That's because it was scaled down to 192x192 after you had already scaled it to 200x200, which would reduce the quality a bit further than simply uploading the 1000x1000 original and having it scaled down 192x192.

Avatars on MR still aren't optimized for Retina.

Oh, thanks. Just tried uploading in 192x192, don't see a huge difference but I think it looks better than 200x200?

I'm not a fan of the new look, but as a former forum owner and admin I understand the hard work that goes into it. I sold mine a few years ago. When I upgraded to the first version of vbulletin that jumped the shark, forget the number, traffic cut in half. Others were posting the same on the vbulletin forum.

Every time something changes I see posts of "new", "modern", "hip", etc. as when ios went retro flat, but I don't see having to do more actions to do something as advancing. It's changing. Sometimes change is done out of necessity and not for advance. That's life.

Again I do not mean to criticise, I appreciate the work,I truly do. I just miss the straightforward look of seeing all of the forums and first posts in each at a glance.

How about a Forum refresh that DOES NOT SUCK? It is hard to read because of the dainty feminine way too light blue for the backgrounds. Come on! We need to be able to sit here and read comfortably for hours. I mean, is that not the whole point of a forum?

The recent Web Hosting Talk Forum refresh also sucks. Hard to say which sucks most. Folks, there are some things that simply do not need to be changed. Or if so, make it gradual so no one notices.

AND SINCE THIS IS ACTUALLY TWO THOUSAND AND FIFTEEN, how about letting us customize OUR OWN COLORS????? Too much to ask??? Really? This is getting so old and tired.

Make the Forum READABLE above all else.

Screw you and your damn color choices. Give us back our forum. MacRumors sucks. Hard.

This isn't exactly news, but I'm having MDD issues:rolleyes:

As I'm migrating my computer to the new computer room, I'm slowly digging out MDDs, all of which I'd "mothballed." I have a single 1.25 that I know is set up with 4 HDDs and 10.2-10.5, but I don't think it has a correct MDD OS 9 install on it as it never worked correctly(I think the current OS 9 install is the on the hard drive that was in my first QS). I know that's a good, working computer, but I'm not quite yet ready to get it out.

I came across another single 1.25 from the big lot I bought last fall, and amazingly enough it seems to be a good, intact computer with a good hard drive. I loaded it up with RAM, installed a new(refurb) hard drive, and tried to get started with it. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it to boot off the restore disks(which I do have for this model). I tried a couple of different optical drives and even switching between ATA busses, but it was a no-go.

For the time being, though, I spent a little bit of time with the Sawtooth. I grabbed the RAM drawer and started throwing RAM in it, and think it came up as 894mb or something like that when I booted(I'm pretty sure it was 1x512 and 3x128).

The new forum made IE 5 roll over and die :) . It wouldn't render the page at all. Unfortunately, I don't have Classilla installed on this one. I also don't have my flash drive with a copy on it(it's at work) and I was having issues with downloading it. So, the Classilla test will wait for another day.

My 450mhz Cube(1.5gb RAM) really choked on the new forum in TFF(in Tiger), although it wasn't completely unuseable. Surprisingly enough, the new forum seems to be more resource heavy in TFF than watching a YT Video.

I agree with the people who appreciate the work that went into the update, but think it a step back. Personally, it looks terrible - and why does it take MORE work to get somewhere than before? That cannot be counted as anything but a backwards move.

Looks great and I love Xenforo. The notification and history features alone make it worth the price of admission.

Sounds to me like you just need to learn some new workflows because it is quicker for me to navigate around, so I disagree with your "more work" statement.

Just to add my voice to the chorus - there's too much white space and in my browser the format of the forum is jarring. Just sayin'...

There's no way to do it right now.

This is intentional. There is only one theme now that scales across all devices. I must say it looks good on an iPhone 6 Plus.

You can fix this annoyance with the "Toggle Width" button at the bottom, much like the old "Fixed / Fluid / Fluid HD" toggles.

Well, it certainly looks more modern, but I don't like how the list of topics is in larger boxes so you can only see a few at a time, and it's not as obvious which ones have been read as the bold isn't as bold.

I hope we can go back to seeing where everyone's from, it makes it more interesting.

Exactly that is what I wanted to say by "distracting" and "free floating elements on white background".

Thanks for the width toggle recommendation, that made it a very, very tiny bit more readable.

I also see now, that multiple quotes take several clicks, till someone can start posting.
Go down to reply box
be wondering where the quotes are
then see that there is a button that tells you "insert quotes" (why would I have quoted them, if I don't want to insert them?
then another box opens telling one what one is quoting and asking for "ok".
now start to write
It couldn't be easier

Also, why is there only US-english in the language setting?

PS: at least the smilies are better then in the last update.

Jury's still out from me. In defense of vBulletin this site wasn't utilizing a lot of the default feature set, granted as a former developer for vBulletin I'm probably not the most objective when it comes to swapping for a new board. That being said, it always takes some adjustment so I'll give it a shot. Kudos to the team here, I'm sure this migration was not an easy task, seems like it went pretty smoothly all considering.

Perhaps that info that was removed from below the avatar could be added as a hover on the avatar. I realize that's not a good solution for mobile though. Hmm...
