You are of course quite right, my error entirely. That said, I still wouldn't enter any information unnecessarily into any interface, even if the risk is negligible.
The risk of actually using your credit cards online or in some store is actually typically larger than that...I guess it's probably best not to use the cards at all based on that.

Well, they said Apple Pay would be working on Monday, and some guy on some other thread said that the store he worked for told its employees that Apple Pay would be available from the moment they open the store, at around 9 AM, so maybe because Apple is launching a BIG feature the iOS 8.1 update will land pretty early tomorrow.

Or, maybe the guy's employer knows nothing like the rest of us. And they are going to have the hardware enabled 1st thing in the morning, instead of running a mid-day update (assuming an update is even necessary.)

12pm central time. I'll do it when I get off work and hopefully you heathens have eased up on the servers, plus give me enough time to read the forums for problems.

Am I correct in assuming 8.1b2 users will need to update to 8.1 final for Apple pay?

Will we need to be on Wifi for this update, or can we download this via 4g?

Wouldn't be surprised if we got the same build as beta 2, but we could very well get a new build. The build names didn't change much from beta 1 to beta 2, and the build numbers themselves didn't signify betas which are usually longer with letters at the end of them.

Beta 2 is several weeks old, I'm pretty sure they've done some work to it in those few weeks. I'd be incredibly shocked if it had the same build number.

Not true. The carrier file determines the max size of an OTA update that the particular carrier will support over cellular.
Not for iOS updates themselves, those require WiFi for OTA.

And even for apps it's generally more of an iOS limitation than a carrier on (currently being at 100 MB).

----------

So for iOS 8.1 beta 2 users, can we just update OTA?
Generally OTA will not work going from beta to public (or public to beta).

So I will not get any software updates if I checked it via OTA?

Not true, all iOS updates require wifi, regardless of size.

What you're saying is true for App updates, but not for iOS software updates.
