I held an old iPhone 3gs the other day.... it felt amazing in the hand.
I am sick of big phones, I want a 3gs with updated specs.
OR frankly I would love to see an iFlipPhone.
How do you see Apple as having "screwed up"? The 5S is a current iPhone model pictured alongside the higher spec iPhones at Apple.com which they're still actively selling. Whatever does come later, IF it does, that is, would be an upgrade to a highly successful and still actively promoted/sold model.
Because Apple could have easily pushed out an updated 4" screen phone when it introduced the 4.7 and 5.5 inch size. It was obvious at the time that while there was a huge market for a bigger screen that it wasn't universal anymore than TV screens. The 5s isn't a "current tech". It hasn't been for a year and a half.
The result is that a lot of 4" fans didn't bother to upgrade at the next S cycle. Last quarter iPhone 6s revenue was a miss. Apple left money on the table when it effectively pulled the 4" from the annual update list. It now sees the error of it's judgment and is coming back to woo these iPhone 5 and 5s buyer back.
Beside that, it would be an extreme stretch of their focused, small-team expertise to expect THREE new phones at once; do you value quality or choice, more?
If this is all, then they loop us in on...what exactly?
Just new/different versions of old products. Version of version of version.
And ofcourse Wrist Bands!
Snoozing.... Wake me up when they loop us on something new.
To think Apple are not acutely aware of the plans they execute, is to insult their incredible foresight and planning skills.
See this is were my problem is with it, 3 phones from Apple I think its personally a bit to much considering the price of there iPhones, to me the price isn't an issue (not trying to blow my own horn here) but I know my opinion doesn't count for the many out there. I just can't see the new 4' iPhone being something that's updated and affordable!
To one who can afford iPhone, not being able to afford it is irrelevant. They're not vital to life, and if you can't afford one... oh well. Apple aren't going to dilute with cheap and tacky, they leave that to everyone else.
So basically like any other phone company out there? What Samsung done, water proofed there phones and given VR.
Let's face VR is like the 4K TV equivalent, great idea but not for this current time. it needs to grow before phone companies attempt to take over it.
Mac OS X is optimized by Apple and can do more with less hardware, just like iOS is optimized to do more with less hardware. Apple doesn't need to update their laptops and desktops. Only Windows and Android users care about specs.![]()
A record breaking quarter that's a miss? Seems like a non-sequitur.Because Apple could have easily pushed out an updated 4" screen phone when it introduced the 4.7 and 5.5 inch size. It was obvious at the time that while there was a huge market for a bigger screen that it wasn't universal anymore than TV screens. The 5s isn't a "current tech". Any yet they made the decision not to update the 4" alongside the bigger screens and their revenue shortfall shows it was such a poor decision that they brought back the 4" with updated guts, and did so ASAP, not at the regular iPhone launch event.
Sorry, but Apple's execution, foresight, and planning skills has been off since SJ left the building. There is a tissue roll of errors strewn out at One Infinite Loop. From the botched Maps launch to the staff debacles (Forster, Browett, Mansfield, etc) to product unavailability, to the flawed AW resale. These are men, not gods. They are infallible -- they've admitted some of their miscues. It's not heresy to suggest they mad bad choices.
The infinite loop of these "loop" predictions is what Apple is saying; it's recursive. You've tied yourself up in loops, trying to work it out. It's as subtle as the fact that the ONLY ironic thing in Alanis Morisette's "Isn't it ironic?" was the fact that the irony was that a song ABOUT irony, wasn't describing ANY truly ironic situations.
Now THAT was ironic (don't you think?), but you guys? ... driving us loopy with your being misdirected by the very thing Apple KNEW you'd get hung up on, and are guffawing HARD at you all.

Yeah, sure you have, except 3/4's of your posts have been derogatory and negative, tearing down others and pointing out flaws.
What a fukking pretentious hypocrite.
Quit fracturing the product line with stupidly named/rebranded products. Why couldn't this be released at just another size option as part of the iPhone 7 line in September?
iPad Pro? Makes about as much sense as jumping from iPad 4 to iPad Air.
What a load of rubbish. Specs may not matter for browsing the web or typing in Word, but for anyone who uses their MacBook Pro for any serious professional work, specs most certainly DO matter. OS level optimisations are only going to get you so far - when you're trying to composite video in After Effects, whilst rendering out of Premiere, you're going to want as much processing grunt and memory you can get your hands on. If Apple don't plan on releasing new MacBook Pros soon, they should look at adjusting their current prices to reflect the age of the technology they're selling - no way I'm paying AUD$4000 for a "top of the line" MacBook Pro which features 12-24 month old tech. They're taking us for a ride...
You are right, it still hasn't updated to show they are down. That website isn't updating fast enough. It's down everywhere.
I was pushing the button too, but official announce for Skull Canyon release date just put me in stand-by. I can wait a couple of monthsLet's get this thing over and done with so I can buy my NUC and get on with life.

Sailed to nowhere. If it had an effect at all, it destroyed Samsung profit share, but left the Android/iOS market share split virtually unchanged. Big iPhones were a necessity to fend off competition, but so were iPad mini and iPad Pro, which doesn't mean the preferred form factor for most people didn't stay with the iPad Air size. The difference is, with not offering a small iPhone for two years in a row, Apple expressed its expectation that the small form factor was no longer relevant. The rumored iPhone SE can be seen as a shift of opinion within the company.Apple had to introduce the larger 4"7 and 5"5 because of clear shifts in the market to larger screen phones, as media consumption increased exponentially. That ship has now sailed.
No I don't remember 2012, but I remember 2007 the first iPhone keynote when Steve Jobs pointed out in detail why physical keyboards are the enemies of progress ("Can't add a button."). Too bad you needed more than 5 years to realize what was obvious to everyone from the beginning. A 4-inch iPhone isn't technology from the past unless you put old technology in it. With the rumored specs the iPhone SE is every bit a modern smartphone just in a smaller form factor. There will always be a smaller proportion who cling to the past. Remember in 2012 (many, including myself swore by physical keyboards). But each year, that group has gotten smaller and smaller.
You're not wrong with one thing, so you must be right with another thing? Sorry that's not how it works! Better for media consumption is not the all deciding factor, otherwise we would all use 15 and 17-inch MacBook Pros.Even today, the remaining blackberry die-hards still exist, but they are small in number...
Good for you, if you already have the iPhone you always wanted. Just wait five years to see if not you come around on hand-sized iPhones again.I'm not bashing the SE and happy that Apple is providing choice - my point is that if that is the highlight of today's keynote... then not so exciting for the market and for apple fans...
