just curious, to see if we have multiple manufacturers on these new P3 screens, even though we can't identify which model# corresponds with which manufacturer,

I have a 13" nTB, model is A034

system preferences->displays->color tab->open profile->scroll to line 17 to identify

As a side note, my panel is beautiful, bright, and uniform! Nailed it on the screen lottery

edit 1: so far, A033 and A034 on 13"

And A030 and A031, on 15"

too small to say but two bum A033's, and one bum A031:
also should be stated, "no issues" and "problems" can be a subjective thing, but this is just for educational purposes.

I can't be hawk eyeing this all the time, but morbid curiosity will allow me to update this OP a few times.

15" A030
Manufacturer 0610
USA

Slight color unevenness of screen. Faint pink(R) to blue shift (L), but not distracting and no yellow or dinginess anywhere. It has equal color and brightness from top to bottom and I'm one of those who see screen issues. I suspect a lot of people would call this a perfect screen.

Battery life seems great. I've only tested it once and got close to 10 hours of use limited to web surfing, e-mail, texting, etc.

so at least 2 manufacturers for each screen size, so far,

not surprised, (or saying "meh" -- its business)

I think the 034 is better than the 030. If you have a 030 return it until you get a 034.

The good ol days :D

You've compared both or just making a hunch from its popularity thus far in this thread (and maybe in the wild in general)

here we go.

This is Mac 'rumors' ;)

I used to be a believer one manufacturer was preferable to another or others, and still may be, but I also feel like there's enough variations within each manufacture that there's just good and bad panels and manufacturer doesn't matter nearly as much as individual lottery

Sure, there are variations. But there's also psychology involved with this BIG time.

4 years ago it's was rather lively around here at about this time. Should be fun, if history repeats itself here.

not all apples built the same ;)

I just like people who say "what should I look for?"

If you don't see an issue, you win. whether its there or not, if you're good to go, you're good to go (Imo)

can't believe some people look for trouble,

13" with TouchBar. 0000A034 Display. Very happy with it, very bright, crisp and uniform color/light.

Everyone should also be posting their opinions on the panel they got. We can at least try to narrow down which model users are more happy with or which model is prone to users complaining about any specific issue.

Perhaps OP could be updated to keep a tally as we go along.

I've got a 13" TB with an A033.

I've seen 3 different TB models in stores, all with A033. I've also seen 3 different nTB models, all with A034. These model numbers also match that seen by notebookcheck.com in their reviews of the two models, so at least so far I believe there's a clear and stable split between the two 13" models.

My screen is great in terms of colour reproduction and backlight uniformity. I've calibrated using an i1display pro, and honestly the factory calibration from Apple is already pretty much perfect in terms of D65 and a gamma of 2.2.

This is my first "retina" MacBook Pro. The native white point of the panel is around 6700K according to my i1display pro. In comparison, the native white point of my 2010 MacBook Pro is a whopping 8000K, so the retina screens are definitely much warmer in comparison, but this is more "correct" in terms of approaching D65.

The only issue I've got with the A033 panel is a slight darkening towards the bottom 1/3 of the screen. Because the screen is already quite "warm," this could be interpreted as a yellowing towards the bottom 1/3, a VERY common complaint over the years. I see this with *every* IPS screen I've ever used, so I believe it's just a limitation of the technology and the viewing angle.

3 A030 and 1 A031 on 15" so far in my quick count
4 A034 (self included), 2 A033, for 13" so far,

A034 seems more popular in 13 and A030 for 15, but too small a sample size. preliminary.

I messed up models with sizes, I think so far there's only two manufacturers for each

not 3 for 13" as previously posted,

can't possibly keep track of the tally and keep updating it tho, too much effort

could create another thread with a poll once we concretely are aware of what models are out there or most ubiquitous

interesting observation about all nTB a034 and TB a033,

did you see any other visual differences between them?

liking it? both screen, and nTB in general.. what did you come from?

Also 610 is meaningless, every panel is 610 for as long as I can remember.

Appreciate the thoroughness tho :D
Coming from a 2015 12" MB. Really liking, perhaps even loving the machine, though I occasionally miss how super lightweight and portable the rMB was. I'll adjust in time though. ;)

There are no issues with the screen that I can see, though I also haven't gone looking for them. Enjoying the extra screen real estate over the rMB as well as the additional "oomph" to ensure no UI lagging, which I got from time to time when scrolling through webpages on Safari.

No, can't say I've noticed a difference between the A033 and A034. But this was all under bright store lighting, where it is practically impossible to judge display quality.
