All the hype for this iPhone has really put things into perspective.....I love Apple but I feel like they really dragged their feet as far as iPhone hardware is concerned. Other companies have been making thin/edge-to-edge phones for years now. Here we are freaking out over a phone that should have been released two years ago, and certainly not for over 1,000$

Off topic but yesterday I tried to play the game on the DirecTV Now app on Apple TV and it refused due to "licensing for mobile devices." DirecTV Now continues to underwhelm me with their service.

I got it and cancelled soon after just for the free Apple TV. PS Vue is by far the best of all of them.

If they get rid of the home button and touch ID they had better find a way to securely unlock your phone in the dark. If it uses facial recognition that isn't going to cut it. I use my phone in bed and outside at night. Touch ID has been one of the best additions to the iPhone. It would be utterly stupid for them to get rid of it.

If these mockups are accurate... this is a colossal design fail.

It has become cliché but it's true... Apple has been stuck in the mud since Steve passed. No innovation and the design and functionality are getting WORSE.

Heads would roll if they would have attempted to release a phone with a bulging camera on the back. They're now on their 3rd or 4th revision of that now? Now add in a ridiculous eyesore cluster of cameras and speakers on the front? Gimme a break! Hell, they've done the impossible... they've actually made the minions at Microsoft look like superior makers of hardware.

I really hope a lot of the rumors turn out to just be rumors. It's as it the last month has just contained a bunch of spoilers. I want to be at least a little excited on the 12! :(:)

I'm not looking forward to a phone without touch id either, but just fyi these are infrared cameras that don't rely on light to function. Same as Windows Hello cameras. Haven't had any issues there light or dark, but this had still better be a step up even from those. There are also still a number of scenarios where being able to unlock the phone without raising it to my face come in handy so I hope apple pulls one out of their a$$ on this one.

I want but don't need an I Apple Watch, wait and see. I will definitely buy the new Apple TV. My IPhone SE will serve me fine for another year or two; the phones have gotten powerful enough there is no need to upgrade every year or even every two year. Every three years is fine.

£1000 for "our most unattractive iPhone yet" no thanks

Really?

To me the 6/6s was hands down the ugliest iPhone ever with those awful antenna bands and protruding camera.

At least with the 7 the camera protrusion was worked more elegantly into the body and the antenna bands made less noticeable.

No matter what they put on the inside, that phone looks hideous. Most certainly the top part looks so astoundingly ugly. Unbelievable if apple pulls that kind of design aesthetics out.
Before iPhone is announced: that phone looks hideous. So unapple like!

After iPhone is announced: beautiful. Just beautiful. Only apple can design something so sexy

If using an iPhone is just a fashion statement for you, then, well there's nothing I could say here that I wouldn't get admonished for. :D

I just think it's hysterically funny that no one here is the least concerned about UNLOCKING the iPhone 8 without TouchID while driving. Regardless of what the law is in any state, we know people do it every day.

How will this possibly not be catastrophic using Face or Iris SCAN while driving? I'm open to ideas.
Will the phone recognize you in profile form the adjacent seat? Something else?
Holding the phone up to your face while driving will be an epic fail!
I can see the Samsung commercials now, starring Toonces The Cat That Could Drive! LOL

It's that awkward moment when you realize you're the only person in the room that realizes someone left a nasty fart.
Are the fanboys just too afraid to admit it?
Since I got a new truck that has its own navigation system and because I wear Apple Watch for notifications, my iPhone stays in my purse when I drive.

I will be getting the mid-range storage (probably 256GB) iPhone Edition in Jet Black on the iPhone Upgrade Program. I'm pretty excited about this upgrade and being able to get the dual cameras in a smaller frame—which makes the cost worth it to me just for that.

I have no need for 4K yet—maybe next year or the year after if I upgrade my TV? We'll see. I'm more interested in HDR. Right now most TVs at a size that makes sense for being able to properly resolve 4K (72-90" to make decent resolution improvements over 1080p from sitting distance) in my living room are prohibitively expensive.

I'm not super excited about the Apple Watch either, and I can't imagine battery life is going to be great on the first-gen LTE model. But I am interested in the beefier specs likely needed to fly completely solo. My Series 0 has always been mildly slow and I've just gotten used to it. I rarely use apps on it beyond messages and weather, and mainly use it for exercising, glancing my next calendar appointment and checking most notifications. And quite honestly I rarely don't have my iPhone within WiFi distance when using my watch.

As for HomePod, I might get this in a few years as I (slowly) expand my HomeKit empire. I'm still waiting on a few companies that are supposedly working on a few key pieces of hardware I'd like to purchase. I also don't listen to music outside of my headphones very much, so for that reason it's overpriced for my use. Hopefully they come out with a smaller, cheaper version in a couple years that is mainly for voice control and could possibly double as a true wireless charger base station whenever that gets sorted out.

I've been running iOS 11 on my 10.5" iPad Pro all summer and it has been pretty good, so I'm mostly looking forward to having it on my iPhone and trying out the one handed keyboard. I'm also always annoyed that I don't have there 15s skip controls on my iPhone and the modular control center.

Is it just me or is the iPhone 8 the ugliest iPhone that Apple is going to produce? This camera sticking out for the 3rd time on an iPhone is absurd. Get this thing flush would you!?!?
Do you put a case on the phone? I assume not (which is why you’re mentioning it). The depth of the camera is needed for the quality, and with a case, it’s flush (most people have cases).

I personally don’t think it’s ugly at all.
