The touch bar was not meant for any of the above. And none of it would increase the enthusiasm anyway.
The current implementation of it is poor, and doesn't create much benefit. Perhaps if they develop it further so it will become the next Magic Trackpad kind of "thing" ...
touch bar will never be a "thing". Its a gimmick lel

is it monday yet the wait is killing me i really like too see what IOS 11 will bring too the table this year

"Refreshed MacBook Pro devices [...] are expected to feature faster, more efficient Kaby Lake chips"

And yet Buyer's Guide states "Caution" instead of "don't buy" about em

Everyone else is saying that everything but the laptops are getting updates next week. It seems like only MacRumors is claiming that only laptops will be updated.

I sure MacRumors is wrong in this instance. I could really use a new iMac.
It could be iMacs that are updated not the MacBook Pro. Either way, this will be an interesting keynote to watch. Can't wait...

I still get giddy for Apple keynotes. Looking forward to the new OS debuts, and the siri speaker. The iPad.....eh. I think they've hit a wall with iPads, but that's just me. My Air 2 does quite well for what I use it for, mostly media consumption. As for MBP's, my 10 month old 2015 15" is amazing and makes me quite happy. There's always going to be newer, faster, better.

Enjoy the keynote everyone!
Just hope that Tim will not use the word "magical". This term has been misused so many times.

I was just wondering if anyone who has the proper device will be able to watch. I mean, servers wont get overloaded from too many online trying to watch? I'm not real technical so that may not be the right terminology but you get my drift. I will be trying to watch on an ATV 4 and Apple Event App.

IMO it would be great if an app, even if it didn't use Siri itself, could tell that it was invoked using Siri. Example: "hey Siri, open google maps", and google maps knowing that it was invoked by Siri, could perhaps enable its own voice control function without having to press the microphone icon. That would be handy when driving; Apple maps is getting much better, but choices remain good, and every time while driving that you do _not_ have to look at or touch the phone is an improvement.

That could IMO be easily enough done by passing an extra environment variable, to let apps know; that would not cause any compatibility problems for those that were not modified to take advantage of it.

Hey guys and girls! I will be unable to watch it when the presentation begins because I am going to be like 30 minutes late. Do you guys and girls know of any way to watch it from the beginning after it has begun? Suggestions much appreciated!
The Apple Events app for the Apple TV should let you start watching whenever I believe? Can someone back me up on this?

I will read about it as some of us have to work.

i no a grate way too get out of work start drinking beer then tell your boss in the AM you had too much too drink and you wont be able too come in then you be able too stay have and watch the apple event

Today is the last day a stable version of iOS (currently 10.3.2) is available. Tomorrow, the garbage storm begins.

You've been warned!!!!

Understanding that WWDC is primarily a software event, the hardware announcements should determine whether Apple has actually listened to the professional community or just blowing hot air.

In other words they really don't know anything, what has been said here can be said for any year or version. New ios, new phones, yep every year that keeps the ca$h flowing

Weirdly my most wanted feature is cloud synchronisation of *everything* you do in Photos. It's crazy you have to do face recognition again on every device.. I have >30k photos, its bad enough once! (Smart albums should also sync, etc!)

Really looking forward to see what they do with iOS 11 in regards to iPads. I hope whatever it is it doesn't tax too many older models or demand too much of the ram on the current 9.7" iPad Pro.

Generally trying to avoid him, but he's there on every occasion. Oct was MBP launch. He talked about the TouchBar future and apps (...) and seemed motivated. So I'd expected a smart keyboard with TB right now
Anyway, TouchBar for this moment seems to remain what it was at the moment of its conception (whether in June or Oct): the prevalence of emoji's, backed in hardware
The TouchBar is the future. That's wise of you to become a TouchBar developer, because soon the entire keyboard area will be taken over by the TouchBar. There will be an app store dedicated to the TouchBar.

iOS V.current (currently 10) quality always degrades after WWDC. Apple engineers will be "on the hook" to deliver whatever they announce for September.

I use Windows at work and in a laptop. Some super complicated piece of software freezes once a month And crashes the system twice a year.

On my Mac Photos crashes every week and takes the entire system with it every single time. Apple needs to work on crashes of programs not taking down the system. That would be the biggest upgrade.

Actually, not too far off. The next iteration of Mac keyboards will most likely be e-ink.

The only thing I want is a new MBP with a keyboard that has decent travel distance.

This scares the hell out of me.

To be fair, spamming every single thread with "waah, waah, Apple has removed ports and that's not the product I personally wanted" is getting stale. They've done it. Maybe it was the wrong move. Maybe they'll revert it in part. Maybe they won't. Move on.
we can't. we need help.

'What to Expect at WWDC 2017'
Nothing new

Bite your tongue. There will be new shades of existing colors of Apple watchbands!

There is a reason why they don't call it Facestime.

Yeah, but before they renamed iChat to FaceTime and shoved its crippled ass into the Mac and IOS, it totally did that. Helz, I chat even did like.... chat and video!

The more I think about this, the more this is becoming a WTF Apple moment. We had that in what, Panther??

I'm not sure any amount of iOS updates can make iPhone/iPad exciting again
Actually it can. Current hardware is very powerful, but the lack of imagination and lack of good designers (or they are being supressed by Ive) is what stops Apple from making iPhones great again.

A slick UI with some clever ideas and smart AI is what could make iPhone exciting. Steve and Scott knew what they were doing.
