!).. Do they have such software for mac? :D

MS Money. I am really disappointed that there isn't a quality equivalent for the Mac. I've MyMoney and it didn't cut the mustard.

And being able to do simple tasks like upload the latest firmware to my Sony Ericsson phone. I have to go to my brother's house and wrestle with his Windows XP machine to so this type of thing. I normally wash my hands afterwards... lol

PDF Annotator!!!! It works prefectly on PC, allowing u to hand write directly on pdf file!!! but no counterpart for MAC~~~:(:(

When I had my IMac I didnt miss any thing now I miss Ical is there any way to get that for XP
