Exactly. With iPad. Still don't see anyone using iPhone with stulys, also stylus for iPad isn't meant for navigation it's mostly for graphics designers and artist.
Arrgh - that unwieldy purism again.
So they have to stowe their pen away (into Apple vacuum...there is nothing?) just to flip a page.
My 20-year old Compaq iPaq did that better

What you call unfriendly behavior, I'd consider creating inexcusable negativism around the (formerly) best computer business of its kind. That self-destructive PostPC message has done the rest in the market - because who'd sensibly invest in business declared to be soon over by its own leader...?
There is little difference from actually ceasing production, now that the psychological contract around customers' trust has been broken
And how about the trust in the reliability of statements from people that conflate rumour with fact? Once I hear somebody make an obviously and easily checked incorrect statement, shouldn't I also loose trust in other statements they make?

We both seem to have difficult times - especially now this Cooky world feels so Trumpy...

I could be that both Amazon and Google are worried about Apple entering the Home voice assistant market. I'm seeing lots of adverts for both devices on UK TV today. The Amazon ads relate to 1) playing the voice of a Panda and playing a song and 2) Ordering groceries etc, such as Flour, Stain Remover.
TBH, anyone who uses the Amazon device to order groceries as a single item is just plain wierd but hey, that's me. I'll never do my grocery shopping online. I like to see what I'm buying.

Anyone here watching live want to hang out on Discord during the event. I'll be posting on MR, but I just find Discord to be better for people who want to chat during the live event.

Does anyone have any comments about the minimum requirements for macOS 10.13? I am thinking if my iMac mid-2011 will be supported...

You most likely will be able to. From Apple: Mac computers introduced in late 2009 or later can be upgraded to macOS Sierra.

That's almost an 8-year-old window of Macs, so I'm pretty sure you're good.

The touch bar was not meant for any of the above. And none of it would increase the enthusiasm anyway.
The current implementation of it is poor, and doesn't create much benefit. Perhaps if they develop it further so it will become the next Magic Trackpad kind of "thing" ...
Last year I spoke Phil at WWDC16 he assured me TouchBar was The Thing (= new strategic direction)
Did he fail on me ?

All I want is a macbook update hopefully with 16gb ram as an option. and a redesign to iOS 11 would be nice to see.

This is the first time I am ever off from work on the day of an apple event so it will be cool to watch a live keynote for the first time ever. I'll be on a flight to vegas with wi-fi so that should be nice.

Most in flight wi-fi doesn't allow for streaming other than in house videos.

I guess we need to wait and see what they make next with it. It is currently the first version and definitely not "The Thing" yet.

Well at last year's WWDC keynote there was this lady that went completely crazy with it (influencing my decision to become a TouchBar developer)
Was she overacting ?

How about Tim keeping a very low profile. I hoped he would improve over time...not happening. The keynotes over the last few years have become tedious and boring. This will be the first year I will just wait for the viewing after and just scan through the boring parts, so would probably take...maybe 10 minutes.

Don't get me wrong, I have been a loyal Apple user since 1984....too many changes..and not all good....

For real, I scrubbed through the last one too. The formula he follows is identical every time.

If they do announce upgraded MBP machines will they be available for order immediately?

Right.

You spoke to Phil. In October. At WWDC. About the Touch Bar.

And he high-fived folks, and highlighted screen savers and pac-man.
Generally trying to avoid him, but he's there on every occasion. Oct was MBP launch. He talked about the TouchBar future and apps (...) and seemed motivated. So I'd expected a smart keyboard with TB right now
Anyway, TouchBar for this moment seems to remain what it was at the moment of its conception (whether in June or Oct): the prevalence of emoji's, backed in hardware

I'm betting the topic of climate change will make an appearance at some juncture. What are the chances?
