Perhaps the mods can create a section that only allows comments that are positive about Apple? You know, something like "I think Apple is correct in not updating the Mac Pro since 2013", or "Apple was right on, when it did NOT update the form factor of the 2014 Mac Mini, but glued in the components and dropped the CPU to dual core only".

I can guarantee you that I would NEVER visit a sub forum like that.

Trolling is completely different than having an opinion.

You mean like this?

Very convenient of you to just highlight part of my post, what I pointed out is that a troll is all of those points.
And I am not leaving am I!

I know a forum like that . It starts with Apple end ands with xxsider... that kind of forums give me the creeps

What to expect in 2017? Wish it weren't so, but:

Thinner, lighter, more sealed (if that's possible), more hype ("magical," "revolutionary"), higher prices, Mac disappointments, more colors.

Gee is it that time of year already? Every year for the last several the typical no fact hit shot come out and says the same exact thing. Apple always over orders every year and cuts back as they learn the pace. Get over the BS>

If they know this every year, then why the need to cut back? That should have been accounted for already.

My definition of a troll is:

A fairly new member.
Low Post count.
Posting on the first page.
Leaves a single negative comment and then leaves.
Is here to stir things up.
Off topic posting.
Thanks for your explanation. Can we just keep it at opinions and accept that opinions not always match? If they would, we would have world peace :). My opinions are sad fully very different with the opinions Apple has today. That used to be not the case in the not so distant past. Because I can't express my feelings about that directly to Apple, I'm trying to express them here. It's always nice when someone listens or you can exchange opinions. Don't you agree? Anyway, I'm not here to flame just to talk with others sharing thoughts, etc.

Sure, Opinions are very much welcome here.
Now, I also think Apple is not what it used to be, I would like them to be what they were just a few years back but, they still make good products that are (much) better than others.
But I am hopeful 2017 will be a better year, Apple might listen to all the negativity which came into the news lately.

It's dangerous to get excited about the prospect of new Apple products for the coming year because the past few years have also come with hope only to be quickly dashed with a downpour of mediocrity.

I'll be excited when it releases:

- something close to the rumors of an iPad bigger than 9.7" but similar frame size, i.e., reducing bezel and eliminating physical home button with a virtual one.

- An inductive charging iPhone 8 with dual cameras in a 5" screen.

- a prosumer headless Mac like the old entry level cheese grater Mac Pro or a Mini with the power of a 27" iMac.

Eventually Apple will just call the iPhone the iphone and do away with the numbering system. i can't see them announcing the iPhone 19S. It just seems silly at a certain point. i could see Apple releasing an iPhone 7s(or maybe theyll call it the iphone 8 if they change the look of it significantly) this year along side a premium 10th anniversary iPhone. Perhaps theyll call it the iphone pro or the iPhone X or maybe just the 10th Anniversary iPhone. i dunno. But it may be the beginning of Apple dropping the numbering system altogether going forward. Perhaps they'll do what they already do with the iPad and Macbook lines...release an iphone AND an iPhone Pro from now on. Personally, i think calling it an iPhone Pro would be kind of pretentious.

If you keep in mind (my opinion) that most of those negativity comes from people who used to be loyal Apple fans and have difficulty with the direction Apple is going now. Lack of new products while the competition is firing on all cilinders. Also the quality of software and services are lagging compared to others. Don't get me wrong, I still like Apple products but I'm not blindly following or trusting the pipeline anymore. Apple always was a bit more expensive but you could trust that it performed well and enjoyed a great experience. Today I'm not so sure anymore and that with price increases makes me sad. I do hope when others experience the same and express themselves, Apple listens. Strength by numbers. If that noice comes over as negativity or trolling, I apologize. I want to be a proud Apple user from the time not so long ago.

I would have assumed they would go to iPhone X and then use the X as a swerve ball to change the naming scheme.. however since they have dropped the X of macOS I'm not really sure what they will do.

Am I the only one that thinks we won't see refreshed MacBook Pro's in the fall? They're still catching up on shipment for this years model which will run into January. 'Fall' could be as early as September.. It just seems 'too soon'.. It is unlikely that they will refresh their entire Mac line, release new iPhones and iPads in the space of a few months.

I'm an Apple fan but not nearly as much as I was in years past. I'll still rock their phones but when it comes to my next laptop, it's getting harder to root for Apple with competition heating up. With them dropping their Airport routers just gives me another reason to look elsewhere. I'm not into Apple jewelry or gimmicks to be honest.

This.

My MacBook is going. Replaced by a Dell 7370. 16gb m7 with 13" qhd touchscreen and 512gb for £500 less than the closest 12" MB available is a no brainier. The cost of admission is insulting and OSX is stalling where windows is getting good again.

If someone creates a viable tablet / phone ecosystem that genuinely integrates with windows then I'll likely give that a shot too.

I can't wait for the 2017 iPhone to be released just so we can stop rererererereposting that extremely ugly hole-punched-screen phone concept.

I just get tired of post like his. ⬇︎⬇︎

Agreed.. I expect it from time to time, but this forum is just relentless.. member after member, post after post, same thing, every article.. trolling comments people thinking their funny when they're not. It does genuinely become tiresome reading it and has a negative impact on MacRumors.

They won't drop the numbering, it would be too confusing for most consumers, we'll get things like, the iPhone, the new iPhone and next the new new iPhone.
What about when they release a new iPhone, call it the iPhone but they still keep the old iPhone which they already do for a few years, what you're gonna name that one?
As I said, too confusing.

At this point who cares? Cook has no idea the damage that has been done and is being done. Probably won't hurt Apple much next year, but Apple is giving up the bread and butter and has no blockbuster in the pipeline. Everything Apple has is now a commodity item (limited growth), but Apple does not know how to manage commodities anymore. Maybe Cook is tired of all of the bad press, and Apple will double down and hit some solid improvements with iMac, MBP, Mini, but I just don't see it.

He's been great for Apple. He's been a disaster for the Mac.
Yes and no! Apple has been very profitable but in the past 4 years the lag of products and innovations hard-, software and services) makes me wonder how long this will hold. I hope I'm totally wrong and that the secretivety of Apple will surprise us all positively in 2017. But if the past 4 years reflect in things to come I'll hold my breathe.
