Too late for me - I'd been waiting years for a new Mac Pro and 2016 was the year I threw in the towel. I bought a great Windows 10 desktop and a Surface Book laptop and I'm shocked at how good they both are - Windows 10 is a far cry from the crap that I remember from >10 years ago.

There is no reason to hang around to wait for a new Mac - great Windows options exist right now.

Hahaha, Windows still is the old-Old stuff, it's by no means much better than Windows 7 or earlier versions.
Installing software still sucks, Preferences are even more all over the place, Calls back home too many times, drivers suck....
No, I rather go to Linux which actually is a nerd OS than using Windows.

We are Apple users since our first Apple 2 plus through iPhone 6splus, we are finally through. Our 2007 iMac, our 2009 mini, and our 2012 air are all aging and need replacement soon. We purchased a Windows machine for Christmas and it seems to be OK.

Apple is clearly abandoning their Mac line. The difficult conversion of files has begun. Apple left us, not the other way around.

With the launch of the iPhone 7 and MacBook Pro, 2016 has been a mixed year for Apple. The iPhone 7 was released without a headphone jack, an unpopular choice that's now been somewhat ameliorated by the launch of the AirPods, and the MacBook Pro has been plagued by battery issues, graphics problems, and complaints about the high price of the device.

Apple also saw its first decline in iPhone sales in 2016, but 2017 could potentially turn things around for the company. We're expecting the biggest iPhone revision we've seen since the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus launched in 2014, plus we're also expecting major iPad changes, refreshed desktop Macs, and software improvements.

iPhone 8 - September 2017

Rumors about the 2017 iPhone started ramping up before the iPhone 7 was even released, so there's a lot of information out there, and at this point, quite a bit of it conflicts, so it's difficult to get a clear picture of what Apple is planning for the iPhone's 10th anniversary.

If you read all of the rumors and suss out some common themes, there are a few concrete details that hint at what likely to see in the next-generation iPhone. We're assuming it's going to be called the "iPhone 8" due to design changes that are more radical than we'd expect for an "iPhone 7s," but it's entirely possible Apple will go with another name.

It looks like there's going to be at least three iPhone models, and one of those will have an OLED display. It's sounding like we're going to get one premium OLED iPhone somewhere in the neighborhood of 5 inches, with either a flexible curved display that wraps around the edges like the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge or an edge-to-edge display more in line with the current design of the iPhone 7.

In pretty much all-in for a 10.9" iPad Pro with 4GB RAM and A11X Fusion chip. Hopefully it's at least an A11. Bluetooth 5 would be nice for future use with smart devices around the home, and I hope they come out with a "Pro" version of iOS for managing creative projects more efficiently.

As for the iMac, Intel is supposed to be releasing a six core i7 that could go in it towards the end of 2017 or early 2018 so I might hold out for that—assuming Apple is still making Macs by then. Might also give them time to switch to ARM for Macs and either way I'll have a more future-facing iMac. I'd also like to get a Touch Bar external keyboard.

I think this post is a load.

Apple has made it clear that they're moving away from the consumer market and more towards enterprise customers. Hence, expect more of the same while seeing more effort to bolster their services. The iPhone and iPad will serve as conduits towards these ends.

I even suspect Apple development will head into the cloud and away from needing Apple hardware.

Wish list

OLED Bezel-less iPhone (no, not a crappy 'wrap' like Samsung)

Can't see that happening since the glass would likely have sharp edges and people would tend to "hold" and "use the device wrong" o_O

---

Would be nice to see something out of left field from Apple for a change though.

I don't know I don't see major changes coming to the iPhone line up in 2017. I still think we are going to see a 7s with the same body and very little changes except the usual camera upgrade and processor upgrade. Those who just keep hanging on to their 6 or 6+ phones will be able to let the savings party continue. Still waiting for apple to do something to give me a reason to buy another iPhone and sell my Nexus 6P

I'm likely the only one, but I am really hoping for a thinner iPhone. I'm happy to sacrifice some more battery life if needed as long as its thinner. I'm never more than a few feet from a charger anyway. Same goes for the MacBook Pro. I haven't plugged anything into my MacBook Pro in years. Wifi exists for a reason! We live in a wireless world so professionals don't need ports anymore.

Wireless charging + WiFi = no more ports + thinner!!

I love the opening line about it being a 'mixed year for Apple' referring to to iPhone 7 and MacBook Pro. Made me smile.
So diplomatic by the writer.

But its 10 years and they have sold one Billion+ iPhones surely even if its in Steve's memory the 10th year addition will be renamed and be very very special.

Key note in June '17 at the Mothership with Tim playing the original launch in 2007 on the big screen with Steve holding the iphone in the air and Tim saying how proud he is - then saying 'oh and our latest model is the 7s'
just cant see that.

Hopefully Apple will end their self-imposed cranial colonoscopy and release an updated MBP with Kaby Lake, a real GPU, 32GB of RAM, and a full-sized battery.

I'm not remotely hoping for a retirement of the gimmicky touchbar, and a pen-screen replacement.

My only expectation is Apple to give the Mac some love. Mac Pro, Mini, iMac, displays, Airport, etc desperately need updates. Come on Tim. Get this going.

Give up on the airport - that's likely dead and gone. Switched to the Orbi yesterday - FAR better performance and coverage.

Sounds like it's going to be a pretty boring year.

New iPhone is no surprise.

Faster iPad in more sizes with thinner bezel. Just like every year. Where's the Surface Pro equivalent?

Maybe a few half baked Mac updates. Maybe.

More dongles.

Lots of talk on the music front, but iTunes and Apple Music will still be a train wreck, because it's more fun to hang out with celebrities than fix your code.

iOS with even more emojis!

More assurances that the mythical pipeline is filled with magical products. The future is so close it's almost here!

Are you trolling? :)

Power users need port, plugs and performance.

If you look at the production processes used for ceramic watches (including Apple's version), you'll see that they are very hard to scale up to tens of million of units per quarter. It simply takes way too long to produce the ceramic part. It is fine for niche products (let's say the Apple Watch sells at 10 million per quarter and 5% are Edition sales, that would 500'000, vs at least 10x that for a higher-end iPhone).

Considering a random company that makes high precision zirconia ball bearings ceramics can spit out 1mio a month:

And a single automated ceramic machine can spit out 1mio toilet tank lits a year, I don't think that will be a problem.
