Sites like Macrumors have basically through their success killed off "one more thing" for good. Tim tried it one time and nobody was fooled or surprised so it came off as lame. Can't remember what he tried it for but think it was the iPhone X after he announced the 8. Either way it didn't work out well.

Yeah, Apple used the One More Thing so many times that reporters and industry watchers were looking thru any and all data put out by Apple and/or paying people who work in the component factories for heads up on the upcoming features. Once money became involved then someone was going to talk.

I'm in the market for a Mini - nothing else here is needed. Come on Mac Mini!!!!

Intel NUC running Linux.
Apple has moved outside the area my wallet is willing to pay.

Apple has also deprecated, dumped a lot of things I found useful (OSX server is loosing features so fast it will probably be gone soon), Airport base stations, Time capsules , etc.

Apples hardware is now considered unrepairable, their new "Green" credentials are "buy a new one", want a RAM upgrade, buy a new Mac, want a bigger SSD, buy a new Mac, keyboard failing buy a new Mac.

And even while Apple went from ADB to USB to Firewire to FW800 to Thunderbolt, etc etc Ethernet was still there as was USB-A, now you are forced to buy adaptors/hubs.

The USB-C cable that come with the laptop is a power only cable, it would have cost Apple only a couple of bucks to make it a power/data cable. Buy a new power supply, you don't even get a cable, thats an additional cost over and above Apples already high profit margin.

You can NOT buy a Mac without a mouse/keyboard. We need wired keyboards (less likely to be stolen), so we have to buy a 3rd party keyboard.

Through work I get MS Office for home for free, it also comes with 1TB of cloud storage.

Siri does not work on the ATV4s in New Zealand, it does on the iPhone, iPad, OSX, just not the ATV4....why ???
We get no "TV" in iTunes, so we are subscribers to Netflix/Amazon, Apple has lost that market here, and I will NOT subscribe to Apple Music, I have a radio that gives me music for free.

USB-C adaptors (including Apples) are unreliable, I have had 2 new laptops the adaptor will only work in one of them.

Sorry, but Apple has lost its way (again...).

I think that they should rethink their naming strategy if the name of their premium phone sounds like the word “excess”. I don’t care if it’s intentional or if some clueless MBA suggested the name and no one wanted to point out to the boss the bad impression that name might give to Apple.

Naming product lines is HARD. Especially landing on a scheme that's a) unique, b) simple, and c) flexible for future growth.

Yes, but when your company has a reputation for charging premium prices and you just became the first trillion dollar company coming up with something that could easily be twisted into the word 'excess' isn't the image you want to project with your new product name.

You do realize the SE stands for special edition, right? It is likely to have a very erratic schedule because (except for Apple Watch) all their mainline phone design work is for devices at least twice as large and with a parts list that's twice as expensive.

Thats not to say another SE won't come, but they need parts that fit and a cost they can ship the thing at before they can focus on a design that works. You can look at other second tier products (iPad mini, Mac mini, Apple TV, Mac Pro, MacBook Air) and see similar erratic release schedules.

I don't recall Apple ever saying SE stand for special edition so where do you take that from, please?

Also, I do not want SE so I don't understand why you imply that. I simply want flagship phone that is not HUGE. ie. iPhone 8 screen size (maybe in smaller package if possible)

Not enough of the market segment wants what you want. Simple as that :)

I was going to buy the 6 when it first came out especially since the 6 plus was said to be out of stock nation wide but when I went into my cell phone dealer all they had was the 6 plus. They said I had 14 days to bring it back if I didn't like it. I won't say it was love at first use but within 3 days I knew I wasn't taking it back. A bigger screen makes it easier to read and watch things, and it didn't seem so big after I got used to it.

My wife bought the iPhone X last year, and was afraid she wouldn't like how large it was. She had the iPhone 5 before that and probably would have gotten a phone the same size had it been available. She also wouldn't go back to a phone as small as the 5 now. The iPhone X is not as large as any of the 'Plus' phones even though the screen size is about the same as my 6 plus. Only very small bezels surround the entire phone so they didn't need to make it a lot wider or taller to fit the bezels on the sides or the Home Button on the bottom and front camera on the top of the phone.

I fully expect Big Tim to say "and just one more thing.."

Then unveils 18 core Mac Mini Threadripper!

That is actually more Mac like then what's been happening for the last few years.

Nowadays whatever they announce something at the key note all you hear is that one guy in the back of the room clapping.

Bummed that Apple offering a 4” phone is likely coming to a close. Not looking forward to the day I’m forced into a larger display.

Anxious for that October event more than anything. I currently own a Series 1 Apple Watch purchased in March 2018, a iPhone SE purchase in March 2017 and a MacBook Pro purchase in November 2016, but my parents need a new computer, and I’d love to replace their almost decade-old Acer desktop with a 2018 iMac.

The vivo NEX, is only $549, ( And it is for the first time ever, I had a eye on a Android Phone, it is bloody brilliant phone ) The pricing disparity of a similar Chinese Android Phone to Apple iPhone has always been about double. So that I guess and hope the iPhone Xs 6.5" will be $999. Although somewhere in the back of my mind, I think the iPhone Xs stays $999, and Xs 6.5" for $1099. With the iPhone 9 being $799.

[doublepost=1536548663][/doublepost]Yes.. Vivo Nex is a phone .

This event is shaping up to the biggest and most incredible event ever with unbelievable new products. These new iPhones will be the best Apple has ever made. And the same applies to the new Apple Watch.
I think everyone will be upgrading their devices this year.

Not sure if you’re being sarcastic or not but if you’re not. Every year the products are the best they’ve ever made

I don't understand Apple's strategy with the 5.8 and 6.1. Why would most consumers care about the OLED or a second camera if they can get a bigger screen, something that looks exactly like the X, and is 200-300 cheaper? The size difference is so minuscule as well.

I agree. Makes you wonder if the LCD version will have much bigger margins than the OLED version. At the end of the day the only thing Apple (Timmy) really seems to care about any more is politics and making money.

I have not bought a launch day iPhone since the 4s. All my iPhones since then have been used, prior gen models to save some cash.

This year, sign me up for 6.5" 512GB iPhone Xs Max. I can't wait.

I agreed with everything up until the last sentence, literally two months after the X came out I got it on eBay for $699... that's about a $400 savings from the $1100 X (after taxes), I think I'll do that again this year... never have I seen an Apple product drop that much in that short amount of time, but when it boils down to it, the X was not all that and these probably won't be either... Man I miss Steve Jobs

I agree. I won't buy any iPhone with the current implementations of Face ID for a variety of reasons.
I will stick with Touch ID as long as possible.
For me, it just works :D.
I am looking forward to a price drop on the 8+ on the 12th so I can replace my 6+.

Good call! Face ID is slower than touch ID every. Single. Time ... still not too happy about all the review websites that said it was just as fast or faster, they all lied!

Why preorders are not available on the keynote day or the next? So much waiting. Do you think the iPhones and watches will sell out on preorder day?

New iMacs? I don't understand the concept anymore. Devs can keep making iOS apps on the 2014 Mini and iTrashCan.

Although I have a very powerful PC and a recent MBP that I could plug into the same 1080P monitor, an iMac with a 5K display would be great to work on. I've wanted one for a long time but buying an existing model now would likely see my wishing I'd waited a little while longer for better specs, maybe a Space Grey and new features. Interestingly, although there have been plenty of phone and tablet rumours, next to nothing has been said about the iMacs.

I can't understand why Apple think larger screens will be popular. I thought 4" was all the screen real estate iPhone users would ever need?

And bezelless SE size phone will be killer phone. Its screen will be close to current 5.8 inch phones. But You will be still able to operate it with one hand much easier than other phones. Just notch will be quite big.
Hope we will get such phone.
[doublepost=1536577173][/doublepost]Rumor mill is going crazy but still just recycling old news. What about some rumors about improvements to cameras, True Depth camera, wireles charging, screen quality, AI, AR, battery life.....

Not enough of the market segment wants what you want. Simple as that :)

How would anyone know? Is there a small bezel/large screen SE sized phone option with up-to-date specs on the market that I'm missing? I think most Apple users I know have said they preferred the smaller sized phone but over time haven't had much choice but to go bigger due to lack of options.

I've had an SE for a couple of years, want a new version of it (cost does not matter) but there's no choice - I held a friend's iPhone X at the weekend and it felt like a giant slab, quite heavy, a bit unwieldy, hard to reach the corners and big in the pocket, felt larger than the iPhone 6 I had before the SE. Unless/Until Apple make an SE sized "X" no-one will know what the market demand is.

Has anyone heard whether the new phones will support Bluetooth 5? That would be a compelling reason to upgrade!!
